Am reminded of an Indo-pak war I once read about. Was it '65 or '71? (OK, I'm a fan of military history but I dont do it for a living.)

Apparently The paki generals & intell' agencies brainwashed their troops saying things like 'a single muslim soldiers is equal to ten hindu soldiers", "Hindus are cowards who'll run when the first shot is fired" etc.

Here's the irony. So intense was the brainwashing that the brainwashers themselves came to believe 'em lies!

The middle management of the paki army did some incredibly stupid things on the battlefield, the only explanation for which is that officers colonel level down believed that crap!

Oh, yeah. you can guess the result. Pak lost both wars. And would've been wiped out and balkanized but for stern US warnings of case-and-desist to India. ('em were Cold war calculations.)

I have a question for Kafira. I know vaguely (there are some things I really, really, really do not want a lot of information on) that Muslims have ritual toilet practices. Would these actually prevent proper hygiene as we know it? Are they something that was perhaps very cutting edge in the seventh century but spread disease in this day and age? In short, could you elaborate on those toilet paper shortages?
Also is there any prayer said alongside these ritual cleansings? The Asher Yatzar is a Hebrew prayer of thanks said after using the bathroom. When I was little I thought it was silly (I was raised as a reform Jew), but as I get older I appreciate traditional things more.

I remember terrible rows in the factory where my late Father worked. The Moslem women would take a milk bottle of water into the toilet cubicle to wash instead of using the toilet paper. I know that paper was plentiful as my Father was IC maintenance and cleaning. They considered the Englishwomen (a mixture of black and white, Christian and Jewish) to be dirty for using paper not water. The Englishwomen didn't care how the Moslem women wiped their bottoms but would get quite annoyed at the slops and mess they always left all over the floors. Then the cleaners would complain to my Dad, plus there was the health and safety issues of slippery floors.

The girl had told the court that Hussain committed the offences when she was attending classes to learn the Koran.

The offences were not reported to the police until last year. Hussain, who came to Britain from Pakistan in 1991, had denied the charges.

Khomeini did not prescribe sex with animals or something like that. every Ayatollah (High ranking muslim scholar) has a "book of laws" in which he descibes his own version of Sharia law. Most of these books are very similar, as many issues in Sharia law are accepted as common among muslim scholars.

The issue about sex with animals is in fact in the section that deals with Halal food (muslim version of Kosher). It basically says what should be done if a man has had sex with an animal. From what I remember in Khomeini's book, the man (perpetutor) himself is put to death and the meet from the animal cannot be consumed.

What ala-sux says about the female Muslim candidate in Ottawa is pure misinformation. First of all, the Ottawa south riding has a muslim voter population of about 7% (much higher than national average of 2%, but hardly "predomionant").

The NDP muslim candiate did not support the party's position on same-sex marriage, and thus was shunned by radical left-wing NDP supporters who voted for the liberal party candidae instead. Still, she (the muslim candidate) received 7000 votes more than the previous NDP canddiate, mostly due to the strong support from the muslim/arab community. So the claim that the muslim community did not support her is ridiculously baseless. At the end, the samll size of teh muslim community was not enough to guarantee her win. She is still an officer with the NDP party in Ottawa.

I wish the second of these fine fellows had included the Koranic references mandating the use of water to clean one's Ayatollah Assahola after defecation. One might consider that, in a desert environment, water should be used to keep the body hydrated, and that simple paper, tree leaves, etc., would be a more economical substitution for cleaning the bum.

I seem to remember reading a non-pc history of the American civil war. It mentioned that the Union government seriously considered trying all the major Confederate leaders for treason, but was told by more than a few legal experts that they would lose and in all probability what the South had done when they separated was legal. In Canada it is perfectly legal for a province to separate, all we have to do to change our constitution (separate) is to win a clear majority on a clear question in a referendum.

That is not to say that I accept or approve of the Grand Ayatollah in any way though.

The Koran mentions that the sun drops into a lake at the end of a chain and thereby implies that the earth is FLAT... but NONE of this is true. 3-) Try explaining to us how the individuality of any human being counts for nothing. then tell us why would being a Muslim absolutely dictate (other than what he is told he must think and do or say) what the individual character of a follower and how being an American would dictate what that person thinks, does, and believes. And how would you know this anyway? Generalities cannot be proved because you are talking about people you do not know and not all of us are subjected to (and limited by) the untruths perpetrated by the koran.

4-) Try proving the Koran is not merely a work of fiction ready for the round file...

When I was a child many people still had the outside lavatories in the garden. Only the welloff had soft paper, most had the hard stuff, many people had squares of newspaper (usually the Daily Mirror) hanging on a string from a nail. Much prized were the squares of paper that fruit came wrapped in, but then you had to be well off to afford fruit in the first place.
This is surreal, it's Christmas Eve and I'm posting to the world on potty training ? ? ?
