Another attempt to bring out the Vast Majority of Peaceful Muslims in great numbers and demonstrate their rejection of Islamic terrorism bites the dust. From the Lodi News-Sentinel, with thanks to all who sent this in:
The idea of a "million Muslim march" event in Lodi by Muslims to publicly denounce terrorism has officially died, say those involved.Envisioned in late June as a response to the allegations of terrorists in Lodi's Muslim community, the idea drew the interest of Mayor John Beckman, conservative radio host Mark Williams, the Sacramento chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations and local Muslims.
Although it was never a very popular idea.
Interest waned, however, when it became apparent the deep division in Lodi's Muslim community would make organizing such an event difficult if not impossible. It appears it has become impossible, as Beckman said this week the event will not be happening.

For a muslim to sincerely protest terror he must implicitly protest the source of the terror. The primary source of terror is the koran as practised by the true believers of islam. The muslims in Lodi know this but they are loathe to admit it publicly. Don't expect to see many (if any) muslims protesting against terror now or in the future. the evidence tells us muslims don't object to the use of terror against the so-called unbeliever.

"deep division in Lodi's muslim community..."
probably a typo. should have said "deep division BETWEEN Lodi and it's muslim community"
Maybe they should have said it would be a demonstration to reject ISREALI "terrorism", then they would have been busing them in.
Thank God I wasn't holding my breath.

It was never going to happen anyway. Williams goaded the CAIR guys into it, by banging the idea hard on his radio show. The CAIR guys basically had to agree or lose face and take a step backward in Allahs cause. I think only three muslims signed up, the Sac CIAR president, the vice president, and the secretary. The idea died from lack of interest.

After reading the linked Lodi News-Sentinel article, I checked their ‘Opinion’ section and was delighted to find another well-written, and relevant article by Joe Guzzardi, titled ‘Ethnic schools do not support American ideals’.
http://www.lodinews.com/articles/2005/08/20/opinion/1_guzzardi_050820.txt
This article, in addition to the subject of its title, takes issue with Mr. Taj Khan, one of his fellow News-Sentinel columnists, and one the chief apologists for the two Lodi Imams being deported. It only takes a minute or so to read, and is, IMO, worth the effort.
One of Mr. Guzzardi’s Vdare articles, written just after 9/11, is an eye-opener, and also worth a read.
http://www.vdare.com/guzzardi/americanisation.htm
It begins with a question posed to one of his Lodi Adult School’s Pakistani students.
Toward the end of our dialogue, I asked him what in life is most important to him.
“Islam,” he replied.
The article concludes with the following:
In today’s multicultural America, an immigrant can pick and chose. He can take what he wants and leave alone what he doesn’t. What is taken is economic betterment and what’s left alone is all things American.
The whole process is divisive and sad. So many yearn to come to America. They make their homes here. Many attain their goal of earning a better wage than they would in impoverished Pakistan. Some will live more years in the U.S. than they did in their native land.
But they never truly know anything about the country they so longed to migrate to.

"...deep division in Lodi's Muslim community would make organizing such an event difficult if not impossible." Yep. Can't reject Islamic terrorism without rejecting the verses in the Quran that justify terrorsim, and no Muslim will ever contradict the Quran. Interesting dichotomy. They say they are for peace, that Islam is a "religion of peace", but their "holy" book commands them to terrorize and kill anyone who will not submit.

"I still feel sorry for the poor innocent muslims that will be caught in the middle of this upcoming horror. Although, I am really wondering just how many innocent muslims there are."
We are all wondering. We are still looking for the "modern, moderate Muslims"- just can't find any...
Let's deport the "poor innocent" ones before they become guilty...
