Yet people the world over still think their cause is the cause of justice and freedom from oppression. "Islamic Jihad claims Thursday's West Bank suicide bombing," from Haaretz, with thanks to Olivia:
The Islamic Jihad militant group claimed responsibility Friday for a suicide bombing in the West Bank that killed one soldier and two other Palestinians.Islamic Jihad activists in the West Bank village of Atil, near Tul Karm, announced on loudspeakers that their bomber, Sohieb Ibrahim Yassin, 19, carried out Thursday's attack.
Army sources said the suicide bomber who killed an Israel Defense Forces officer and two Palestinians at an army checkpoint near Tul Karm Thursday was apparently planning to blow himself up at one of the many children's events taking place in Tel Aviv during this week's Hanukkah holiday.
Had the bomber not been stopped at the checkpoint, the attack would have been far more deadly, said the sources.

Nothing says Happy Hannukah more than bloodied kid parts all over the place, blown to smithereens.
It is indeed a comfort that Islam is such a religion of peace.

Just for the moral equivalence folks, I think Israel
should use cluster bombs on the next outdoor
mohammadan ululation fest.

This is the kind of thing that we should permeate the media with --
Write to your MSM outlets -- ask about this story -- Ask why they aren't covering it... The sickness of the Muslim mind must be revealed for all to see -- the Jihadist's activities are our best friend in exposing the disease of Islam, and ripping off the veil of lies which surrounds their hatred filled "religion"...

Although this would have been quite horrifying if he had of passed the checkpoint I can't seem to get the image of an exploding clown out of my head.... flashing red nose... colourful presents (that happen to tick)... I can imagine the exchange already:
"Did you kids have fun today?"
"Oh yeah! Itwas a blast... you should have seen the dissappearing clown..."
Anyways, at least it was contained to the checkpoint.
Happy new year to all!

American: "Just for the moral equivalence folks, I think Israel should use cluster bombs on the next outdoor mohammadan ululation fest."
American - I've noted several of your posts along these (retaliation/moral equivalence) lines and so in case you missed it, I thought you might be interested in this article by Theodore Dalrymple:
"Of course, hatred is the underlying emotion. A man in prison who told me that he wanted to be a suicide bomber was more hate-filled than any man I have ever met. The offspring of a broken marriage between a Muslim man and a female convert, he had followed the trajectory of many young men in his area: sex and drugs and rock and roll, untainted by anything resembling higher culture. Violent and aggressive by nature, intolerant of the slightest frustration to his will and frequently suicidal, he had experienced taunting during his childhood because of his mixed parentage. After a vicious rape for which he went to prison, he converted to a Salafist form of Islam and became convinced that any system of justice that could take the word of a mere woman over his own was irredeemably corrupt.
I noticed one day that his mood had greatly improved; he was communicative and almost jovial, which he had never been before. I asked him what had changed in his life for the better. He had made his decision, he said. Everything was resolved. He was not going to kill himself in an isolated way, as he had previously intended. Suicide was a mortal sin, according to the tenets of the Islamic faith. No, when he got out of prison he would not kill himself; he would make himself a martyr, and be rewarded eternally, by making himself into a bomb and taking as many enemies with him as he could.
Enemies, I asked; what enemies? How could he know that the people he killed at random would be enemies? They were enemies, he said, because they lived happily in our rotten and unjust society. Therefore, by definition, they were enemies—enemies in the objective sense, as Stalin might have put it—and hence were legitimate targets.
I asked him whether he thought that, in order to deter him from his course of action, it would be right for the state to threaten to kill his mother and his brothers and sisters—and to carry out this threat if he carried out his, in order to deter others like him.
The idea appalled him, not because it was yet another example of the wickedness of a Western democratic state, but because he could not conceive of such a state acting in this unprincipled way. In other words, he assumed a high degree of moral restraint on the part of the very organism that he wanted to attack and destroy."
BTW - how do you bold on this site? Because if I knew how, I would bold those last 2 paragraphs...

Use simple html formatting tags...
For example, <b>Text</b>
Will make "text" show in bold.

