Of course, it has already been raging, but this is a new wrinkle. More information on this story from "Al-Qaeda group to terrorise US" in News24.com, with thanks to LB:
Dubai - An al-Qaeda linked-group has launched what it calls a media jihad, or holy war, to "terrorise" United States-led forces in Iraq and their families by bombarding them with e-mails and by posting gruesome photos online. The group, calling itself the "Brigade of Media Jihad", called on its militants to "post terrifying pictures on the internet in order to terrorise the enemy", said a statement on an Islamist website whose authenticity could not be verified.
"Our objective is to undermine the morale of our enemies, dash their hopes and dreams and reveal the truth of what is happening in Iraq. The media war is an integral part of the war on the ground," said the statement.
Breaking soldiers morale
The group said it has launched its media offensive in several languages "on hundreds of internet forums and through horrific e-mails sent to enemy soldiers and their families in order to terrorise them and break their morale".
"We have succeeded in attacking 1 600 forums and electronic addresses through which our messages have reached 60 000 people," it said.
The relatives of US soldiers are being shown "the reality that their sons are living" in Iraq, the group boasted.
The statement accused "Crusaders" of controlling the mainstream media "and so we decided to use an important outlet, the Internet, that they cannot control".
Funny. They don't realize that it is actually the multiculturalist ethos that controls the mainstream media, which is why I too have taken to the Internet.

If we Crusaders control the media, why shouldn't we? After all we invented the media. We invented the internet. What did these neanderthals invent? Sawing off heads of victims whose hands are tied behind their backs?

Lots of fun stuff there. I refrained from posting some of my favorites, which I have a feeling Spencer might object to.

When Islam falls, and the stream of jihadism shuts off, it will be the internet that does it.
The internet allows millions of people to find out things, they would otherwise not know.
The 'truth' of Islam can no longer hide behind flowery or bold talk. As far as bombarding the enemy with 'ugly', is concerned, millions of people know how to use the delete button.

I have two questions:
1 - how exactly does one "attack" an internet forum. If they have flooded 1,600 web based forums with their propaganda, it won't be too long before some indication of that shows up on Google. A google search of http://www.google.com/search?num=20&hl=en&lr=lang_en&safe=off&q=brigade+of+media+jihad&btnG=Search
might yield some results in a few days.
2 - what were the e-mail addresses used to send these demoralizing messages? I have a very difficult time believing that these people stole or discovered even a tiny fraction of the e-mail addresses of the "relatives" of our soldiers. Or maybe they meant people at large. E-mail addresses they leached from Internet forums??
Hmmph, I don't think these guys recognize the sheer SIZE of the Internet. As far as I'm concerned, they'll send out massive amounts of e-mail, reach a very few people who will actually feel demoralized and hurt, but most who won't be fooled and just delete the e-mails in disgust. And then the members of this so-called Brigade will declare it a "glorious victory."
