An update on this story from the New York Times, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist. It's a strange case, and the Times in this story seems fairly sure there's nothing to it. Maybe there isn't, but their portrayal of the girl as such a deeply religious Muslim that even overhearing discussions by other teenagers about boyfriends offended her deeply is interesting: to the Times, probably, it is evidence that she couldn't possibly have entertained thoughts of being a suicide bomber.
However, Islamic religious motivations are used all over the world (yes, not just in Israel, but in Kashmir, Thailand, Indonesia, and elsewhere) to recruit suicide bombers. Is the Times, like so many others, assuming too much about the state of Islam today?
For years, the father said, he watched as his daughter, now 16, became more and more drawn to the family's Muslim religion. At 14, she began wearing a full-length veil and teaching religion classes at mosques around the city.A year ago, she withdrew from her Manhattan high school because, a school official said, she felt uncomfortable with typical teenage banter. She told her family she wanted to go to an Islamic all-girls school, and when they could not afford to send her, she chose to study at home.
The father, a Bangladeshi watch salesman who describes himself as far more devoted to American education than to prayer after 13 years as an immigrant illegally in the United States, said he pushed for his daughter to return to public school.
Then last fall, the daughter he also describes as loving Bollywood soap operas and shopping with girlfriends startled him and her mother by seeking their approval to marry a young American Muslim man they had never met and whom she barely knew. The father refused the marriage overtures, which were made by the young man's father in a call from Michigan....
He is sure that his visit to the police set off the F.B.I. investigation that led to a chilling assertion, in a government document, that the girls are "an imminent threat to the security of the United States based on evidence that they plan to be suicide bombers." Family and friends call that absurd.
The document, provided to The New York Times by a federal agent on Wednesday, did not describe the nature of the evidence. Yesterday, after repeated inquiries, officials from several agencies involved in the investigation, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the F.B.I. and the New York Police Department, would not comment on the case....
In an interview at the Islamic Center of North America in Queens, the Bangladeshi girl's mother said that her daughter had experienced problems over her religion at the High School for Environmental Studies in Manhattan, which led to her enrollment in a Georgia-based correspondence course. She said the girl came home crying from school because of upsetting remarks, some directed at her Islamic dress. But the parent coordinator at the school, Karen Hundley, said that students at the school come from many ethnic and religious backgrounds and get along very well....
She cited an incident in which the teenager stayed home for days last year after hearing two girls discussing a boyfriend.
"A lot of things other kids did offended her sense of religion," Ms. Hundley said, citing jokes about movies and an ethics class that mentioned condoms....
A 17-year-old girl who spoke on condition that she be identified only by her first name, Shahela, said she, too, had opted for home schooling and was "very close" to the Bangladeshi girl. She called the notion that her friend could be recruited as a suicide bomber a terrible mistake.
Their three-year friendship, she said, revolved around Islam, prompting both to learn Arabic and to teach classes on Islam to young women at two mosques. "We talked about what was going on in Palestine, suicide bombings, and I know she's completely against it," she said....

Yes, Ms. Hundley, there are a lot of people like that in America. Most of them are evangelical christians. The good news for Muslims is that pretty soon, their christian buddies will get rid of those satanic classes.
Oh what strange webs we weave when first we practice to convert.

... eatting hotdogs, porkchops, ribs, sausage, and bacon; equal recourse to the law, no child marriages, enjoying pornography, shaking hands with women, keeping dogs as pets just because we love them, welcoming Jews into America, let homosexuals live, etc. etc.
Religious nuts find that aaaaall kinds of things "offend their sense of religion" (it should say NONsense of religion), which naturally makes me wonder: why move to America? Why not Iran? Why not Pakistan? Why not Saudi Arabia? Why not Jordan? Why not Egpyt?
Why? Oh yeah: to make money and preach Dawa.

Gee KJ, Did we wake up on the wrong side of the bed today?
I am an Evangelical Christian and I would never think of trying to stop you from enjoying your porn, your gay sympathies, your high fat foods or any of the other things you seem to think I want to keep you from enjoying...
God is pro choice (No barbed wire around that Tree in Eden) and so am I...
Can you be as liberal as I? Will you allow me to choose NOT to have porn, gay lifestyles, and all manner of disgusting human pastimes crammed down my throat and the throats of my children?

