A note on the Armanious case

At Jihad Watch we have received a large number of inquiries, both sober and frenzied, about the Coptic family found murdered in Jersey City last week.

As is well known, the Copts in Jersey City and elsewhere have many suspicions about this crime. But when they have voiced these suspicions, they have been frequently denounced as “Islamophobes” – an all-purpose term of abuse used to silence criticism of Islam and of Muslims. And Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio is dismissive of the idea that the killings were religiously motivated: “Is it possible? Yes. Do we have anything that gives us reason to believe this is what it was, factually? No. Nothing indicates that was the prime motivation for this. That we can clearly say.”

Nothing? Law enforcement officials have received information from at least one Copt — a close friend of the Armanious family — indicating that the crime was indeed religiously motivated. This family friend has said that an imam in Jersey City declared this Christian family’s blood “halal,” (i.e., licit to shed), because of their proselytizing activities among Muslims. He has named — by name — a suspect in this crime, whose motive was religious and who has fled the country.

Perhaps there is nothing to this. Perhaps the man who has fled is innocent. But even if he is, the Copts have had perfectly cogent reasons for their suspicions. The Armanious family was outspoken in trying to convert Muslims to Christianity. Hossam Armanious vigorously spread his faith at PalTalk, and his 15-year-old daughter Sylvia displayed similar zeal at Dickinson High School. There is credible evidence that for this activity the family received a death threat. In light of all that, it may be that what needs to be justified is the idea that their deaths were in fact unrelated to that proselytizing activity. Islamic law, the Sharia, has traditionally made it a capital offense both for a Muslim to leave Islam, and for a non-Muslim to attempt to convert a Muslim. Many Muslims take such laws very seriously. The Theo van Gogh murder in the Netherlands indicates that at least some will not hesitate to enforce Sharia penalties even in the lands of the infidels.

But if the killer is never caught, which is a distinct possibility since he could be half a world away by now, Muslim spokesmen will attribute the suspicions of the Copts to a “climate of hysteria” against Muslims, and portray themselves — as they do so often — as victims.

Still, a larger question remains. If the Armanious family did in fact receive a death threat related to their proselytizing on Pal Talk, what are the implications for our free society? If the murders were indeed, as many Copts suspect, a warning to them not to proselytize among Muslims, what does that mean for the free exchange of ideas that has always been one of the central values – perhaps the central value – of the American polity?

The mainstream media has done a poor job of covering this case. It has not bothered to explain that the difficulties Copts experience in Egypt are not “old” or even “centuries-old” (as the New York Times put it) — they are as old as when the Muslim invaders first conquered Coptic Christian Egypt. They don’t come from anything Copts have said or done to Muslims, but from the supremacist nature of Islamic beliefs. But in the media in general there has been no understanding of this and no discussion of the Sharia — or of how apostates in Islam are to be treated, or of what punishment is to be meted out to those who dare (as the Armanious family dared) not to act as the despised and cowed minority they were in Egypt, but as free and equal and proud citizens of this country.

No statement has come from the Hudson County Prosecutors Office that shows any sign that that Office has considered these questions, or fully investigated the Copts’ suspicions and allegations. This may not have been a Sharia-inspired killing on American soil, but nothing that has yet come from Edward DeFazio or anyone else seems to deal adequately with the indications that it was. White House Wilsonians seem intent on bringing “democracy” to Iraq, as if that will somehow solve the problem of Islam, and of the jihad that they persist in identifying solely by one of its tools, terrorism. Meanwhile, an unknown number of Muslims in the United States — possibly including the killer of the Armanious family — are working to solve the problems of Islam by laboring, in one way or another, to bring Sharia to this country.

But few are paying attention to that.

These murders would appear to have national and international implications.

Why is the murder investigation apparently in the hands of the local police force.

If ever the feds should be involved in a murder case, this is the time, this is the case.

This family deserves better, the country deserves better.

Defazio states that he doesn't see anything that suggests these murders are religiously motivated - what absolute bs.

