Islamic leaders, 2 others held in California terror probe

Things got bad, and things got worse, I guess you will know the tune. Oh Lord, stuck in Lodi again. Islam is, of course, the most fantastically complex religion in the world. That is why not just one, but two imams of the Lodi mosque, as well as innumerable other imams and Islamic teachers around the world, can devote their entire lives to the study of the Religion of Peace and still come away thinking that it commands them to wage war against unbelievers. Behold the awesome complexity! From CNN, with thanks to all who sent this in:

(CNN) -- Federal agents searched the homes of two Islamic leaders in Lodi, California, and have made four arrests since Sunday, part of an ongoing terrorism investigation, according to the FBI and witnesses.

Two of those arrested are top Muslim leaders in Lodi, including one who publicly condemned the September 11, 2001, terror attacks and issued a declaration of peace with Christian and Jewish leaders in Lodi three years ago.

The other two are a father and son, identified as 47-year-old Umer Hayat and 22-year-old Hamid Hayat. The son allegedly lied about his attendance at an al Qaeda training camp in Pakistan, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Details of the investigation by the Joint Terrorism Task Force based in Sacramento will be made public Wednesday morning and until then officials are saying little about the case.

The two Islamic leaders -- Muhammed Adil Khan and Shabbir Ahmed -- were detained on immigration charges and will face an immigration hearing, according to FBI Special Agent John Cauthen.

Khan is the former imam of the Lodi Muslim Mosque and Ahmed is the current imam, according to Lodi News-Sentinel religion reporter Ross Farrow, who has interviewed both men in the past.

Khan has been working to establish the Farooqia Islamic Center, an Islamic charter school for young children in Lodi, Farrow said.

In the days following the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, Khan condemned the attacks, Farrow said. Several months later, Khan joined the leaders of local Christian churches and a synagogue to issue a Declaration of Peace condemning terrorism and stressing the common origins of each religion, Farrow said.

Showing my age, but aren't you confusing The Band (Lodi) with Three Dog Night (Bad Moon) -- or am I really showing my age because I'm the confused party?

Maybe I should just give a listen to Neighbourhood Bully on Bob Dylan's Infidels.

Into this house we’re born
Into this world we’re thrown

There’s a killer on the road
His brain is squirmin’ like a toad
Take a long holiday
Let your children play
If ya give this man a ride
Sweet memory will die

"Hamid advised that he specifically requested to come to the United States to carry out his jihadi mission," according to the affidavit. "Potential targets for attack would include hospitals and large food stores."

For a religion of "peace", they sure do love violence to advance their religion of "peace".

They are just following the quran, deceiving the infidels. Men like these make it hard to believe that any moderate muslims exist.
"Two of those arrested are top Muslim leaders in Lodi, including one who publicly condemned the September 11, 2001, terror attacks and issued a declaration of peace with Christian and Jewish leaders in Lodi three years ago." Can we believe any muslims?

Never ceases to amaze me that they "get off the hook" by being deported for immigration violations only. It's a $$ thing = cost more to prosecute than to deport, but then we're just deporting them so they're free to continue their activities elsewhere. If you're on this soil, and you commit a crime, regardless of immigration status, here's your going to jail card!

Christians and Jews beware...

The myth of dialogue is being used by the islamists in order to gain credibility.

Check out your own houses of worship...if they are having a dialogue with muslims, see if these muslims are affiliated with any of these radical groups:

MPAC, CAIR, ISNA, AMA, MSA, etc.

Start making some noise people...look at what's going on!

A while back I remember reading the blog of an American Muslim apostate. I dont recall the address and I think that even when I read it the blogger had stopped writing. But he was incredibly articulate, and one of his posts was a detailing of all the times he listened whilst imams and respected members of the community met Jews and Christians in this 'faith outreach programme', and made statements of friendship about Jews, and all the rest of it, but behind their backs spoke the most vile, hateful, death-inspiring curses of hatred upon the Jews. It was one of the many reasons why this individual had left Islam. But this always stayed with me, and concurs with other statements I have heard along these lines.

I suppose this is just taqiyaah in full effect.