Was she, by any chance, watching the (formerly known as) Prince music video about a poor, harassed Muslim girl, subjected to the unending and merciless "Islamophobic' intolerance of infidel, immoral America to the point that she dreamed of becoming a suicide bomber? (It couldn't be the Koran, now could it?)
Thanks a lot Prince (of Dumbness).
Good raw meat for the id.
(Maybe the father can sue the little singer for being an 'enabler' and spreading romanticized psychological terrorism? I'd love to see that court case...)

It's time an entrepreneur created an outlet for these tormented young jihad prone Muslims.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I introduce to you the concept of NETHERland, where youth longing for jihad can fulfill their holy desires without harming anyone but themselves.
See here before you the Allah Wannah Big Bang. The bumper car phenomenon where the faithful can drive wildly through virtual streets of the Middle east, maneuver a miniature black Mercedes or white pick up into a group of children or worshippers and martyr* themselves.
Or imagine this: Strap on your virtual reality goggles and choose the location of your next jihad! Visit the cafes and marketplaces of Jerusalem, ride the number #2 bus in French Hill or drop into a line of Iraqi recruits! Kill* the infidel and those who collaborate with them!
*Package includes C4** and choice of ball bearings, nails, broken glass and bomb belt. Backpack, attache, guitar case, box of detergent or baby food not included. Additional tax and charges may apply. No money back guarantee. Group discounts available.
** NETHERland not responsible for incomplete martyrdom, loss of limbs, eyesite, mental debilitattion, or paralysis.

Uhm. I am reading both SusanC and kj... and somehow mostly in agreement with both of you. Having a little trouble figuring that one out. (I do take exception to this one: 'Yes, Ms. Hundley, there are a lot of people like that in America. Most of them are evangelical christians.' I am not an evangelical but that is a smear).
kj, I will say it again (and I wish it would be Remembered): it is not What you are for (mostly). It is How the leadership and the academics/media who support them, are trying to implement it. One cannot correct past wrongs by subjecting a whole other set of people (mostly Christians) to similar ones.

After viewing the video by Prince that BS mentioned (Cinnamon Girl) Prince should change his name once again to the more accurate name of Pauper Dhimmi. This is one low budget pos video and may have been this crazy religious girl’s favorite music video. She would need to buy the single through because the rest of the songs on his recordings contain very non islamic messages. Including sexual lyrics and four letters words arranged to a most un mohammad like blend of rhythmic instrumental sounds. In addition to the funky beats and sensual lyrics we are treated to the occasional girly man shriek that sounds like someone just stomped on Prince's toes. His trademark I guess. owwwwaaaaaooo
A couple of observations on the video, first, if instead of whites teasing the muslim girl it was reversed and muslims were portrayed as being the bullies, Cair would be all over this, threatening to shut down Prince concerts and filing lawsuits with the record company etc. Second, schools are very integrated these days so why weren’t there any blacks or latinos or asians teasing the muslim girl,(members of these minority groups make up approx 90% of violent street gangs in the US) the only blacks in the video were shown as innocent bystanders, only whites were smeared and displayed as intolerant thugs. Prince's video is insensitive at best and maybe racist. As if a muslim girl wearing a headscarf in an inner city school wouldn’t ever get teased by the other minorities. And so, what is Prince's message, it appears that he is saying that muslims have very thin skin and if another kid grabs their bicycle handlebars or turns around in class to look at them then they are going to start fantasizing about becoming a suicide bomber. He's saying, accept muslims or else they might blow you up. This video may be looked at as condoning terrorism. If not then Prince is continuing to push a guilt agenda by showing the tear streaming down the muslim girls face and it appears he's saying it's all our fault. Way to go Prince maybe now they won’t bomb your concerts, you pussy.
Prince is a certified dhimmi dumbass. All that’s lacking is showing him bowing down to the Koran and wearing a turban. If this self admiring narcissistic fool spent less time preening himself he would realize that if the muslims get their way he won’t have no where to play.

PS: Ha, good one Kemaste.
Gary, kj's just going to spit on that olive branch and slap you across the face with it.

In a previous post this month I gave a link
to an Islamic site that explained Khalifah and Jihad, the major tips given for converts in the West was to focus and Islam as the ONLY true religion and one of Peace.
It also advises to surround the convert with others you know that portray the same peaceful
image of Islam, the real kicker was the final bit that mentioned that once the person is steeped in the "Friendly" Islam you then work on encouraging them to learn Arabic for the true understanding of the Quran and Islam.
CAIR and their ilk are projecting a version of Islam in the West that is more of a veneer of LIES than the solid truth of Muhammed's murderous and pedophilic life of crusades and communism.
If the 911 hijackers have nothing to do with Islam, then Islam has nothing to do with Muslims
and they created a self-sustaining faith by Jihad to convert people and death for those that leave.