There are Sickos and Psychopaths who do all sorts of bizarre killings without a Religious motive but in this case everything such as binding
of victims, stabbing and slitting their throats points to ritual Islamic executions. Remember the slitting of throats and severing of heads is
commanded in various verses of the Quran. Do not believe robbery was the motive and can be ruled out. Maybe the police and authorities are staying tight lipped because they fear more violence if
the Murderers are Muslims?? Certainly the usual Islamic way all round the globe unless their victims are blown apart by bombs seems to be throat slitting and beheading - this has remained popular with Muslims since the days of their blood thirsty Prophet Nothing like murder done in the traditional way,eh!

"Nothing"?

What about the website with the post (as translated here) "The Associated Press wrote about the incidents that happened in the New Jersey of America after the Muslims killed a Christian American family from an Egyptian origin after an article wrote by the deceased on the internet that demonized Islam."

Maybe it is weak, but "nothing"? Was the translation just wrong? If not, I suppose Mr. DeFazio's office has already identified and cleared the posters to that website string who professed to know "Muslims killed a Christian American family from an Egyptian origin" ...

Fast work, indeed.

So this is how Bush is fighting the war on terrorism, he lets Zarqawi go, and brushes off the murder of the Coptic family, and covers Muslim butt, by caving into CAIR and Muslim sensiblilies.

Bush certainly has a war going on, but it is not against Muslim terrorism, or terrorists.

In fact all he has done is to create, succor and release terrorists, as I note in my response to the next article about releasing Zarqawi

Here is what the International Institute for Strategic Studies says in Strategic Survey 2003/4

The war has focused the energies and resources of al-Qaeda and its followers while diluting those of the global counter-terrorism coalition.’

DeFazio's blindness to the obvious defies belief. At best one could say he wants to avoid premature conclusions that could cause a massive backlash against Muslims in general. I might accept that if he were saying there is no proof the perps are Muslims, but no evidence at all? That dog won't hunt.

I read somewhere, perhaps here in a previous article, that the FBI is involved in the case. If so, there is still hope for the truth to come out.

What about the Home Land Security agency, isn’t this what it was created for? We don’t need another 9/11 to get the DHS off its butt; it may be only four people this time but if they let this one go, who is next.

I heard that the participation of the Copts is increasing on PalTalk; the Armanious’s were four of many Copts died for their faith. My people have been dying for their faith since the martyrdom of St. Mark the apostle (62 A.D.) and I don’t think we are about to stop now.

There must be something else to be done besides logging to chat rooms or posting opinions on web sites. The news agencies are useless in that department; they won’t stop reporting about one stinking insurgent killed in Iraq, whom was trying to bring harm to one of our brave soldiers; but when it comes to four Americans killed in their homes on American soil in such a barbaric way that made it impossible for the bodies to be identified, only one TV news agency put the news on the air once; and I think that this will the end of it.

Mr. Spencer and jihadwatch.com brothers and sisters in the cause, does any one know what can be done?

Scandalous!

The victims in this case are precisely the kind of people who need every bit of support, assistance (and may I add, justice) from America. Every ex-muslim, apostate, christian convert out there needs to know that America is willing to name to enemy and take it head-on without kid-gloves.

The jihadi gasholes are now openly challenging US values and her resolve to defend them bang inside US territory. If this blatant attempt at religious hatred based violence and coercion isn't stamped out, who knows what the emboldened jihadis will do next?

P.S: How much play has this gotten on the local and national media? Been out of the country and just back, don't know much about what's happened in beloved america this past month.

This is just one more pathetic example of the rampant ignorance of Islam in America. How many burglars ritually bind their victims and behead them? They were beheaded, were they not? I wouldn't doubt if the entire ritual sacrifice of these innocent people was videotaped by the perpetrators of this heinous atrocity. There were probably three murderers involved, two to perform the deed, one to record yet another great Islamic victory against the infidels. This was a BLATANT HATE CRIME. Somebody out to steal the silverware steals the silverware and runs. They don't leisurely torture, murder, and mutilate their victims.

Religious hatred, ritual slaughter, one plus one equals two. Instead of submitting to sensitivity training by the likes of the terrorist lovers at CAIR, every police department in this country should be attending wake-up classes on the barbaric, savage doctrine of Islam and what it teaches its zombie, brainwashed acolytes. Islam has arrived in America in all its blood-soaked glory.

This is just the beginning. Our crime statistics for rape and murder will skyrocket in muslim infested areas and we can look forward to gang rapes, drug trafficking, honor killings, and other assorted Islamic perversities that they consider perfectly legitimate and even pious deeds. The best thing the cops could learn early on is that what we consider evil, muslims consider a sacred right and duty. They'll be screaming for Sharia to protect their criminal activities soon.

