NEW YORK -- The prosecution of a sheik accused of funneling millions of dollars to al-Qaida was roiled Tuesday by news that a man who set himself on fire in front of the White House was a key witness in the case.Defense attorneys said Mohamed Alanssi is a confidential informant central to the prosecution of Sheik Ali Hassan al-Moayad, whom U.S. authorities consider their biggest catch to date in a campaign to cut off funding for terrorists.
Al-Moayad, a leading member of an Islamic-oriented political party in Yemen, was extradited from Germany last year and is awaiting trial in federal court in Brooklyn. He and his assistant allegedly conspired to provide material support to Osama bin Laden and the Palestinian Islamic group Hamas.

What I gather from this piece of low-life,is he solded out on
his own kind.100,000$ is a lot of money,and would have gone
a long to pay for medicine and medical treatment for his wife
in Yemem.He should have thought about her before he blew
the cash.If this reptile was really concerned for his family he
should never have offered imformation in the first place,or
before becoming an informer,made sure he and his family where
covered by the witness protection scheme.
This reptile sold out his own kind tkus endangering the lives of
his family.If there is any justice to be done.the FBI should do
everything in there power to ensure the safety of his family.
even bring them to the USA if they so wish,and send the arsehole

The worldwide jihad on the whole is as serious as any issue facing us today, but every so often the jihadis do provide some entertainment. I cracked up when I read about this guy setting himself on fire with his own 'exploding' envelope. I wish Al Jazeera had caught that on video.
Help! Help! Allah! Allah! As the bystanders head off at a snails pace to find a fire extinguisher.

As pathetic and contemptable a human being as the witness may appear to be, he doubtless is in grave danger of being executed by supporters of Sheik Ali Hassan al-Moayad. If the FBI and other law enforcement agencies want to get convictions, they damned well better be proactive about witness security.
