It's a low-key day here in the Jihad Watch Towers in Secure Undisclosed Locationville: Hugh and I played a little shuffleboard and then we all retired to the sitting room for some cognac, to mark the second anniversary of the beginning of the Jihad Watch website.
People continue to wake up to the magnitude of the menace, and to just how seriously threatened are the principles of universal human rights upon which Western societies are based. We are now averaging over 400,000 hits per day -- over twenty thousand daily visits -- and that is considerably more than what we were getting when we started. In the past year I have given information on Islam and jihad to a Senate committee, a Congressman, and even to some mainstream media outlets that won't have me onscreen, but don't mind getting the facts from me behind the scenes -- which means that the truth is, little by little, here and there, getting out.
Still, two years on, and ignorance still blankets the nation. This year I have been speaking all over the country, two or three a month, and while some audiences are quite well-informed, most are dumbfounded and some even hostile when I tell them about the root causes of jihad activity, the goals of the jihad movement, the extent of jihad activity in the United States and Europe, and what non-Muslims and Muslims of good will need to do in order to combat this scourge.
So there is a great deal more work to be done. On to Year Three.

Islam is the world's single biggest problem.
Therefore, JihadWatch.org is the world's single most important website.
I donated to its 501 (c) 3 organization, and it was a bargain.
However, I may choose to not claim the donation as a deduction on my IRS return, though. What if there is a Moslem within the IRS doing computer searches for infidels acting out on their anti-Dhimmi dreams? The Good Semi-Active Moslem need only type in the string "J-i-h-a-d-W-a-t-c-h" and bingo!
I could be stabbed in the back.

Cognac? I knew Hugh was a sophisticate.
The main thing going for Islam is that people simply assume that it is just another monotheistic religion. Plus, due to Europe's bloody history of religious rivalry, we've been conditioned to respect all religions without examining the details.
Still, we critics fail to appreciate how many good Muslims don't fully comprehend their religion and are offended by criticism. It's a very delicate situation. I spoke with a very decent Muslim waiter from Morocco who was convinced that the Koran was all about peace.

Brain occlusion. He has a total, permanent blind spot to any negative perception of Islam.
It's a cult thing.
What's amazing is that infidels also seem to be occluded. Spencer et al will show us whether there is a sliver of light in those befuddled infidel brains through which corrective data can pass...
But the Moslem Mind is fully occluded. Benighted, with not even a single sliver of light.

I am thankful for the hard work and dedication of Robert Spencer. I have sent his website over to many friends and family. Some of my family (a few liberals) who denounced it as racist without fully reading the information. l think knowledge with facts can be scary for some people. The Islam religion to my estimiation is more of a cult than a religion. As it relies totally on one person, who totally controls the everyday life of the people who follow him by choice, by the sword or threat of the sword. He also has installed in his cult, calls for death for anyone wanting to change his teachings.
for devout Muslims and those who want to live in peace, and or reform, there are many condradictions.
l dont know how we can live in peace with the Muslim
society/ mullahs, without them changing their doctrine. l know over the centuries, Rome put to death anyhow who spoke against them or disagreed it. There was reforms, and we have a more stable society with separation of State and Church. To my knowledge the Christian Bible has no comparison of jihad, "killings of non Christians". I think we have to with information inform our politicians of the Koran, and either the Muslilms need to reform, or we will need to block their cult, many ways of doing this. but l unfortunatley think that
mullahs and extremist Muslims want to drag us into a war. They being the cowards they have shown us will not fight with a country, but terror networks, and therefore regimes such as Iran, Syria, can come off as scot free. So Jihad Watch has become instrumental in informing the West, so we can better destroy these cowards!

Congratulations!
I stumbled upon this site about a year and a half ago, and continue to be a daily reader.
I own your "Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam" and "Onward Muslim Soldiers"; "Why I am not a Muslim" and "Leaving Islam, Apostates Speak out," by Ign Warraq; even "The Trouble with Islam," by Irshad Manji.
I once attempted to share a couple of these books with relatives and friends, but they were returned rather quickly. It seems that some people do not want to hear the truth about Islam. Often I get arguments about how Christianity is exactly the same as Islam. Debating with some of these people is a lost cause. Why they are so quick to come to the defense of something they know nothing about--but think they do--is a puzzle to me.
Nonetheless, it's encouraging to see that even the mainstream media are now starting to take notice (basically, they have to, in lieu of the constant occurrences involving Jihadist activities).
So, when I read my daily newspaper and see those Jihad and Islam-related articles, I feel somewhat vindicated, knowing that my naysayer friends and family are also reading those same articles. Part of me hopes that they are saying to themselves, "Geez, maybe Farah is right!"
Keep up the good work, gentlemen.

Robert -- I am put in mind of Maurice Chevalier singing a duet of "I Remember It Well." It was not cognac, but Chateau d'Yquem. It was not a sitting room. It was a drawing room. It was not in Secure Undisclosed Locationville, but in Secure Undisclosed Locationburg, the much larger metropolis nearby. Otherwise your memory is infallible.

