How did the security chief of Najaf province come to be someone who would even consider starting a "terrorist cell"? Because no one is asking the right questions about Islam and jihad ideology. From AP, with thanks to Kemaste:
(Baghdad, Iraq-AP, Nov. 29, 2004 9:12 AM) _ The governor of Iraq's Shiite-dominated Najaf province says police have arrested his own security chief in an alleged plot to assassinate him.The governor says the security official was "planning to establish a terrorist cell." The governor and other top regional officials were the alleged targets.

Qur’an 74:31 “We have appointed nineteen angels to be the wardens of the Hell Fire. We made a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve and We have fixed their number as a trial for unbelievers in order that the people of the Book may arrive with certainty, and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Book, those in whose hearts is a disease. And for those to whom the Scripture Book has been given, and the believers, there should be no doubt. The unbelievers may say, ‘What does the Lord intend by this?’ The Lord will lead astray whomever He pleases, and He will guide whomever He pleases: and none can know the armies of your Lord except He, and this is no other than a warning to mankind.”
This can be broken by Yes it is the Army of the people of the Book who he has chosen to Free [USA] the Iraqi people as it says

Mr Spencer,
Am not too sure I get this. If *every* moslem is enjoined to jihad, then maybe Iyad Allawai will plot to assasinate top US officials? Even if hard questions about jhadi sympathies be asked of would-be iraqi officialdom, Taqiyya prevents our knowing the truth, ever. Can no one amongst the mohammaden masses be trusted? If that is that case then what is the solution?

'The governor says the security official was "planning to establish a terrorist cell."'
Why does this happen? Because the Quran does *not* teach concience-level self denial but rather produces millions from birth that arrogantly believe they have a prideful direct connection to God's authority to do as they please for the the furtherance of Islam. In other words Islam teaches that the end justifies the means. This is why nearly every "moderate" is an Islamist at heart. This is a danger much greater than worldwide secular authorities realize. The ability to identify hidden Islamists disguised as moderates would help tremendously. These people are off to a good start Sign Petition but I think it will require an absolute tough proactive process of identification and removal not to mention reform of the early-age teaching that leads to this in the first place.

This does a lot to explain why so many Iraqi Police have been targeted and killed even when in civilian clothes. Inside infomation, spies and deceit - who can you TRUST?? Iraq will be a long haul and may yet be divided into 3 parts along religious and ethnic lines...Maybe long suffering Kurds will get a homeland after all, they certainly deserve one.

What a shame that they wont "give peace a chance", instead they stab each other in the back and lie about it over and over again.

Nuclear Freeze Talks Must Not Last Too Long - Iran
Tue Nov 30, 2004 02:30 AM ET
TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran is prepared to keep uranium enrichment activities frozen as long as nuclear negotiations continue with the EU, but those talks should not last too long, Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Hassan Rohani said Tuesday.
"The length of the suspension will only be for the length of the negotiations with the Europeans and the length of negotiations must be rational and not too long," Rohani told a news conference.
"We're talking about months, not years," he added.
Iran, which insists its nuclear program is solely for electricity generation, Monday escaped possible U.N. sanctions over its nuclear program after agreeing to freeze all activities which could be used to make bomb-grade material.
The European Union hopes to persuade Iran to make the suspension permanent by offering Iran trade and other incentives. But Tehran has said it will never give up what it considers its right to develop a fully-fledged nuclear program from uranium mines to atomic power reactors.
Washington has expressed skepticism that Iran will stick to its commitments with the EU and says it reserves the right to take Iran's case to the U.N. Security Council on its own.
"Despite the U.S. propaganda Iran has not put aside its right to the (nuclear) fuel cycle and it never will do," Rohani said. "If we had wanted to make a nuclear bomb we would have made one in the last 20 years," he added.
Can you say North Korea??

