Tarik Shah and Rafiq Abdus Sabir update from AP, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
New York - Two U.S. citizens accused of being al-Qaida loyalists pleaded not guilty to terrorism charges on Tuesday.An indictment unsealed in federal court in Manhattan late Monday charged Tarik Shah, 42, and Dr. Rafiq Abdus Sabir, 50, each with a count of conspiring to provide material support to Osama bin Laden's terrorist network....
Prosecutors allege Sabir, an Ivy League-educated doctor, agreed to treat holy warriors in Saudi Arabia. Shah, a jazz musician and a self-described martial arts expert, allegedly agreed to train them in hand-to-hand combat.
Court papers filed last month described Shah's zeal to train "brothers" for urban warfare.
Both men allegedly pledged their allegiance to al-Qaida during a May 20 meeting in the Bronx that was secretly recorded....
Shah is "charged with wanting to give al-Qaida members karate lessons," his attorney, Anthony Rico, told reporters. "The concept in and of itself is ridiculous given the seriousness of terrorism."
Yeah, it isn't as if a jihad terrorist might need to fight anyone. He would be too busy waging the jihad within his soul to conform his life to the will of Allah.

Why are they being called holy warriors. Holy is wholely without meaning in that sentence. They aren't holy warriors they are fanatical terrorists. I'm surprised you didn't comment on that Robert.

I confess I didn't notice. It is appalling that AP would present this designation without qualification.
Nonetheless, I am in one sense glad they did: the more Americans hear that these men are fighting a religious war, a fact continually ignored and downplayed in the American media, the better informed they will be. And forewarned is forearmed.

No, Carolyn2, the media is just totally dhimmified and cannot see their own hypocracy -- snide and condescending toward observers of faiths they are familiar with (Christianity and Judaism), while they are deferential to followers of Islam.

F.G.--good job. I looked at the S.F. Chronicle article referenced above, and it, too, said 'holy warriors'. Apparently, no one caught it before you.
Gotta wonder, though. Who's stating 'holy warriors', the prosecutors or the press?

I, for one will never be afraid of the 'holy warriors of islam'. I am prepared for them... as all infidels should be duly prepared.
I do not fear the swords of death that they weild. I do not fear the rhetoric that they spew. I do not fear the islamic threat to Western society, even as it flies in my face as a conscious American Citizen. I do not fear their threats of violence. I do not fear what is happening in Europe or in Russia. I do not fear islam. I detest it. And, I believe with my whole heart that most of America detests islam.
Let's look at where we are right now. In WWII, we stood together against the threat of Naziism... islam is the same threat. Yet we stand down? Why?
islam Calls for the extermination and elimination of all things non-islamic. Does this 'religion' reek of naziism? Didnt' the Nazi's call for the same extermination and elimination?
WTF is wrong with us? Why are we so blinded by PC politics? Are we willing to sacrifice our own children, our heritage and our futures over the 'feelings of arabs and muslim sensibilities'? arab/muslim Sensibilities... what an effin oxymoron!!!