Waterdragon 52: neither. Both songs were authored by the greatest West Coast band in the sixties, the guys who were briefly, after the Beatles dissolved, the world's best-selling guitar band before they themselves broke up - the one and only, inimitable Creedence Clearwater Revival! (Hoooray!)

Apologies, Paolo. I wasn't much of a a CCC fan, so I'd quite forgotten them.

As for Robert's "Religion of Peace" question -- let's just say that the Islamic concept of peace is poles apart from Benedict Spinoza's. Spinoza defined peace as a state of being wherein one lived free of fear and not merely the absence of outright hostilities, that may be closer to the Islamic one, wherein "peace" means that all and sundry are part of one big fear-filled umma that dares not speak out against tyrants.

I actually prefer the CNN story rather than the Foxnews story on the same episode. Fox played up the father/son angle with one or two lines appended at the end referring to the imams.

In my humble opinion, the local mosque connection is the more compelling.

And these imams are surely not even the tip of the iceburg of the Jihadists and Jihadist sympathizers in California and across the Western United States; several Muslim Student Associations in the West blatantly preach Wahhabi and Salafist dogma, and then try to cover it up with 'nice-nice' da'wa; and remember Hatem Bazian and the 'intifada against America'?

http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/ReadArticle.asp?ID=12997

These groups and individuals are threats to the lives of Americans. We already know there exist plans to attack the United States by smuggling Atta-type murderers across the border; its old news.

http://www.jihadwatch.org/archives/003923.php

http://www.jihadwatch.org/archives/003592.php

And what groups, what people would aid them? Any teenager of moderate intelligence could figure out a plan that might succeed. Secretly help nameless murderers into the country, let them do their deed, which erases their physical existence, and then proclaim 'shock' that such a thing could happen.

Homeland Security must begin to identify enemies of the United States based on ideology and not on provable intent to commit a crime. The stakes are too high. Those who ideologically support groups that would murder American citizens should have the burden of proving that they are not a threat to the United States.

One would hope that such a principle could be established by argument and our democratic process. The only other way to see the rationality of the principle is to suffer the consequences of not having thought, not having acted, not having had the sense to do what should have been done.

The burden of proof in the court of public opinion is to demonstrate to Infidels, who make up 99% of this country and 100% of those who actually created this country, its political and social arrangements, that those who believe in Islam, who take what is written in the Qur'an as the literal Word of God that cannot be interpreted away, who believe that Muhammad is uswa hasana (in the Qur'anic phrase), the perfect model for all time, and hence what he said and what he did and even when he was silent, as recorded in those Hadith deemed "authentic" by such muhaddihthin as al-Bukhari and Muslim, and what he did as recorded in his sacralized biography, or Sira, can still believe and support an Infidel polity, and the political and social understandings that support that polity -- and support them forever, not merely with taqiyya-lip service, nor only until such time as Islam has become more powerful and Muslims can go in for the kill. And this will require a complete frankness about the theory and practice of Islam, and an acknowledgement of such things as the Jihad-conquest of vast territories that were once inhabited entirely by Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, Hindus, and Buddhists, recognition of such historical events as the killing of 60-70 million Hindus, recognition that Infidels too have a right to a permanent sovereign state even within the Middle East, and with defensible borders so as to ward off any temptation of those who insist, as almost all Muslims do, that Muslims have a right and indeed a duty to spread Islam by all means possible, until it covers the globe.

If these things continue to be obfuscated or lied about, more Infidels will learn about Taqiyya and kitman. As we have seen, not only here but in many other cases, it is entirely possible, it is a matter of course, for Muslim clerics, spokesmen, and others to "smile, and smile, and be a villain," and to piously engage interfaith outreach, and denounce terrorism before the Infidel audiences, and then, behind backs, plot and plot and plot. This can only go on for so long, before Infidels will have had their fill.

