Gaza votes for jihad terror. From AFP, with thanks to Teri:
GAZA CITY (AFP) - The radical Islamist movement Hamas was celebrating a landslide victory in the first ever local elections in the Gaza Strip, winning 77 out of the 118 seats up for grabs, election commission sources said. The mainstream Fatah faction of Palestinian Authority president Mahmud Abbas won just 26 seats while independents and minor parties won the remaining 15 slots in 10 municipalities across the territory in Thursday's election....
Hamas had campaigned on a strong anti-corruption ticket, amid widespread disillusionment among voters about the incompetence and cronyism which has characterised many councils.
Abbas has vowed a crackdown on corruption and to implement sweeping reforms of the Palestinian institutions but the results in Gaza appear to indicate that voters do not trust the establishment party to put its own house in order.
Mushir al-Masri, a spokesman for Hamas, said the results were a damning indictment of the levels of institutional corruption.
"This means that the Palestinian people reject corruption and hope for change to protect its interests," he told AFP.
Reject corruption, choose jihad.

The municipal poll was a test of support for Islamists sworn to destroy Israel, who boycotted a Jan. 9 presidential election won by Abbas on a platform of ending violence. - Reuters
Well today the Reuters journalist isnt being so fluffy about Hamas, they bothered to mention the goal of Hamas is the annihilation of Isreal, not a Palestinian state side be side...

A related question:
Has any islamic political party openly contested any seats at any level in any western country yet?

Voletti.
No. But there's no need when we've got ultra-left wing goverments like in Ontario Canada, who will happily enforce Islamic agendas.

Fortunately Canada does have some rational news coverage:

And the leftist new media up here are terrified of FOX:

btw, kj the Liar- there's a hell of a lot of your kind up here, who moved here from the US like I did, but still vote in the US, like I do. Are they Canadian or American? How far does your hypocrisy reach?

"This means that the Palestinian people reject corruption and hope for change to protect its interests," he told AFP.
Exactly what "change" are we talking about here? HAMAS, of all people, is going to bring peace and prosperity?
Congrats go out to Omar, Nihad and Dougie. Yuck it up while you can.

Speak of the Devil:
Museum of Tolerance Urged Not to Support Extremist Group
Promoter of museum display says 'moderate' Muslims don't follow Quran
(ANAHEIM, CA, 1/26/2005) - The Southern California office of the Council on
American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA) today called on the Simon Wiesenthal
Center Museum of Tolerance (MOT) in Los Angeles to pull its sponsorship
from an event prompted by the efforts of a group known to advocate
extremist and Islamophobic views.
During the January 30th MOT event, an Israeli bus involved in a suicide
bombing and now owned by the Jerusalem Connection, formerly known as
Christians for Israel, will be displayed. SEE:

Jerusalem Connection President Dr. James M. Hutchens, is quoted today in
the Los Angeles Jewish Journal as saying moderate Muslims "don't take the
Quran seriously…because the Quran calls for the destruction of the infidel."

"Muslims Seek 'Control of the World'"
"Wagner writes in his book that Islam has grown in America as a result of a detailed strategy that was already in place long before radical Islamists associated with Osama Bin Laden perpetrated the tragedies of Sept. 11.
"Islam is a world religion with a well-defined culture and a developed strategy for taking control of the world," Wagner writes in the preface of the book."
What else is new?
"Mohammed Lied"
"Mohammed lied, and the trust and faith Muslims have in his revelations is a fraud. The faith Muslims have in Mohammed's immortality and paradise is faith in a hustler. This faith is not fair to these people who have had false doctrine instilled into their culture for hundreds of years through domineering religious dogma."
Boo-hoo. How insensitive. As if atheists haven't said the same of all religions.
This is interesting:
"Why Islam does not belong in America"
"When confronted with the stark contrast between a Christian and Islamic culture, the wealthiest and best-educated media the world has ever known turn their heads and mumble excuses. Thus you have the ritual Islamic murder of a Christian family who fled to America dismissed as a burglary..."

I read something on FrontPageMag.com the other day that noted that it was Israel that, at one point, gave succour to Hamas as a rival to the PLO.

Waterdragon~ lesser of two evils, just like it was during the Reagan years with Afghanistan. Just like it was in WW II... probably in a lot of wars.

Here is what I heard from a Imam when he attempted to mock Jesus as just another Muslim and one of Allah's Prophets.
The Imam denied that God took Jesus up to heaven to sit with him,the usual tripe lasted about 10 minutes and then he adamantly asserted
that the reason why there is no tomb for Muhammed is because he was resurected from the grave and rose to the heavens to be in paradise with Allah.
I almost wet my pants laughing, how could someone be on Earth for so long and yet be so stupid,Islam is a retro-active religion that took parts of the Torah and hijacked the life of Jesus by claiming Muhammed was a Prophet that was taken up to heaven.
The other scam this Imam tried to foist on Muslims was to fabricate a well thought out charade about a look-alike Jesus that was replaced on the cross during the night, the fake Christ was just to appease the Jews that wanted him dead.
Oddly enough though, the Imam did say that the claims were based on stories handed down through history and that unlike Jesus,Muhammed had not one witness to the miracle of resurection and going up in the air to heaven.
BTW,the real paradox for Palestinians is that if there is a statehood given to the Palestinians
it will automatically default to being a "Terrorist producing nation" and be shunned by
most non-Islamic democratic Countries.
The Hamas thugs are much like a dog that chases a bus , everything is fine until it actually catches it and then he dosen't have any plans for what to do with it.
Once the hamas has there way what will they have to whine about as the career victim they have portrayed.

Hopefully though Fatah will see this as a mandate to really fix corruption. One of the problems is that even though some like Abbas may really want to fix the problem, many in the party don't really care. Once they see people voting for Hamas, they may realize that they actually have to fix corruption. This message from the voters could provide the impetus to actually get the government to improve people's lives. It also suggests that as corruption is reduced, the resulting prosperity will blunt the appeal of Hamas. This is why true democracy is the only way to cure the ills of the Middle East. Contrary to elitist views, the poeple will ultimately pick the best course of action.