Hoooaahhh! (To paraphrase Al Pacino in The Scent of a Woman). But I see that one has to put your lesson to effect before and after each paragraph separately. Much obliged Sir!)

I am convinced that Muslim terrorists who desire to murder innocent children in the name of their religion are possessed by the devil.
I hope that God sends these kind of terrorists STRAIGHT TO HELL, where they belong.
The Muslims who murdered numerous Russian children in Beslan were clearly committing grave evil sins against humanity.
Did you know that many Muslims in this region of Beslan converted to Russiann Orthodox Christianity after this atrocious evil act was committed.
They were appalled by the wickedness of their Muslim brothers who committed the heinous act of targeting a school in the name of jihad.
Where do these crazy Muslims find their inspiration to kill innocent children?
Answer: The Koran...... a diabolical book that justifies the killing of non--Muslims in the name of Allah.

The moral of the story is that border checkpoints save lives. Thats why it won't get reported.

Man, those "Palestinians" are really the life of any party. Maybe the moral equivalency folks can invite them to their New Year's Eve parties, and start the year off with a bang.

I’m basically an agnostic who grew up a Roman Catholic in the fifties and sixties.
I believe that the good in any religion is in teaching people to getting along with others and that there is a greater good than one’s self interest.
Why do we consider Islam a religion?
It is a political philosophy or ideology like Nazism or Communism.
This county (USA, among others ) needs more politically incorrect discussion of this so called religion of peace in the MSM so that the populace is aware of the menace this movement poses to our way of life.
I’m not apposed to being shown a better belief system, but I’m really not willing to have one imposed upon me, be it Muslim or Christian.

Too bad that the Israeli solder at the checkpoint had to die. Would rather that the bomb had gone off before the arrival (like many other such incidents).
On the text font, I know how to bold and italicize, but why does underline not work? Also, whenever I enclose a web link within tags, the web link disappears. Any reason why? (Reason I do it is to keep the link intact, and not get broken if the line wraps.) Is there a particular subset of html that is in operation w/ this editor?

Reminds me of that LEPINE" shooting in Montreal a few years back, where he went into a womans school and shoot a bunch of women.
It was never mentioned in the media that this nut was a "devote muslim" who was brought up under the strict hand of his "devote muslim" father.
What do women do in Montreal each year? they light candles and call for gun control. They don't even know what made that guy tick.
What's worse, these dumb leftists give support to the so called "Palestinians", and the biggest lie of the century- their "oppression".

Just paste your link in as it is on the site you are wanting to link. It should work.

why does underline not work? I can bold and italicise, so it's not just me doing it wrong when I try to underline?
Back to the story, the family of Lieutenant Ori Binamo will be mourning their son, but how much finer his death which saved the lives of little children. My thoughts are with his mother

Granny,

But I think that the comments function can only take very few HTML tags in case people do things such as having huge letters or putting images in there.

RW Frog,
In PIG, Robert discusses what CS Lewis calls
the "Law of General Beneficience" or the Golden
Rule, which is NOT part of Islam.
Forget faith, and be an empiricist for a
minute. Look at the history of Islam, and at
Islamic countries today. Is that the result of
a "better" faith? To my eyes, Islam looks awful.

