A friendly reminder

A series of emails I have received lately suggests to me that many of you don't know that Jihad Watch is not one, but two weblogs.

The other is called Dhimmi Watch. It covers the oppression of non-Muslims in Islamic societies, as mandated by Sharia law, as well as the oppression of women, since Sharia also mandates that, and the supine willingness of American academics and media types to parrot jihadist propaganda and whitewash Islamic teachings that inspire violence.

It too is updated daily. Find it here.

I wonder if it might be a good idea to ditch DhimmiWatch.org and just post everything here at JihadWatch.org

Its really annoying having to go to two places when everything could have been placed all in once place.

I can understand if people don't realize that DhimmiWatch.org is there. Its really hard to notice the DhimmiWatch link at the top. The webmaster shold make that link stand out so that it will be easier for people to notice.

The news editor at JW should read a bit more. There are a lot of really good news stories and articles that are not posted here. Is it because there are too many links being sent in? Are the news editors overwhelmed?

"Informed Christian":

Why not just one weblog? Because there is a distinction, and a difference. One page shows the war advancing at gunpoint. The other page shows that the war is not advancing only at gunpoint.

Having two pages may inconvenience some, but actually I doubt it. If you can visit two different websites of a morning, you can visit two sides of one website.

Also -- and most importantly -- having two pages, both updated daily, keeps me on the lookout for news of both kinds, daily. It prevents me from neglecting one or the other, which unfortunately could happen were there only one site.

Finally: there is not one "News Editor." There are currently four: Crockett, Schwappach, Bynum, Devenny. There are two others who have asked me to review their writing but I haven't had time yet. I travel a great deal, and these people are immense help when I do: they keep the site going. But I am still the primary individual responsible for it. The Generalissimo. The President-for-Life. The Dear Leader. And am I, are we, overwhelmed? Certainly. I get many hundreds of emails daily. I do what I can. But there is always more. There are, unfortunately, more jihadists than there are of us. I still think that what we post here is generally representative and valuable, particularly (if I do say so myself) for the commentary, even when brief. And then there is Hugh.

If, however, you don't think I am doing a good job, fair enough. Please compete with us. Start your own, and you could have a healthy daily weblog going without duplicating a single article posted here. Lord knows there is room for more jihad news and anti-jihad resistance. Come on in. The water's fine. If a bit hot.

Cordially
Robert Spencer

IC -
Believe me it is a lot tougher and a lot more thankless than it appears to do such an anti-terrorism news blog.

I have been doing just that every day for over 3 years, and I also contribute to another counter-terrorism blog. Keeping up with anti-terrorism news is a full time job by itself.

No one can catch everything, and most of us visit multiple blogs to have a well-rounded view. Moreover, what you would see in viewing multiple blogs is how much of an effort it is to capture such news in one place, and how such multiple blogs actually help each other, by providing a more holistic view of the larger threat.

Jeffrey, I'd like to thank you for the work you do here. There's such a constant flow of detail and excitement here that one can easily forget the time, and now that I have the chance I want to take it to acknowledge that I like your effort and the results of your work here. Yes, and Nicolai and others mostly behind the headlines.

I find that roughly seven of ten letters I post here go to dhimmiwatch, not by conscious design but organically. Some of us have slightly different focuses, and mine brings me here more often.

The comments from posters here also brings a variety of news and views we would miss if not for the chance Robert gives us. Yes, some comments are weird and stupid, but I try to restrain myself. On the bright side, others write too. It's a trade-off, and most comments are interesting and helpful. As a group effort it seems (or SEAMS) to work very well indeed.

Thanks all.

I first stumbled on this site after googling "FGM" and read an article on the DW side. I have been visiting daily (and occasionally posting) ever since. This 2 sided site works very well. Congrats to Robert, and thanx to all involved.

Robert has stated that The Dhimmi Watch site is for the Voice of the 'oppressed Non- Muslims' in the Islamic countries and societies. Though using this site for qite a long time to post my views,it is for the first time I realsied that this site is for the worthy purpose noted above. I am sure, like me there will be numerous viewers, who are ignorant of this fact, when they post their views here. May I suggest to Robert, to paste this label "Voice of oppressed Non-Muslims in Islamic societies", right underneath the "DHIMMI WATCH" will serve the cause better. Thanks