When Daniel Pearl was brutally murdered , for some time the gruesome details were witheld.
So far i have seen no OFFIcial confirmation of beheading.
Possibly they will suppress this for obvious dhimmy reasons.
If they Have been beheaded or there have been attempts to do this , then this is a Definite sign of a cover up.
Doe anyone have this information?

After the attack on the WTC in 1993, Clinton bent over backwards to spin this as a "criminal offence " not a terrorist attck and warned about become involved in "Islamophobia" (don't blame the perpetrators.
12 years later after many more cover ups of muslim attrocities (in france) little has changed it seems.
The realists point to awful history of Islam and 1400 years of slaughter of Infidels to end immigration of muslims into the western world.
Other middle of the road conservatives blame "extremist Islam" and point out at there is a true peaceful islam which represents a hope for future co existence.
and the leftists who do all they can to ignore and cover up the crime lest we should be accused of racism by revealing the truth.
And it seems that in all except the White house, the leftists are in power.
Islam is a PREDATOR and we are the prey. This is an inescapable truth which must be understood widely.

Our leaders and politicians are all up to their necks in Saudi kickbacks and petro-dollars.That is the REAL PROBLEM, we'd be lucky to find an honest man or woman among them. Don't you think it odd that all ex-Presidents' Libraries have been funded by Saudi Arabia for last thirty years??
I don't personally like Michael Moore but agree there is something fishy, indeed it stinks, that Bin Laden family got out when all other flights were shut down after 9/11?? And what about the granting of visas to Saudis without checking them out - this makes a mockery of U.S Law for everyone else. In fact whoever granted those visas should have got a criminal prosecution.
But it's not only U.S leaders and officials, French, Brits, Germans, all of 'em have their trotters in Saudi gravy train.

Hello all,

I have read the comments here and even Mr Spencer all point to this being done by muslim extremists.

Now that MAY be the case and in if true your comments are valid and even welcome (to an extent).

However please note that this has not been PROVED yet,....people are too readily polaries and need to be brought back to reality.

You can talk about suspicion, about the lack of expertise of your investigators/police force, law enforcement agencies...but please remember this is all innuendo and suspicion....and therfore not enforcable.

The muslim must remain innocent until proved guilty beyond doubt.....that's democracy and rule of law.

Naseem, you state: "The muslim must remain innocent until proved guilty beyond doubt.....that's democracy and rule of law." Bullshit. We heard the same crap back when the Murrah building was bombed in 1995. Muslim support/backing of that attack has been buried. Now you are trying to bury this one behind the veil of innocent until proven guilty. Sorry, that won't wash. Islam is the guilty party, and the followers are merely its arms and legs in carrying out these types of actions so detrimental to the non-islamic world, that good ol' Dar al-Harb.

Let me help you edit your statement just a wee little bit: The muslim is guilty of anti-democratic beliefs and follows the anti-humanist shari'a law, and until he changes his beliefs, will remain guilty. That's from the Law of Survival.

Ramses XII: My condolences for your community! I lived for two years in the Coptic community in Egypt and I understand everything. I have spoken out on numerous occasions for the middle-eastern Christians, and against Islam (providing many examples from the Koran from this very forum, thanks Robert and Hugh!), but I am met with lethargy and ignorance by most, and at worst I have to fear for my job (I work in the airline industry).

The most we can do is continue to speak out and hope that these seeds will flourish at some point.

Unfortunately, I think the only thing which will wake people up is another 9/11, except worse, where the awful truth of Islam will be plain for all to see.

Let's hope the police and the FBI do their jobs.

Agreed except i did not need Michael moore to get my info on the corruption, it goes back all the way to Ibn Saud.Michael Moore merely pilfered what is generally available to the prying eye and made heaps of cash from it.
I actually think the Saudis planned it from the beginning in their desert tents.
They worked out how to use the west's money against them and spread wahhabism throughout the western world. And it has taken fifty years for us to even notice.

-------------------------------------

Fahrenehit includes a brief shot of a Sept. 4, 2003, New York Times article headlined "White House Approved Departures of Saudis after Sept. 11, Ex-Aide Says." The camera pans over the article far too quickly for any ordinary viewer to spot and read the words in which Clarke states that he approved the flights.