Her being a “devout Moslem”, leads one to conclude her acceptance of Jihad
would be something devout Moslems would never question. To question such, is to question Mohammad’s authority and Allah’s existence. A Moslem would never consider such.

I think you meant to say just specific organized religions.
I do not believe you include your own religion in that category, do you?

Speaking to the point of bullsheet Prince's dumass video, you are right about the simplemindedness of showing the bigots as being only white. Considering the level of and acceptance of nonsensical but vicious conspiracy lies about evil whites and Jews in the black community, one has to be pretty dense to ignore the bigotry of the black community. Fact is, most non-white immigrants tend to think even worse of blacks based on their punkish, bigoted behavior than even your average GOP white person. Even African immigrants tend to avoid and despise the homeboys. But leave it to the media and the entertainment elite, who seem to celebrate black pathology.
Face it, if these Muslims didn't like America and they were illegals to boot, there was a simple solution for this little vixen: leave!

KJ:
I do indeed appreciate your frank recognition that Islamofascism is a real threat to national security. Further, I'm not one to defend the Republican Party come Hell or High Water when it richly deserves the Hell and High Water it gets. And devout though I be, I know the follies and foibles of my Evangelical brethren far better than you--including that they sometimes forget they stand for the book that tells us the life of faith begins with repentence and that tells us we're not going to be perfect this side of glory. And, this may surprise you, having been raised as a secular liberal who later read a bit of church history, I'm well aware that there's a lot of the 19th century Evangelical conscience floating around among my liberal countrymen--and that some of the liberals' engagement of tongue before brain represents a common failing of their evangelical grandparents. And, I can even accept that maybe, you're still stuck in a sociological definition of "Christian" that embraces anyone who was ever baptized, or whose grandfather was, or who ever passed through a Christian School, including the likes of Adolf Schickelgueber, Vladimir Illich Ulyanov, Zhou En-lai, and Iosip Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili.
However, did you ever entertain the notion that missionaries were the minions of an evil Western colonialism, and part of the just grievances people may have had against colonial regimes?
If so, consider:
My generation of high schoolers learned no more about William Jennings Bryan, that large-hearted champion of woman suffrage and the working poor, than that he was the dopey villain of the Scopes Trial; while the Communist Clarence Darrow was a hero worthy of our admiration (even if he believed that the millennium had arrived on the Soviet kholkhoz--and if that wasn't the sin of vain credulity, I don't know what is). If we ever heard the name of William Wilberforce, it was as a name used in an example of witty allusion. It was from outside reading, kin, and friends that those of us with Far Eastern connections learned that "missionary" meant a guy who convinced great-grandpa to let grandma learn to read (SCANDAL!), and keep her feet in the shape they were supposed to be (WORSE SCANDAL!--the one argument with great-grandma that the old patriarch ever won)--not a minion of gunboat diplomacy.
Well, tired of hearing "fundamentalist" as a term of abuse, we start forming our own schools with our own money (it's sort of a sacred tradition with us) or invest in time to school our kids at home. Then what? Under Pres. Dhimmi Khader, the new D. of Ed. goes after us because we don't had 12% minority enrollment--never mind that we have 7% in a community where minorities are only 4%. When the county wants to raise property tax and people tug at my social conscience about how it will help the schools, I think to myself. "Well, do I want to support missionaries of modern nihilism who mascarade as 'public' school teachers when I'll never be able to sell my house for the amount the county assesses it at?" I vote "NO", tell people why, and I'm now hated by every Dem in town.
Further, we, for some reasons outlined above, abandoned the party of our parents and grandparents just in time for Pres. Dhimmi Khadr's time of troubles. So, the NYSlimes and Wash. Compost invents the term "Islamic fundamentalism" to suggest that Ayatullah Cockamamie is somehow in cahoots with us. Even if the election of Big Bill Clinton showed how some of us want oh-so desperately to believe that the Democratic Party isn't our sworn enemy, we get accused of being a fascist fifth column seventy years after Franco marched on Madrid (and nobody bothers to note that in our own churches, we vote on who gets to deacon, elder, or pastor!)
Well, if Third World peoples had a right to be pissed about colonial regimes that taxed them for things they didn't like and a neo-colonialist attitude that specializes in misrepresenting them in lecture hall and publication, don't you think that there are plenty of Americans who might not also have a just grievance or two, too?