Somewhat off topic but very pertinent to those who follow Jihad Watch and Dhimmi Watch, is the following I received in an email (dated Dec. 28); there was no link, just the excerpt quoted; I hope this is an indication of the beginning of a change of heart in Europe -- who knows (my apologies for the length; I would have preferred a link):
In the face of what has been happening in France for two weeks and the three suicide bombings yesterday in Jordan this editorial, written before either event, is even more interesting and timely.
It's fascinating that this should come out of Europe. Matthias Dapfner, Chief Executive of the huge German publisher Axel Springer AG, has written a blistering attack in DIE WELT, Germany's largest daily paper, against the timid reaction of Europe in the face of the Islamic threat. This is a must read by all Americans. History will certify its correctness.
EUROPE - THY NAME IS COWARDICE (Commentary by Mathias Dapfner CEO, Axel Springer, AG)
A few days ago Henry Broder wrote in Welt am Sonntag, "Europe - your family name is appeasement." It's a phrase you can't get out of your head because it's so terribly true.
Appeasement cost millions of Jews and non-Jews their lives as England and France, allies at the time, negotiated and hesitated too long before they noticed that Hitler had to be fought, not bound to toothless agreements.
Appeasement legitimized and stabilized Communism in the Soviet Union, then East Germany, then all the rest of Eastern Europe where for decades, inhuman suppressive, murderous governments were glorified as the ideologically correct alternative to all other possibilities.
Appeasement crippled Europe when genocide ran rampant in Kosovo, and even though we had absolute proof of ongoing mass-murder, we Europeans debated and debated and debated, and were still debating when finally the Americans had to come from halfway around the world,
into Europe yet again, and do our work for us.
Rather than protecting democracy in the Middle East, European appeasement, camouflaged behind the fuzzy word "equidistance,"now countenances suicide bombings in Israel by fundamentalist Palestinians. Appeasement generates a mentality that allows Europe to ignore nearly 500,000 victims of Saddam's torture and murder machinery and, motivated by the self-righteousness of the peace-movement, has the gall to issue bad grades to George Bush... Even as it is uncovered that the loudest critics of the American action in Iraq made illicit billions, no, TENS of billions, in the corrupt U.N. Oil-for-Food program.
And now we are faced with a particularly grotesque form of appeasement. How is Germany reacting to the escalating violence by Islamic fundamentalists in Holland and elsewhere? By suggesting that we really should have a "Muslim Holiday" in Germany?
I wish I were joking, but I am not. A substantial
fraction of our (German) Government, and if the polls are to be believed, the German people, actually believe that creating an Official State "Muslim Holiday" will somehow spare us from the wrath of the fanatical Islamists.
One cannot help but recall Britain's Neville
Chamberlain waving the laughable treaty signed by
Adolph Hitler, and declaring European "Peace in our time".
What else has to happen before the European public and its political leadership get it? There is a sort of crusade underway, an especially perfidious crusade consisting of systematic attacks by fanatic Muslims, focused on civilians, directed against our free, open
Western societies, and intent upon Western
Civilization's utter destruction.
It is a conflict that will most likely last longer than any of the great military conflicts of the last century - a conflict conducted by an enemy that cannot be tamed by "tolerance" and "accommodation" but is actually spurred on by such gestures, which have proven to be, and will always be taken by the Islamists for signs of weakness.
His American critics may quibble over the details, but we Europeans know the truth. We saw it first hand:
Ronald Reagan ended the Cold War, freeing half of the German people from nearly 50 years of terror and virtual slavery. And Bush, supported only by the Social Democrat Blair, acting on moral conviction, recognized the danger in the Islamic War against democracy. His place in history will have to be evaluated after a number of years have passed.
In the meantime, Europe sits back with charismatic self-confidence in the multicultural coner, instead of defending liberal society's values and being an attractive center of power on the same playing field as the true great powers, America and China.
On the contrary - we Europeans present ourselves, in contrast to those "arrogant Americans", as the World Champions of "tolerance", which even (Germany's Interior Minister) Otto Schily justifiably criticizes. Why? Because we're so moral? I fear it's more because we're so materialistic so devoid of a moral compass.
For his policies, Bush risks the fall of the dollar, huge amounts of additional national debt, and a massive and persistent burden on the American economy - because unlike almost all of Europe, Bush realizes what is at stake - literally everything.
While we criticize the "capitalistic robber barons" of America because they seem too sure of their priorities, we timidly defend our Social Welfare systems. Stay out of it! It could get expensive! We'd rather discuss reducing our 35-hour workweek or our dental coverage, or our 4 weeks of paid vacation... Or listen to TV pastors preach about the need to "reach
out to terrorists. To understand and forgive".
These days, Europe reminds me of an old woman who, with shaking hands, frantically hides her last pieces of jewelry when she notices a robber breaking into a neighbor's house.
Appeasement? Europe, thy name is Cowardice.
Dankeschoen