You do great work Robert, and Hugh is a national treasure, his writings are cerebral and humble me, because I lack the literary background and linquistic capabilities that he obviously possesses, but at least they prod my curiousity and motivate me to make inquiries and broaden my scope of knowledge, for instance I'm reading V.S.Naipaul's "Among the Believers", totally riveting, but would never have heard of him were it not for Hugh.
And for Chaz Martel who said
Brain occlusion. He has a total, permanent blind spot to any negative perception of Islam. It's a cult thing.
While I totally and wholeheartedly agree, and more (that Islam is a voracious, mind devouring, mind numbing cult, that attacks humanity at it's core, the individual identity, replacing it with a tribal identity - which one would expect from a religion/ideology that is born of the tribal mentality and ethos of the hijaz and nejd)
Brain occlusion and the cult thing is not limited to Islam, occlusion and cult is in the eye of the beholder, and people when they look in the mirror tend to filter out their own warts, moles and wrinkles.
We so readily see the defects of others, but are blind to our own, and even get outraged and venomous when they are pointed out, just as Muslims get outraged and venomous when their defects are pointed out.
In the words of one of the worlds great moral philosopher "take the beam out of thine own eye, before telling your brother about the mote in his".
And therein lies a dilemna for Muslims, there is not an ayat in the Koran, that can be pointed to as an example of moral phillosphy.
Nothing even approaching the Golden Rule, or love thy brother, nothing remotely touching the Sermon on the Mount, while Christians do not necessarily live up to the words and examples of Jesus, Muslims have no words or examples of Muhammad to live up to, except kill, vengance, plunder, stone, threats of death and damnation, and the submission of slavery.
If I am wrong, then maybe one of the forums muslims can correct me, and prove me wrong.

"We are now averaging over 400,000 hits per day -- over twenty thousand daily visits...."
I'd better cut back a bit.
Thanks for having me here. And thanks, too, for allowing us to share opinions and information and details we wouldn't otherwise have access to. Yes, also for giving us the chance to make friends here among fellows united against jihad and for the good of all mankind regardless. And for me in particular and the world in general for showing by example what an honest intellectual is, thank you again.

Happy Anniversary!
I'm afraid I don't visit as much as I'd like to, but I'd like to send congratulations from Britain to the staff of Jihad Watch! I've got one of Robert Spencer's books - it's a great read.
Ultimately, we're all in this together, as I fear the current Islamic attack on the West has only just started, and there'll be many tough times in the future for us with the myriad of Islamic atrocities yet to come.
Preaching to the converted is not enough - how many deaths will it take for the masses to be provided with accurate, balanced information?

Thank you for your eloquence and determination.
We are still missing something: how can we reach those among us who do not want to believe the truth about Islam? I am not talking about the Moroccan waiter, but the millions, billions even, who bought the "religion of peace" line, because it was so seductive and reassuring.
How to we introduce the truth in such a way that it is not a total shock to the system of those who were raised to believe in cultural relativism and the equality of all religions? I am not yet sure. Perhaps we have to wait for another terrorist bloodletting and then introduce logic and reason to the situation? This is really critical; I feel we need to develop a cookbook for approaching reasonable westerners in a way that minimizes the likelihood that they will flee from the truth.

Robert:
I became enlightened by your knowledge of Islam during a radio interview you gave with "The Sage" ==Larry Elder on KABC radio 790, out of Los Angeles one afternoon while I was driving to a meeting. Elder was so fascinated with your knowledge of Islam, that I think he stayed with the interview for over an hour and it was at that point that you brought up your website (jihadwatch.org.)
I've pretty much been with you for all of those 2 years and have learned so much about the aspirations of Islam that simply cannot, and should not be ignored.
Amazingly I have been called a hate monger by some, simply by discussing what Islam is all about without even projecting the slightest hostility to its adherents, as if to say any criticism of a religion is simply out of bounds, or exempt from criticism by the simple virtue that it is defined as a religion.
The contemporary Issue, although far from temporary has become the most important issue of our time --bar none.
Always the Best

I do my best to post links to this site when there are yahoo.co.uk discussion groups advertised by Yahoo in the news section of the main page. Many hundreds of people post opinions and I'm sure many more just look, so I hope I might reach a reasonable audience. Unfortunately, there have only been several official Yahoo discussion groups in the highly visible news section and they tend to dwindle drastically in numbers over time e.g http://uk.messages.news.yahoo.com/yahoo/London_Bombings/index.html!

Jihad Watch, is a light house warning and telling about the dangers of appeasement to Islam on a theological level mixed with humour but DEAD serious bout them pesky arrogant terrorists with their silent, proud, secret admirers, and of course all those crazy ass fans in the pillaged Islamic territories cheering them on. To the leftists: don't try your civil rights and peace stuff here, "in the long run" its about your rights and peaceful well being too.

