Hurricane Katrina: Al Qaeda leader in Iraq sees ”start of US collapse”

However, not everyone is crowing: Kuwait is sending $500 million in aid. "Hurricane Katrina: Al Qaeda leader in Iraq sees 'start of US collapse'; Kuwait sends US$500m aid," from Al-Bawaba, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:

Al Qaeda group in Iraq, which is led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, on Sunday praised in an Internet statement what it said was the "start of the collapse" of the United States after the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina.

"Congratulations to the Islamic nation, to our sheikh Osama abu Abdullah (Osama bin Laden) and to sheikh Ayman Zawahiri (bin Laden's deputy) for the destruction of America, which is at the forefront of evil. It is the start of its collapse."

The statement was referring to the hurricane which left some 10,000 dead.

In recent days, Islamists website connected between the storm and the "US war against Islam." According to them, Katrina was sent by God to torment the American empire.

I wonder if the Q8tis will have to pay for this "madness".

At ant rate I would like to bring another subject to your attention also of huge importance.

The Saudi government plans to demolish the Prophet Mohammad’s [PBUH] 1,400-years old home in Makkah. The house is being destroyed to make way for “a parking lot, two 50-storey hotel towers and seven 35-storey apartment blocks” as part of the Jabal Omar Scheme, just around the corner from the Grand Mosque.

How can they even THINK of doing this let alone doing this maddness. They unfortunately have a track record of this sort of thing.

In the 1920s, the Saudis levelled the graveyard in Madina that contained the graves of the family and companions of the Prophet.

Then, a few years ago, they demolished an old Ottoman fort in Makkah, in spite of the protests of the Turkish government.

“The sacred places of Islam, regardless of where they are located, belong to the Muslim community worldwide. The countries where they are located are simply trustees and have NO right to destroy them.”

I would like to know the opinion of JWers on
this matter of huge historical importance. Wouldn't you agree with me that the Saudis seem a law onto themselves.

I have written to the Saudi Ambassidor & to papers in Pakistan & Saudi to bring attention to this monumental mistake that will be made. I don't even know if they will reply.

Please can fellow JWers too write to prominent papers/organs of repute to make the Saudi's aware of their mistakes.

"I would like to know the opinion of JWers on
this matter of huge historical importance.[the destruction of the putative "1400-year-old" home of Muhammad]."

Indifference.

Yeah, right. They wish. It is only in the case of a backward Islamist dictatorship that a hurricane of a comparable maginitude will make the entire country collapse. Don't judge others by your own low standards, folks.

Naseem,
You can add the Aqiq Bridge, part of the historic Hejaz Railway, to your list of destroyed sites.

But Hugh is correct. Muslims have destroyed historic sites valuable to other cultures. In fact, they have destroyed a lot of their own pre-Islamic sites. Why SHOULD we care when they destroy more of their own today?

There was no hurricane. Hurricanes are an illusion created by paranod govenrments. The destruction of New Orleans was a controlled demolition.

OK, sarcasm off.

I have an awful feeling that Islam will use the anger of the southern African-Americans against 'the man' to increase da'wah among them.

"start of US collapse" - those fools. They have not seen the wrath of America yet.

Quite on top of the tsunami, guess where the deadliest hurricanes have it?

Answer: Bangladesh.

A Muslim country.

If Allah is so angry with us, imagine how he must feel about Indonesia and Bangladesh.

Notice they are congradulating themselves, as though they caused the hurricane. I think this falls directly into the "schizo" category.

So, what took them so long?

How about taking up some more of those gang-banging hang outs, starting with that Gaudy Eyesore of a Dump at Mecca?

Funny, the USA has had oher disastrous hurricanes--and we didn't collapse. For example, in Brownsville, Texas (in the year 1900), more than 8000 persons were killed by a hurricane nearly as monstrous as Katrina.

So I would be interested in finding out how these guys know what hurricane Katrina was up to. Did she tell them she was planning to destroy the United States? Or, maybe it was al-lah who clued them in...

Or,(more likely) is this what happens to people who smoke camel poop (...they come up with nonsensical notions like this one)?

I am a little surprised at the near unanimous acceptance of the American Red Cross as the preferred hurricane charity.

They are part of the International Red Cross, an outspoken human rights group that is constantly criticizing our treatment of terrorist prisoners.

Personally, I favor the Salvation Army which does great work and is not a political action group.

The big 1900 hurricane hit Galveston, Texas, not Brownsville. My great-grandfather and his family immigrated through Galveston (legally) several years before, and he visited the island shortly after the storm. He said that the storm waters and winds had been so bad that there were bodies snagged in the telephone and telegraph wires.

But, yes, I have no doubt that muslims are going to do da'wa amongst the evacuees from New Orleans. I volunteered to help and went to the two-hour mandatory training session (i.e., food service sanitation) conducted by the huge protestant church in my area. It was an interfaith effort, and attracted over four thousand volunteers in the FIRST OF FOUR training sessions planned over several days. Approximately 5 percent of the attendees were muslim!! This may be a slight underestimate, as I made it based only on gross observation of dress, etc. Very few were black. (In fact, very few in the entire 4,000 were black, as blacks in America--at least in the South--hardly ever volunteer for anything.) The vast majority of the muslims that I identified appeared to be asian. It will be very interesting to watch them, as I certainly intend to do.

I think it would be rediculous to say that the U.S hasn't been damaged by Katrina. I don't know bout total collapse but definately a blow. I am embarassed and disgusted by what happened, I am ashamed on how the government handled every aspect of this. I don't think I am alone.....

We all need to show a little grace and humility in this country, the arrogance of some people is rediculous. I really am sad that the world(not just al qeada has such a bad view of the USA. I think that the gut reaction is to just cast off anything negetive that the opposition says. But being overly confident is what has caused most of our problems. In the past, yes America has done a lot of good..... but those generation are gone. I am 25 and I am really scared of what the world will be when I am 40 or 50.

I think that things will definately change, it is insane to think we won't go into recession, if not a major depression. just look at history, we don't have ww2 or bill gates to pull us out this time. money is what guides this country and when that is gone we will be in big trouble. Dont worry I'm sure whatever happens though bush and cheney will get through, I know that makes everyone feel better.