Like Clarke, most of the political figures in Fahrenheit 9/11 were not filmed by Moore; he used footage which had been shot by news organizations. The Internet Movie Database lists 40 public figures in the "cast" of Fahrenheit; of these, 37 are listed as from "archival footage."

Some Saudis left the U.S. by charter flight on September 14, a day when commercial flights had resumed, but when ordinary charter planes were still grounded. When did the bin Ladens actually leave? Not until the next week, as the the 9/11 Commission staff report explains:

Fearing reprisals against Saudi nationals, the Saudi government asked for help in getting some of its citizens out of the country….we have found that the request came to the attention of Richard Clarke and that each of the flights we have studied was investigated by the FBI and dealt with in a professional manner prior to its departure.

No commercial planes, including chartered flights, were permitted to fly into, out of, or within the United States until September 13, 2001. After the airspace reopened, six chartered flights with 142 people, mostly Saudi Arabian nationals, departed from the United States between September 14 and 24. One flight, the so-called Bin Ladin flight, departed the United States on September 20 with 26 passengers, most of them relatives of Usama Bin Ladin. We have found no credible evidence that any chartered flights of Saudi Arabian nationals departed the United States before the reopening of national airspace.

The Saudi flights were screened by law enforcement officials, primarily the FBI, to ensure that people on these flights did not pose a threat to national security, and that nobody of interest to the FBI with regard to the 9/11 investigation was allowed to leave the country. Thirty of the 142 people on these flights were interviewed by the FBI, including 22 of the 26 people (23 passengers and 3 private security guards) on the Bin Ladin flight. Many were asked detailed questions. None of the passengers stated that they had any recent contact with Usama Bin Ladin or knew anything about terrorist activity.

The FBI checked a variety of databases for information on the Bin Ladin flight passengers and searched the aircraft. It is unclear whether the TIPOFF terrorist watchlist was checked. At our request, the Terrorist Screening Center has rechecked the names of individuals on the flight manifests of these six Saudi flights against the current TIPOFF watchlist. There are no matches.

The FBI has concluded that nobody was allowed to depart on these six flights who the FBI wanted to interview in connection with the 9/11 attacks, or who the FBI later concluded had any involvement in those attacks. To date, we have uncovered no evidence to contradict this conclusion.

This has been my biggest fear! I read all about how the French ignored the Muslim immigrants who were gang raping so many women in a certain area of France. They refused to put it in their newspapers how many were being gang raped and exactly who was responsible for it. Some women even resorted to wearing veils to be safer when they left their homes, although, they were raping Muslim women, too, who had adopted some western ways of life. So, what happened? The problem worsened and worsened. The women would rarely even report these rapes. When a couple of the women grew up, which was just recently, they wrote books about it. Frances' population was in total shock that this had been happening right under their noses. I thought, this would never happen in America. Yeah, right.

We can't let this happen here. I understand that there are innocent Muslims living here, too, and we certainly do not want them to get hurt, but the public deserves to know the truth. No robbers, or anyone else for that matter, kills with such hatred without a reason to hate. How could how news media show nothing but the Scott Peterson case and not think that an entire family being killed is news worthy? And for the prosecuter to say there is no evidence when the man was clearly threatened to be killed, is just further evidence that they are going to try to cover this up and smooth it over. Americans are not ignorant enough to believe this crap.

I suggest that everyone here email FOX News and the other news stations to complain about the lack of coverage of this story. They should be doing investigations and stories about this...all of them. When FOX News first reported this story, I emailed them and told them that I could not believe they had just reported that Muslims and Copic Christians in Egypt usually lived beside one another peacefully, and then told them what fools they had just made of themselves. Later on that evening, they reported that they did NOT get along. So, it does work to email these people. Everyone needs to go to every news website they know of and email them about investigating and reporting this story asap.

Let me rephrase that--"I only hope we don't have to learn that lesson the HARDEST way."

“Is it possible? Yes. Do we have anything that gives us reason to believe this is what it was, factually? No. Nothing indicates that was the prime motivation for this. That we can clearly say.”

Spot the weasel word in this statement. Doing so will help you read between the lines.

The weasel word is "prime". Delete it, and you have an unequivocal denial of any evidence of religious motivation.

