They don't have any problem with Hamas at all. No warnings that they must declare a desire for peace with Israel. No admonitions that they must renounce the supremacist jihad ideology or forswear the desire to subjugate non-Muslims as dhimmis. All that is just fine. From AP, with thanks to JE:
RAMALLAH, West Bank - Israel froze the transfer of millions of dollars in tax rebates and customs payments to the Palestinian Authority, and Palestinian officials said Wednesday that Saudi Arabia and Qatar have promised $33 million in quick aid to ease a severe budget crisis.Saudi Arabia promised $20 million and Qatar pledged $13 million to help the Palestinian Authority pay January salaries to 137,000 employees, a senior Palestinian official said. He spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal was not final.
Earlier, Israel said it was suspending the transfer of $45 million in tax and customs revenues it collected in January while Western nations weigh whether to continue supporting the Palestinian Authority after Hamas, with its history of suicide bombings and rejection of Israel, forms a government.
The Israeli action could cause unrest in the West Bank and Gaza.
"We want to destroy you. And if you don't give us money, we will riot."
Western donors, led by the U.S. and EU, funnel about $900 million to the Palestinians each year, most of it designated for reconstruction projects in the impoverished Gaza Strip and West Bank. They are reconsidering that funding, demanding that Hamas recognize Israel and renounce violence.
900 million versus 33 million from the Saudis and Qatar. As Hugh says: stop the jizya.

This might be a good way to start bleeding the Saudis. This won't mean much to them, but we can put OUR donations to good use (namely in a coastal radar surveillance network for the mediterranean shores).

I don't think those democraticly elected to serve the interests of their voters who happen to approve funding the PA and other poor moslem nations really know anything about it.
why?
Well, I heard that during a human rights conference in the mid-90's that was detailing the systematic abuse of the copts that an American senator who was in attandance exclaimed something a long the lines of "we give that country billions a year and I had no idea all this went on" in total surprise.
I understand that if the USA do fund the PA there is an independant committee that can force the government to stop if it believes by doing funding the PA, genocide is supported.
Likewise, in the UK, subjects will be allowed to break the law to stop the EU funding the PA if they can show a court that funding will aid genocide.
This is clear because a judge ruled that the ladies in Swords to Ploughshares that caused £millions of damage to a BAE jet destined for Indonesia where doing the right thing and BAE could not sue them because they had demonstrated that the plane would be used in the genocide of the East Timorese.

The problem with funding from other Muslim states from the point of view of Muslims worldwide, is that it does not address the issue of who is going to pay the jizya? The Americans and Europeans are refusing to pay their jizya so faithful Muslims worldwide have no choice but to obey their canon (Quran, hadiths & Sira) and wage war on the Americans and Europeans. If they do not, according to their own holy books, they will be called to account on the Day of Judgement for disobeying the Will of God.

Promises, promises... Don't these Arab nations regularly "pledge" funds, & fail to pony up the money they've promised?
Not that I mind. Let the Palentinians learn the hard way that the choices they have made will force them to depend on their undependable bretheren.
And what's with this, "We want to destroy you. And if you don't give us money, we will riot."?
I applaud Israel for so quickly cutting off the cash flow. I hope to God that the US. throws on the brakes & stops aiding the PA. as well. Not one red cent of our tax dollars should find it's way to the Palestinians. Let them rot.

Well, the Israelis shut off 45 million and the Saudis and Qatars promised 33 million. Seems like they're going to be running a 12 million dollar deficit, and that's just for January. If the US shuts off its 75 million per month pipeline, they're up shit creek without a paddle.
After watching the Palestinian children dance in the streets on 9/11, I'm liking this turn of events. I understand Israel also provides electricity to the PA. They should cut that, too, so they'll be broke and sitting in the dark.
Moreover, I think all this aid is what is enabling them to be terrorists. It's just like here in the US how public housing projects turn into centers for crime. People only respect what they've had to work for.
Cut off their money, let them feel the pinch for a month or so, then offer to buy their weapons from them. Five bucks for a pistol, ten for a rifle. $25 for an RPG. We'll have those sons of bitches disarmed in a week.

"We will destroy you! And if you don't give us money, we will riot!"
Brilliant! That just about sums the whole thing up. Kinda like Al Sharpton on super steroids. One question..the statement is in quotes..Who said it?

According to the Moscow Kommersant daily, Israeli officials were shocked by Putin openly supporting Palestinian terrorists.
Commenting on Hamas's recent victory at the Palestinian legislative elections, Putin said Russia never declared Hamas a terrorist organization, although it never supported its actions. The West should not cut financial aid because of the Hamas s victory in the elections, he added.
However, Putin also called on Hamas to take steps towards normalizing relations with Israel and the rest of the international community.
"Hamas must refrain from radical statements, recognize Israel's right to exist, and establish contacts with the international community," Putin said.
I wonder how much Russia donates to the Pals? Zilch?

When Rice and Bush talk about Democracy Being on the March, is Russia one of the countries they are talking about? Is a country either "democratic" or not, or are there gradations in the Rice-Bush or Bush-Rice view? Freedom House thinks so.
Would it be fair to say that Russia is sinking in the level of its commitment to democracy?
And how is Iraq doing, a country where threats have now bee uttered against the Danes, for the cartoonish reasons, by people whom American soldires not only liberated, but are now risking their lives to further support, defend, protect?
Any problem with American public opinion when they begin to realize that's what's going on?
Any sense that the fury directed at this foolish policy might prevent even a sensible Republican from winning in 2008, or might undercut the sensible reuquirements of domestic security? Any hint of connecting those dots by anyone in the empyrean of power?