And once they have had their fill, and begun to study Islam in depth -- but not in the manner of the psychically marginal, such as would-be converts of the Lindh and Richard Reid variety, but as sensible people in full possession of their faculties, and disinclined to see their own civilization simply disappear through the temporary criminal negligence of our journalists, our academics, our political leaders -- they will, precisely to the extent that they study the theory and practice of Islam, be filled with dismay, horror, and a resolution not to give an inch, not for all the pieties expressed in any collection of "interfaith outreach" charades.

The nonsense is even coming to an end in much of Europe. It only takes someone like Oriana Fallaci, or Bat Ye'or, to begin to say what everyone is thinking, but each is afraid to say openly, for the floodgates to open.

And what will be swept away will not, I think, be the Infidels.

Posted by: Hugh [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 8, 2005 3:50 PM

What's interesting to me is how typical the response of the leader of the Muslim community is, almost as if these are scripted "talking point" to use with the press whenever a Muslim is suspected of treasonous activity.

1. Protest the arrested Muslim's innocence no matter how daming the evidence.Claim the arrested traiters are being targeted for being Muslim.

2. Profess your love of America in words though not in deeds.

I realize that people are innocent until proven guilty, but according to the government one of the men admitted training in an Al Qaeda camp and plotting to blow up hospitals and grocery stores in the US. What these men are accused of doing is indefensible and Muslims should know that. With each story like this more and more infidels are waking up to true nature of Islam.

a terrorist family that was put to slaughter Americans for Allah.

by this overt Anti-Muslim bias in the media.

Anyone else remember this?

Hey I'm the first from LODI to post!

The ice cream man is a jihadi, so Van Halen parody's are also in order.

I remember those imams at the 9/1l memorial unity prayr service. They prayed in arabic, no one knew what they really were saying, now I have a pretty good idea. "Thank you for destroying those infidels today, let us have one among us go to Pakistan and learn how to blow up Food 4 Less, or better yet the supper Wal-mart once it is fianlly built.

Posted by: Nick [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 8, 2005 5:50 PM

Hugh is correct, of course. The relevant ideology can be adequately captured by the aforementioned set of classic Islamic dogmas, irrefutable to the minds of adherents. Holding these beliefs:

1) that "what is written in the Qur'an as the literal Word of God that cannot be interpreted away".

and

2) that "Muhammad is uswa hasana (in the Qur'anic phrase), the perfect model for all time, and hence what he said and what he did and even when he was silent, as recorded in those Hadith deemed "authentic" by such muhaddihthin as al-Bukhari and Muslim, and what he did as recorded in his sacralized biography, or Sira".

are sufficient to establish the potential of a security threat to an Infidel polity and society.

Given the context, that is, the existence of a global Jihad raging against the United States and other Infidel nations that endangers the lives of every civilian, from elderly to children, the security threat made even more acute. Infidel societies and governments must debate and fashion laws (relating to immigration, deportation, search and seizure, surveillance, etc.) and methods of law enforcement that can effectively combat the Jihad and those potential supporters of the Jihad, i.e., those who hold the above beliefs .

Muslims in Lodi ¿Que Va? Increible.

Lodi is the armpit of California, nothing but truckers, red necks and Hispanic farm workers.

Muslims don't pick fruit and vegetables, so who are they ministering to?

More likely doing Da'wa amongst the field hands.

It's THAT simple.

It's the only solution.

The suicidal insanity of failing to recognize this self-evident fact will get one killed and cause what's left of our great country to disappear forever.

And now back to Israel where (W)ahabbi is giving genocidal, Jew-killing, arab-muslim-terrorist leaders 50 million MORE dollars and their own PLO terror state...

Hey wait a minute.
Lodi has more than Mexicans and RedNecks. We have a lot of German escapees from the Dakotas living here too.
Lodi is not a pit. Stockton, 8 miles to the south is a pit and as big as a pit it is, Stockon is not the arm pit of California. That honor goes to FresNeck and Bakersfield, the two arm pits of CA.

Lodi is also one of the areas with the fastest appreciating real estate around. My house went for $167,000 23 months ago, now it is appraised at $340,000. Needless to say I want to sell and move before anybody notices what a pit this place is. But hey, if they have been to Stockton, Lodi looks pretty darn good even with a few bullet holes in the for sale sign.