Fear not. Like most here, I've been watching the advance of the global jihad since 9/11 and monitoring the various news agencies as they report on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Iran, Chechnya, Kashmir, Thailand, the Philippines, etc, etc. as if they were entirely distinct affairs all the while trying to blame Israel, GWB, neo-cons, American imperialism, Russian intransigence, Tony Blair, capitalism, The Crusades, and Porky Pig for the violence that is endemic to Islam.
Despite these efforts, those observers who have at least a vague notion of the value of liberty and aren't beholden to Arab paymasters are connecting the dots and waking up to the mortal danger that Islam poses. It was the same slow, grinding process of perception and recognition in the 1930s and the Nazis were far more overtly threatening to the free world.
Keep it up Robert and Hugh; with the help of genocidal maniacs like Ahmadinejad, we are beginning to win the propaganda war.

Bravo Hombre! or should I say hombres, the cognac is well deserved.
You should be proud of the work you are doing, it has opened my eyes and I have in tern, tried to reach out to as many people as possible by referring them to PIG and this site.
What makes your work stand out is the high level of scholastic insite and timeliness and relevance of the information, the balanced and objective opinions and the witty excellent writing of both Robert and Hugh.
This has inspired me to contribute in what ever way I can.
Good luck in the next year... and God's speed to the effort to stop Jihadist Islam.
On a less serious note, I had Muslim visitors to my house (a friend of a friend )
nice people, upon seeing my little Boston Terrier, a very clean little dog, they commented that the Koran says dogs are unclean and that if you keep them in your house they will keep away the angles! and attract Jinn's.
I let my dog jump on his lap, to his great consternation.

Congratulations on another great year of educating and enlightening the ignorant among us. I have enthusiastically encouraged everyone I know and thousands I don't know to visit this website, buy your books, read Hugh's and Rebecca's essays, and learn the truth! I know that many have taken my advice because they call me to discuss the latest articles, or just to commiserate about the dismal situation in Europe.
Some have been tough nuts to crack but after they visit the site a few times, read the comments, and visit the archives, I don't know of one doubting Thomas who remains unconvinced that we are under seige. I become entirely too emotional and frustrated when I attempt to convey my knowledge to others, especially if they aren't willing and eager subjects! So JihadWatch is like a living reference book, a source to verify my own statements in a much calmer, more concise and coherent manner.
JihadWatch is a national treasure and I hope millions more will discover it soon. Thank you for your tireless work and your invaluable knowledge about the enemy of the civilized world. You are our heroes!

Thanks to this site and your books I am well equipped to make my contribution to waking up people about the Islamic threat and I do so with familly, friends and contacts. I was pretty knowledgable about Islam before in historical terms, especially in regards to Byzantium and the Crusades, but recent history was something I had not spent much time on.
I see hope that the West is begining to understand what it faces. Keep up the good work and I am also grateful that you kept the comments section open, I like reading some of the contributors, because I see people like me, frustarted and angry and incredulous that we have been so stupid...

Happy Anniversary Jihad Watch.
I came here about a year and a half ago. Started like this. A coworker returned to headquarters after four years in Saudi Arabia. When I inquired about the obvious loss of premium pay by coming back to Houston, he cleared the air quickly. He had requested to come home at the first opportunity. Then he told me why.
Wow! Is this true?
So, I sought out a trusted Sikh friend, another coworker, an older man raised in India and well traveled, and a kind man. His story was even worse. He was twelve when his Grandfather, his primary caretaker, was lost to “jihad.” He told several horrible stories about Muslims and I listened in awe, my jaw on the floor.
Jihad. Let’s see what jihad means.
So, I ended up, or began as it turned out to be, at Jihad Watch and became awake, my cozy chrysalis slumber broken. The truth is sobering, and jihad, like ice water in the face. We can all take comfort knowing others are awake and watching. “We are now averaging over 400,000 hits per day -- over twenty thousand daily visits.” I’ve sent hundreds of JW/DW articles and related links to friends, family, and coworkers, written letter after letter to media, government representatives and agencies, and school officials. Many others here have done the same. Think about any policy you would like to change and send the person in charge of that policy twenty thousand letters a day, or perhaps, twenty thousand letters a day asking why newspaper X or news program Y doesn’t bother reporting the daily atrocities we read here. People can move mountains when there are enough of them and they have the will. This mountain, Islam, a belief system toxic to life and freedom, cannot be reformed, for by its very nature locked, unchangeable for all time. It must be dismantled, torn asunder, wholly ruined. With others here, I bring my pick and shovel everyday. There’s a mountain in my way.
There’s a scourge walking the Earth. In resistance, Jihad Watch walks point.
On a side note, a while back, I made a 501 (c) 3 donation to JW. Expecting only a simple receipt from Secure Undisclosed Locationville, I received a nice signed letter thanking me for my “support in this struggle for the defense of human rights.” Imagine that, lil ‘ol me, helping defend human rights! I felt so proud tears welled. I framed it and hung it over my desk. Thank you Mr. Spencer.
On a last side note, I miss you BigSleep.
