Happy Thanksgiving

It is good to give thanks today that we in the US have not suffered a jihad attack since 9/11. It is good to give thanks today that several would- be attackers have been apprehended.

Let us remember also today those around the world who continue to suffer under the boot of jihadist and Sharia oppression.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow JWers, and to Mr. Spencer, our eternal gratitude for the important work that you do. I am particularly thankful today for YOU, for all your efforts, and for this site. We are the vanguard of a fledgling movement, and for many of us, our awakening began with you. May God bless you and keep you safe.

Happy thanksgiving to all jihadwatchers!
Let's remember we have a lot to thank the good lord for. Just like the early pilgrims had. And we're thankful for small mercies. And we will win the good fight!

Yes, Mr Spencer.

We should have a "remember all those who live under Sharia law" day.

Let's not us forget what Ernest Renan said: "muslims are the first victims of Islam."
Especially muslim women.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. I also wish KC in England joy during the holiday (we wouldn't have it had James VI and I not sworn to the Puritans "I will harry you from the land" at the Hampton Court Conference).

Pray for the benighted State of Maryland. They refuse to teach schoolchildren that the Pilgrims thanked God for their first harvest in the New World.

And a special thanks to:

All those trying to get the message out.

Happy Thanksgiving to all and best wishes.

Not to dull the moment, but to make it brighter at least for us, remember those that are living under Sha'ria will not be permitted to celebrate and give thanks in the same way and would be persecuted.

Be thankful that we still have the opportunity to resist and preserve our liberties and freedoms.

Happy Thanksgiving to Mr. Spencer and all.

This is a time when we American's celebrate our heritage and thank the Allmighty for blessings received.

In Europe, more than 1 million Europeans have signed a petition to demand that Europe's Christian heritage be enshrined into the EU constitution (see link).

Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless all!

Happy Turkey Day all. It's a pleasure to read this site, content and comments.

I think I will take today to not fret about jihad, sharia, dhimmitude and all the evil that muhammad has wrought.

I will instead relax, enjoy some wine (khamr), some football, some friends, some family and of course lots of food.

Proud to be an American today.

To all the members of the JW and DW family, no matter where in the world you live, I wish you all the very best on this day.

I apologize for the space taken up by my post today, but it is the only way I have of sharing with everyone just how important this day is to all of us, everywhere:

THANKSGIVING

All of us remember the stories from our earliest school years about Thanksgiving; how difficult it was for the Pilgrims, how grateful they were to have survived the harsh conditions of New England, and how thankful they were to their Indian neighbors for sharing food with them. They sat down together for a celebratory feast, and gave thanks to God on this occasion.

This was the first Thanksgiving—or was it?

The Daughters of the American Revolution, and other groups interested in “truth in history,” have been trying for decades to persuade the American educational establishment to tell the true story of the first Thanksgiving, but to no avail.

In fact, the festive meal of the Pilgrims was a lovely thing, but it was not the first Thanksgiving. It was a harvest festival, a meal much like those that had been a part of harvest ceremonies celebrating the change of seasons from remote antiquity. These festivals had—and continue to have—a deeply important place in human society.

But on this momentous occasion, on this particular day of celebration, I would like to share with you the story of the REAL first Thanksgiving.

It all started in New York, on October 3rd, 1789. . . But wait; it’s better to let the man who started it all tell you about it in his own words:

“WHEREAS it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favour; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me ‘to recommend to the people of the United States a DAY OF PUBLICK THANKSGIVING and PRAYER, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:

“NOW THEREFORE, I do recommend and assign THURSDAY, the TWENTY-SIXTH DAY of NOVEMBER next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish Constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted; for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favours which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

“And also, that we may then united in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions; to enable us all, whether in publick or private stations, to perform our several and relative duries properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations, especially such as have shewn kindness unto us; and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.

GIVEN under my hand, at the city of New York, the third day of October, in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and eighty-nine.”

(Signed)

G. Washington

So, ladies and gentlemen, Thanksgiving—the one we celebrate today—was created most especially and particularly in gratitude for the Constitution of the United States of America.

A “constitution” is a document which describes the relationship between an organization and its membership, and the Constitution of the United States was, and remains, the most breath-takingly sophisticated description of the proper relationship between a government and free men that has ever existed.

Please note, in particular, some of the other things which our first President thought worthy of gratitude: “. . .the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have (since) enjoyed. . .” “. . .the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish Constitutions of government. . .” “. . . the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed. . .” ”the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge. . .” “to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws. . .” and “. . . to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He along knows to be best.”

Fellow Americans—and, in fact, ALL of us who are citizens of the Civilized World--these gratitudes are indeed worthy of our deepest and most sincere Thanksgiving. The Constitution of the United States was the highlight of the Age of Enlightenment, the end-product of an ancient line of philosophical thought beginning with Aristotle, salvaged for us by the great Muslim Aristotelian Commentator, philosopher, judge and physician, Ibn Rushd, then spread throughout Italy and the rest of Europe by his near contemporary, Thomas Aquinas, then to the English philosopher of the Enlightenment John Locke, and finally to the Founders of our country.

We are today the fortunate beneficiaries of this long line of intellectual giants; it is they who illuminated for us, as had never been done before, the meaning of “rights,” and laid them out, in writing, in a way that could not be hidden away from us. We experience life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness in a manner never before seen in human history.

