I read the article in the Policy Review link. My first impression is that Mr. Fitzgerald is a way better writer.
I was raised to believe that there is neither Western science nor Eastern science, neither Christian science nor Islamic science, just (in this context) Science. The same is apparently not true for Logic.
If his essay is an accurate description of the Muslim belief system, it is overburdened with logical inconsistencies.

Actually, Jay, the USA should've stepped back and let the UN take care of the relief effort. In the time it took for the UN people to decide which 5-star hotel to book into, all the people needing help would've died of hunger, disease, or exposure, and the problem would've gone away.

I thought about that, but control of the relief effort also means control of the money. And history has shown that the UN cannot be trusted with money.
A little off topic about the UN: I think the "Bill Clinton as UN Secretary General movement" has a good chance of success. The UN bureaucracy has to realize that, with a former president at its head, the US will have a more difficult time withdrawing from the UN.