From the safe distance of many centuries, it is easy enough to scowl in disgust at the Crusades. Religion, after all, is nothing to fight wars over. But we should be mindful that our medieval ancestors would have been equally disgusted by our infinitely more destructive wars fought in the name of political ideologies. And yet, both the medieval and the modern soldier fight ultimately for their own world and all that makes it up. Both are willing to suffer enormous sacrifice, provided that it is in the service of something they hold dear, something greater than themselves. Whether we admire the Crusaders or not, it is a fact that the world we know today would not exist without their efforts. The ancient faith of Christianity, with its respect for women and antipathy toward slavery, not only survived but flourished. Without the Crusades, it might well have followed Zoroastrianism, another of Islam’s rivals, into extinction.

THE STRANGE RULES OF PC
Roger Kimball asks... : "Remember the Enron scandal? My, how The New York Times went to town on that outrage. The oil-for-food scandal dwarfs Enron and involves several major figures on the international stage, beginning with Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the UN. It has been reported but not denounced, at least not by the Times and other organs of politically correct opinion. Why not?"
His answer...
"Some institutions -- and indeed some individuals -- enjoy a sort of plenary indulgence in the court of liberal opinion. They are by definition "saintly." The UN enjoys this semi-beatified status. So do Oxfam, the BBC, and Amnesty International. So do Kofi Annan, Princess Diana, Bob Geldof, and Bill Clinton. So, far that matter, do Ho Chi Minh, Fidel Castro, and, ex officio, Karl Marx. If they do wrong it is only because they are endeavoring to do good. Their intentions are noble, hence their malfeasance is automatically exonerated-indeed, it is not really malfeasance at all but an excess of "idealism." Your mother probably told you that "the road to hell is paved with good intentions." Your mother was right. But her wisdom is too deep -- or perhaps it is not deep enough -- to impress the politically correct partisans of benevolence. "

You're totally right Mr.Spencer.
No-one seems to be able to reach out beyond TVs PC regulations and ask the questions that matter.
The other week on ITV (Britain), a few nights before the election, a program about the war on terror was on, supposedly finding out whether or not Bush's War On Terror has been successful, and also finding out the root causes of terrorism.
This program was without a doubt the most mind-numbingly irritating and biased piece of trash to grace the screens in quite some time. For starters, I don't think Jonathan Dimbleby (an insufferable leftist gobshite if ever there was one) was the man for the job. His opinions were quite obviously off the mark, anti-war, anti-bush, left-wing in their nature therefore not really the kind of bloke who should be hosting a program that asks questions, which the viewer should then answer him/herself, without encouragement or sway from the host. His interviews of terrorists and muslims were sickeningly pointless, his questions written perfectly to induce the kind of answer he wanted to enforce his rhetoric, and totally unscathing, and unintrusive (as Michael Moore would be with his subjects... much as I hate the fat twurp, he gets the desired result... Dimbleby undoubtedly got the desired result, but without adequate information to prove his biased points). He asked all the wrong questions, and when he did get an unexpectedly psycotic rant from the interviewee (one I recall declared that he would happily die for his god, and that it is god will to kill Israelis.... this was put down to desperation in Dimbleby's afterword however... so pathetic), he would either veer off the subject, or the interview would be cut short and go back to the studio, for his analysis, which never sempt to quite take in the most important factors of the interview such as what drives the hatred in these nutters.
His interviews with US/British politicians, Israelis...etc... were exactly the opposite of the inteviews with muslims and terrorists. Scathing , intrusive, with constant interruptions, all of them edited down to nigh perfection... although they still couldn't hide the factual and well confronted nature of one of the white house staffs responses (I can't remember who now, but he gave a great retaliation back to dimwit dimbleby highlighting the fact that their is a hatred of the west among muslims... this was then analysed in the studio to dimbleby's advantage... or so he thought).
Overall no matter how much Dimbleby squawked about how "poverty breeds terrrorism" (which he also somehow managed to blame on the west... like excuse me, but isn't it their problem that they let religion take presedence over science, and technology, and is it up to us to make sure they thrive... idiot) and the "unfairness" of the palestinians situation, it all came across as a left-wing vehercle for undermining Bush just before his re-election...
But this is the depth of our medias coverage into the causes of terrorism among muslims. No wonder so many are still so ignorant.
