Two armed Palestinian groups threatened to target European nationals in the Middle East in the escalating furore over cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed, as a French newspaper editor was sacked for printing them.The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades and the Popular Resistance Committee warned that "all nationals and those who work in the diplomatic corps" of Denmark Norway and France "can be considered targets." on Thursday
The two groups threatened to destroy all local offices and consulates of the three states unless they closed, and called for a Muslim boycott of Danish merchandise to be extended to France and Norway.
Gunmen besieged the European Union's Gaza City headquarters early Thursday, scrawling the words "Closed Until Further Notice" on its door.Norway announced that it had closed its West Bank mission in response the threats, and was taking them "very seriously"....
In Egypt, the state-owned Al-Gomhurriya newspaper decried the cartoon's publication as a "conspiracy" and warned that "any attack against our prophet will not go unpunished", while Tunisia joined Morocco in banning sales of France Soir.
The head of Lebanon's fundamentalist Hezbollah movement, Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, drew a link to the 1989 fatwa, or Islamic sentence, issued against British writer Salman Rushdie by Iran's Ayatollah Khomeini.
"If there had been a Muslim to carry out the fatwa of Imam Khomeini against the renegade Salman Rushdie, the scum who are insulting our Prophet Mohammed in Denmark, Norway and France would not dare do so," he said.
The Danish authorities should be aware that "there are millions of Muslims who are ready to defend the honour of their religion and their prophet," he warned.
Where are the millions of Muslims who are ready to defend the honour of their religion and their prophet against the likes of Osama bin Laden, who are -- we are told by the President and everyone else -- dragging their religion through the mud? The fact that we have already seen anger over these cartoons that far outstrips any Muslim anger we have seen anywhere over jihad terrorism is extraordinarily telling.

Maybe we could devise a Moderate Muslim eye chart with a cartoon of Mohammed and a drawing of Ground Zero in NYC. If the first makes you madder than the second, you are no moderate.

If Hezbollah is calling for a boycott of Denmark, Norway, & France, I will stage my own personal BUYcott.
This does cause me a mini-crisis in that I must now say, "Go France!" They still have a lot to prove to me, but pissing off Hezbollah is a good start.

The editor of the French newspaper was fired because its new owner is a Muslim. I think I read that on Little Green Footballs. Can anyone else confirm that?

Muslim states boycotting Denmark and uttering warnings, Muslim mobs attacking EU sites in Gaza, Muslims all over Europe, and outside Europe, attempting to change the most essential freedoms of Europeans, within Europe, even the plausible con-men, like Tariq Ramadan (and no one should be permitted to express, or even form, an opinion about Tariq Ramadan without having read both "Frere Tariq" by Caroline Fourest, and reading the "Lettera aperta a Ramadan" by Magdi Allam, an Egyptian Muslim who, just like Ramadan, but from quite a different persepctive, understands fuly the aims and varied means of the Muslim Brotherhood).
From the Saudis recalling their Ambassador and boycotting Danish goods, to those who have willingly been stooges for agents of the Jihad, there is a world-wide campaign. What happens in Iraq will do nothing about that campaign, will have no effect. That the Bush-Rice team does not understand this, does not begin to understand the other, more instruments of Jihad, that it cannot look beyond the Middle East and focus on the most important theatre -- Western Europe -- shows the ignorance, the obstinacy, the narrowness, the ineffectiveness, of the world-view of those who now presume to defend us, without understanding, without being able to identify properly or to speak about openly with any inteligence, the very menace that supposedly they are dealing with, and according to them dispatching, for they will settle "for nothing less than victory." That phrase could only be uttered by fools, and believed by other fools.
There are plenty of those to go around.

Their website doesn't begin to do justice to the selection of international foods, beers, and wines in the back half of the store.
Any food one would want from N. Europe (as well as India, Thailand, Japan, etc.), they can probably order if they don't have it on hand already.

...Now let me get this straight: These jihadists tell us that, in the context of the Israel-Palestine conflict, they are so desperate that they have no choice but to target Israeli women, children, and babies, for slaughter, right? They are so desperate, so forced by circumstances that they must blow themselves up when they kill other people, because they have no other way to solve their problems, right? Where do they get the time, out of their busy schedules, to turn their noble struggle (jihad) toward killing diplomats over CARTOONS?
Maybe the compulsion is in their religion and not in their circumstances.

Here's a theoretical "Moral Equivalence" test for all you they-do-it-to liberals. Take the following article and swap the words Christian and Muslim and also swap the words Mohammed and John-The-Baptist and see how it reads:

So we see pictures of people around the world who practice this "Religion of Peace" in the streets protesting, and yet......when Christians around the world are targeted for death......these same children from the "Religion of Peace" will not drag their religious sacred ASS into the street to speak out against these unpeaceful acts of violence. Their Actions Speak Very Clearly....Don't They!
I recommend drawing these CARTOONS seven days a week, maybe then the streets will fill up with children from the "Religion of Peace" and a accurate PICTURE will emerge to the world........that this religion is nothing more than a DEATH CULT.

Actually, some cartoonist working for the Arab media did precisely that in response to the London Transit System bombings last summer. I believe a sampling was reproduced on frontpagemag.com or perhaps it was MEMRI.org and are probably archived there.