My guess is that the prosecutor would have liked to have made such a denial, but he knows he cannot without contradicting the evidence.

Posted by: montfort [TypeKey Profile Page] at January 25, 2005 8:47 PM

I find this statement incredible (from http://jihadwatch.org// posting below):

"The police and prosecutor are "very scared" of this case. The Muslim community in Jersey City is putting enormous pressure on City Hall to softpedal the case. Says my source: "They [police and prosecutor] want this case to go away quickly because of that."

We already know that the MSM is INTIMIDATED by this case. Now we are told that the POLICE and PROSECUTOR are also INTIMIDATED! This, in AMERICA, not IRAQ! The Jihadists are scaring us here? What kind of justice can the Armanious family receive when those whose job it is to protect them and punish their killers "want the case to go away quickly"?

How can it be that a country that country which sent Al Capone to jail and virtually destroyed the Mafia can be terrified of Muslims? Do we need military troops to protect us against this threat, which law enforcement is afraid to deal with? This should be a front page story in the NY Times! It's disgusting! What the hell? It's only one insignificant "Coptic Christian family" - right? Don't talk to me about justice and equal protection under the law until you give it to this family! Welcome to multicultural America! Ain't it loverly? Rule # 1--All religions, cultures, ethnicities, ad nauseam, are "equal." One is no better or more worthy than another. This includes devil worshippers, and yes, even our avowed enemies--muslims. Just because they are primitive, tribal predators with medieval mentalities, and their religion teaches that they must systematically kill us until we are extinct, they are equal in the eyes of the law and very special in the eyes of the ACLU, who loves and supports them and their evil agenda.
Rule #2- Moral relativism, political correctness, and social "justice" have replaced morality and religion. If people want to worship something, the U.N. is better than God.
Rule #3--Christianity is the bane of mankind and must be destroyed. Who is best equipped to butcher Christians than muslims, who have been doing it for almost 1400 years. So Islam gets preferential treatment and must be appeased and defended, while Christianity is repressed and reviled.
Rule #4---Due to past discrimination against certain ethnicites in racist America, it is illegal to single out any group for special scrutiny, even though muslims are responsible for 99% of the current conflicts and terrorism in the world. We must wait until we are attacked again, at which time the perpetrators of the attacks will die as heroic Islamic martyrs so there won't be anyone to prosecute, and thousands more of us will be dead. Then blanket apologies will be made to our loyal and patriotic muslim citizens for the ensuing backlash, real or perceived. They will celebrate in the streets of America as they did on 9-11 with impunity, but their mendacious, conniving, treacherous imams will hold hands with President Bush in the National Cathedral and smirk while everyone else is praying to "the same God." After the sad memorial service for the innocent victims, we will apologise to the Islamic world for creating the conditions which bred the "few" desperate, hopeless, fanatics who committed another heinous atrocity against evil America.

Saudi Arabia, the breeding grounds of Islamic hatred, carefully laid the groundwork thirty years ago to take over America. They've done an excellent job while we slept. While we fretted over the Cold War and communists, they were buying up America; sending rabid Islamic clerics to man their mosques; building a huge infrastructure to spread their vile religion and influence; and exporting carefully selected Saudis to infiltrate, breed, and pollute this country. A few greedy ambassadors, senators, and our State Department sold us out to the Arabs for the privilege of buying their oil, after we got it out of the ground for them! I hate to say this, but it looks like they're much smarter than we are. Why do they pay millions for P.R. campaigns in America? Why should they care whether we like them or hate them? They also spend millions on Islamic propaganda, and their prime objective is to "spread Islam." Think about it. The conclusions I have reached chill me to the bone.

We no longer respect our country enough to defend it from those who despise and wish to destroy it. If we did, we would have never allowed the first muslim to become an American citizen. The mafia couldn't be brought down today; every case would be thrown out for racial profiling. If anyone dared to say the mafia was an "Italian" organization, can you imagine the ensuing chaos?

Why are we fighting muslims in Iraq and ignoring them in America, muslim enemies that we knowingly allowed to invade our country? Better yet, why are we still allowing muslims to immigrate to America to compound the dangers and threats that already exist? Explain that to me and I will be forever grateful.

If I hear Abu Ghraib or Gitmo mentioned one more time...
