With memories of the Beslan massacre still fresh in the minds of Russians, this latest attack in the Caucasus can’t help but evoke disturbing parallels. Although it appears the attackers did not target the school itself, the building's involvement is disturbing nonetheless. While the identity and motivation of the terrorists is currently unclear, given the region, the coordination, and the armament fielded, it seems apparent that they are Islamic rebels from Chechnya. From the AP:
NALCHIK, Russia -- Police and security forces on Thursday battled gunmen in the capital of the southern Russian region of Kabardino-Balkariya, including in a school near a police station. A teacher from the school, who gave only his first name, Spartak, said the students had been evacuated. Black smoke billowed from the school as panic-stricken parents searched for their children in the schoolyard.At least three alleged militants were killed, a duty officer at the southern Russian district office of the Interior Ministry said. He said that the fighting began after police in Nalchik received an anonymous telephoned tip that a group of about 10 armed militants had entered the city, and police and security forces launched a special operation to capture them.
A policeman was wounded in the fighting, said Marina Kyasova, a spokesman for the Kabardino-Balkariya regional office of the ministry.
Intense shooting from automatic rifles and grenade-launchers could be heard in the center of the city. The North Caucasus department on fighting terrorism and city police unit No. 2 are located behind School No. 5.The Interfax news agency reported that gunmen had launched simultaneous attacks on the regional headquarters of the Interior Ministry and the Federal Security Service, as well as a number of other buildings.
Citing an unidentified source in law enforcement, Interfax said that the battle was sparked by the detention of a group of adherents to the radical Wahhabi strain of Islam, and that their fellow believers were trying to free them.

We may have to face this choice.
I wonder if the ACLU laywers would be defending these islamic terrorists if they found out that THEIR children had been raped and murded by these Islamic Terrorists???
I have already told my children if it comes to it in our country WE FIGHT to the DEATH...

I believe the Governor of Texas, Perry(?), stated that in the last year, approximately 118,000 non-Mexican illegals were captured and released in Texas, alone. They were released promising to appear, voluntarily, for that immigration hearing so famously ignored by illegals.
118,000 people is equivalent, numerically, to approximately 12 American divisions of combat troops. If a substantial percentage of those non-Mexican illegals are jihadi's - we could see coordinated attacks on our own cities, much like the one reported in Russia, today.
If such an event occurs in the US, W should be impeached for his failure to faithfully execute our immigration statutes.

Havoc your concern is valid. The Da'wa mission is making serious inroads in Latin America, from Mexico to Brazil (I suspect that the Brazilian shot dead by the London Police, was in fact a Muslim, the evidence (his associations and residence sure indicate that). I was surprised to find, clicking on the link to Islam on Line, that the largest percentage of Muslims is in Brazil.

While talking about Nalchik A Fox News correspondent yesterday stated that the deaths in Beslan were caused by a botched Russian rescue attempt. I know they may have botched the rescue in Beslan but why mention the Beslan rescue attempt in relation to Nalchik. Why emphasize the Russian problems and not the fact that a school and the children was used to blackmail the Russian government.

Indeed. I have noticed the same sleight of hand by AlBBCeera.
They never mention that according to the poor little tykes accounts of the Gym it was one of the IED's they hung from the roof that detonated - causing the Russians to react.
What else were they to do in the circumstances?
The Russian Forces had no choice but to go in fast.
AlBBCeera also refer to the Chechens as "rebels" / "militants, instead of their true identity - Holy Warriors carrying out Allah's will as laid down in the Quran & Hadith.

On September 11'th 19 Muslims killed 3000 Americans in one and a half hours. The "religion" of Islam should be banned as a seditious cult hell bent on overthrowing the United States of America.What is happening in Russia will happen here. I can not comprehend what our leaders are waiting too happen before they realize that the disease of Islam , can not be reasoned with. It can't be coddled, it can't be negotiated with. It simply must be stopped. And if the Government fails to protect the people, then it will be the people ourselves that will take this Country back.Islam is running on borrowed time.

Yes, Jingoist, because the ACLU defends murderering terrorists. At least, in Bizarro GOPer World, they do. I'm sure that you can provide us with dozens of examples of the ACLU defends murdering terrorists.
That is, if they have time to spare from defending drug addicts/justice obstructors/conspirators/drug dealers/felony doctor shoppers/serial truth molestors like that big-time Palm Beach drug addict they are defending. So far, so good: Limbaugh still doesn't have a court date. Maybe the Supreme Court passed a secret law that says republicans CAN'T BE TRIED FOR CRIMES.