Please look carefully at the last, but most assuredly not the least, of the other things George Washington considered worthy of our gratitude: “. . .to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity. . .”

George Washington, and others who had inherited the shining light of reason from his predecessors, recognized that life on this earth, and the material riches required to support and celebrate it, were blessings, not sins.

I would like to suggest that we all, no matter where on this earth we may live, lift our glasses to toast this line of thinkers that goes back 2500 years, as well as those who will surely follow and who will continue to refine what we have accomplished up to our time.

A very Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Thanks for that post. It truly puts the current(and ongoing) conflict in its proper perspective and gives the meaning of this day an added dimension that may not have occured to many of us, being that we usually focus primarily on family on this day. But our "greater" family must also be considered, and our heritage commemorated and treasured.

Dear friends on the other side of the ocean,

Have a great Thanksgiving! Please realize the special role America once again plays in conserving our freedom. I had the dubious honor three weeks ago informing the Jihadwatch audience of the terrible murder taking place 80 meters from my house: the ritual slaughter of my good friend Theo van Gogh.

It brought my country into turmoil, and the storm is still raging, with news developments nearly every day. It has not brought moral clarity, and the elite is still in denial. The leading quality newspaper had an op-ed article yesterday predicting a coup d'etat! (In the Netherlands our main problem used to be dog shit in the streets.)

Like all world wars, it's American leadership that will make or break the great cause of freedom. It's that simple. I wish it was different. I wish our prime-minister would stop his Chamberlain impersonations, and try a little Churchill every now and then.

Have a great turkey (while we will try to keep Turkey out.) You deserve it.

As long as there are people like Robert Spencer out there,as well as Daniel Pipes,Ann Coulter,
Sean Hannity,Rush Limbaugh,Laura Ingraham, and all of us here at JW,there is still hope.
As long as Europe is slowly waking up from its deep sleep, there is still hope.
As long as we have a republican in the White House, there is still hope.
As long as we can continue to celebrate Thanks giving day and give thanks to God,there is still hope.
As long as we can continue to say Merry Christmas,Happy Easter and as long as we can continue to sing God Bless America, there is still hope.
Happy Thanks giving to all of you.
God bless.

Besides being thankful for the U.S. Constitution and Western Civilization, let's all be thankful that we live in the 21st century! And that that great Pentagon invention--the internet--is helping us to learn about islam so the jihadist don't drag us back to the 7th century.

Much turkey to all!

O.T.
Just finished watching foxnews.com’s “Eurabia part 2”. It is interesting how much more of an impact video has over just reading about the same events in the print media. Hearing the crowd in the background, seeing police, emergency services a burning mosque. All in all, very powerful imagery. This was a better piece than the one last night.

Let's keep the sense of what you are fighting against in perspective on this day of Thanks. It is not for a return of a 'Christian' form of a theocratic tyranny, but of the permanent seperation of Church (in all guises) and State.

Once the 'true believers' (of any stripe or sect, whether Muslim or what-not) take earthly power, they always sow schism, hellfire and a renewed dark ages. Human hands are not fit for absolute power. (See the Cromwell in England follies.)

Be glad for the food that your own hands earned. And beware of any infiltration, left, right, muslim or christian, into the making of the laws that allow freedom of and from religion.

Taoists, Buddhists, Hindus, Jews, Bahais, polytheists. atheists and agnostics are part of the human and humane mix, and prattling on about how wonderful one group is -whether George Washington, who was a 'deist', at best, and not a 'Christian', per se, or any current 'right wing' oracles, undermines the wall of resistence we must keep up against radical, murderous Islamic extremism. (Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, John Ashcroft and other mental lightweights are hardly shining examples of the type of intellects we need in this fight. Someone with the gravity and breadth of Churchill seems more apt- a person who could speak brilliantly, knew history, and could fight dirty, if need be.)

Happy fowl feast, inshallah.

Keep your cranberries wet and your powder dry.

And your wits about you.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL! I am thankful for the life giving essence of Mother Earth and the countless joys that abound in our daily lives.

I am thankful for being an American and being in a postition to help liberate the world. I do feel the religious shackles of Islam will be broken in my life time. The Islamic political empire will fall just as surly as the Berlin Wall did.

Spencer and Hugh keep up the splendid post and work. Rest asure that democracy not religious dogma will come to dominate the Twenty-First Century. We are on the right side of this struggle. Progress will embrace us and history will be kind to us.

A heartfelt THANKS to all in the struggle for the liberation of mankind and the defeat of Islam.

VIVE AMERICANA!

Martin

Always try to remember that you (the Netherlands) are not alone in this struggle. A few years ago I read a book written by a gentleman from my home town. Our families have been friends for more than three generations. His book was his memories of world war two. He fought in both the Italian campaign and in the Netherlands. I knew he had been in WW2, but I didn’t realize just how much action he had seen. He had never told anyone until he wrote it down. Some of his descriptions of battles in the flooded fields of the Netherlands are horrific. I asked him why he wrote the book, he said to make sure people understood just how serious war is. I asked him why a kid from a small farming town, who barely knew where the Netherlands were, would go off to war. He said “Because everyone deserves to be free, even if it means some Canadians lose their lives.” There are many of us who still believe this is true.
