Refugee camp jihad. And make no mistake: a jihad is exactly what it is — waged by Arab Muslims against non-Arabs Muslims whom they do not consider sufficiently Islamic. Sudanese General Mohamed Beshir Suleiman put it this way: "The door of the jihad is still open and if it has been closed in the south it will be opened in Darfur." "U.N.: Attack in Darfur kills 29 refugees," from Reuters, with thanks to Special Guest:
GENEVA, Switzerland (Reuters) -- Twenty-nine people were reported killed in an unprecedented attack on a refugee camp in the northwest of the Sudan region of Darfur, the United Nations said on Thursday.According to initial reports, the Aro Sharow camp was attacked by 250 to 300 "armed Arab men on horses and camels" late on Wednesday, the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said in a statement.
Another 10 people were reported to have been seriously wounded and the nearby village of Gosmeina was also believed to have been attacked and burned, the agency said. The death toll referred only to camp dwellers....
And in response, the UN threatens to...cut and run:
The U.N. has warned that it may have to suspend aid operations in Darfur because of a resurgence in violence.Following the attack, High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres said it was the responsibility of the Sudanese government to restore order.
I see: the fox must guard the henhouse, eh?
"As long as this insecurity continues, the international community cannot provide the assistance that is so desperately needed by hundreds of thousands of people," Guterres said."The government of Sudan has a responsibility to ensure security for all its citizens," he added.
The UNHCR said that most of the camp dwellers had fled into the surrounding countryside, which the U.N. considers unsafe.
The attackers had apparently burned about 80 crude shelters, around a quarter of the camp's households.

The UN strikes again I see. Do these people realize what a sick joke the UN has become? Are they cynical or self-delusional (or likely both)?
Of course they would never consider providing the means of allowing the residents of the camps the ability to protect themselves, i.e. small automatic weapons.

...or demand that they (UN aid workers) be supported by an adequate number of peace keeping troups...
I guess Kofi is content to see another Rwanda on his watch.

Or Cambodia. Or Bosnia-Herzogovina. Or Angola, North Korea, East Timor, Chinese Cultural Revolution, etc. etc. etc. If Germany were gassing Jews today, can there be any doubt what the UN response (or lack thereof) would be?
If there is no oil money in it for Kofi or his son, it's really not worth talking about.
The UN is an old guard dog with no teeth, off sleeping in the corner.

Of course. A return to the pure jihad of the 7th century false prophet Mohammed, complete with cavalry attack and scimtar wielding soldiers.

The idiots are in charge of the asylum. What is the UN there for? Guterres does not blame the UN for this ineptitude, it's the 'international community' thats at fault. The UN can hardly get out of its own way and at the first sign of real danger it packs up and runs away. I guess a couple of hundred muslim jihadists on camels, waving swords, is just something the UN cant deal with...There are too many idiots in too many high places...replace idiots with real people, before it's to late.

A dirty job but somebody has to do it. Camel jockeys need work and killin' and prayin' don't take much education. And besides the fringe benefits of rape and plunder keep the guys content. Perhaps the UN can get these guys jobs with the Sudan Security forces to get them off the streets, just like the PA gets to hire all those murderous homeboys from their terror cells and make fine upstanding Security personnel.

I have tried to stay away from "kill em all" type statements, but now i just can't help it. The Janaweed are nothing but vermin, and vermin needs to be exterminated.

I know I should feel a great deal of sympathy for these non-arab muslims. Perhaps if I was a better man I would.
The thing is, I just don't. They wanted Islam, they got it!

Anthony:
I think you are being a little uncharitable. It's more than likely Islam was forced on their ancestors.

It is time to declare the UN irrelevant and start
a new one...can it be done? Only if the will is there to make a change!
