SHARM EL-SHEIK, Egypt - A rapid series of car bombs and another blast ripped through a luxury hotel and a coffeeshop in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheik early Saturday, killing at least 83, a hospital official said. Terrified European and Arab tourists fled into the night, and rescue workers said the death toll could still rise.The attack, Egypt's deadliest terror hit ever, appeared well coordinated. Two car bombs, possibly by suicide attackers, went off simultaneously at 1:15 a.m. just more than 2 miles apart. A third bomb, believed hidden in a sack, detonated around the same time near a beachside walkway where tourists often stroll at night.
A total of 83 people had been confirmed dead, said Dr. Saeed Abdel Fattah, manager of the Sharm el-Sheik International Hospital where the victims were taken. Among the dead were two Britons, two Germans and an Italian, he added, and Czech officials said one Czech tourist was also killed. Rescue workers were still searching for victims at some attack scenes.
Several hours after the attacks, a group citing ties to al-Qaida claimed responsibility for the explosion on an Islamic web site. The group, the Abdullah Azzam Brigades, al-Qaida, in Syria and Egypt, was one of two extremist groups that also claimed responsibility for October bombings at the Egyptian resorts of Taba and Ras Shitan that killed 34. The group also claimed responsbility for a Cairo bombing in late April.
The authenticity of the statement could not be immediately verified.
But a top Egyptian official said there are some indications the latest bombings were linked to last fall's Taba explosions.

This "minority" of Islam yet flourishes and gains sophistication. How DO they do it? Such a tiny rabble, such a small army of Islamists. You'd think someone might see something, report something, STOP the bombers or talk them out of their "minority" mindset.

I saw a great comment on this at FR regarding the "Islamists" demands:
The Egyptians must get out of all Muslim lands.
I think that sums up the madness. In reality, what they are really saying is "Infidels must be killed everywhere. Muslims who associate with Infidels are apostates and deserve the same fate. The global jihad to conquer the world is ramping and you can't stop us, you PC diseased infidels. You can't even name us by our name - Muslims. Victory is ours."
I saw a Bush clip today from some speech he gave yesterday I guess. Again, he said something like 'all religions must be free to worship.....' Whatever. Norquist, Esposito and all the other Muslim agents surrounding Bush have completely brainwashed him and now pull the strings.

These bombs are designed to terrorize Westerners from visiting or residing in Islamic nations. Meanwhile Muslim numbers in Europe grow by leaps and bounds via immigration and the full tilt employment of the Islamic baby factors. Their multiple wives. One Muslim shot down yesterday versus about 150 Europeans killed in the last few weeks, many other maimed. Quite a kill ratio. Wake up European sheep.
The other reason for bombs is to ruin Egyptian tourism and it's contribution to Egypt's economy. Aren't I stating the obvious?

Hugh.... Those who wrote this website don't always have good grammar and spelling. But their on-line history of Jihad is very detailed as far as Jihad wars all over the world since the founding of Islam. Over and over Muslim armies engage in deceit, treachery and mass slaughter

It is difficult to see any alternative in this war but separation and internment of ALL muslims in Dar al-harb(lit. abode of war - all non Muslim countries), and massive deportations, voluntary or otherwise, and requirement of loyalty oaths (IN THE NAME OF ALLAH) for all who stay, with special status outside of Dar al-harb for Muslim allies. Tony has to recall Parliament for an emergency session.Sad sad sad.

My enmity for Islam is now doubled: I am a product of Sicilian ancestors on both sides.
Genes have a way of never forgetting. None of this is surprising.

This statement ignores the fact that the British who colonized India took India away from the Muslims and marginalized Muslim influence in Indian society and politics, and then the British helped to civilize and educate and strengthen Hindus so that, when the day came that Hindus took India back for themselves, they were strong enough to win at least the majority of India back from Muslims -- though there were horrific civil wars waged against them by Muslims over the years after Independance.
The British should have stayed to continue managing India -- it might have prevented the horrific wars for Pakistan, Bangladesh etc.

This has been the psyche of the Bedouin Arabs who inhabited the Arabian peninsula. The people who came from the same stock,, who lived further north in Mesopotamia had a different geographic and climatic environment. They developed advanced riparian civilizations on the banks of the Farath (Euphrates) and Tigra (Tigris). The Babylonian and Assyrian civilizations of Hamm-ur-rabi and Nabu-chad-nazar, were developed by the same Semitic people who lived in peninsular Arabia. So the temperament of a same ethnic people (the Arabs) could be entirely different, depending on the environment in which they resided.
The Mesopotamians were not Arabs, a different race entirely. The descendants of these mesopotamians live in South West Iraq, called Marsh Arabs, they have the round heads as seen on Babylonian and Akkadian cylinder seals, while the Arabs have long thin heads. (Caveat the Marsh "Arabs" are now interbred with mongols, Persians and Arabs.
I'm going to start the practise of using "Arab" when I speak of Muslims, except for the Saudi's, but even then the slave trade had diluted their genes, in fact I suspect that the Arabs are actually an admixture of Ethiopians, Nubians and an aboriginal caucasoid stock (such as Hittite exiles, and the pre Menes Egyptians from the lower Nile.
Arabs have engaged in revisionism, claiming that everyone in no Africa, the Mid East, even Bahrain were Arabs, or more obfuscatorily semites.
Semite is a language group, not a race or ethnicity, just like Indo European, shall we call a Nisei or Philipinno American an IndoEuropean because they speak English as their mother tongue.
Most "Arabs" aren't Arabs at all, but a hodge podge of peoples whose identity of Arab has been slathered on by the conquering Bedouin, and the imposition of their ideology hence language of the ideology.
That's the trick the Arabs try to pull off.
For those with time and a little money I highly recommend all books by Sandra Mackey, in this regard (the ethnicity of Marsh Arabs or Mesopotamanians) The Reckoning: Legacy of Saddam Hussein and The Iranians: Persia, Islam and the Soul of a Nation (also her The Saudis: Inside the Desert Kingdom is worth a read).
