Call for Jihad over prophet cartoon row goes online

"To the billion Muslims: where are your arms? Your enemies have trampled on the prophet. Rise up." He said this in Riyadh. That's right. Our friend and ally Saudi Arabia. From Middle East Online, with thanks to Twostellas:

Muslim extremists are using the furore over the Prophet Mohammed cartoons published in European newspapers to rally the faithful to a jihad (holy war), in several Internet postings.

"Brothers, it's war against Islam ..., grab your swords," says hardline Saudi cleric Sheikh Badr bin Nader al-Mashari in a voice recording posted on an Islamist website.

He said the cartoons - first published by a Danish newspaper in September with several other European papers following suit over the past week - are "part of the war waged by the decadent West against the triumphant Islam".

"To the billion Muslims: where are your arms? Your enemies have trampled on the prophet. Rise up," screamed the sheikh, who is the imam of a mosque in Riyadh, amid the cries of the faithful listening to his speech....

"Boycotts and messages of indignation instead of bombs and explosives," lamented female blogger Ashiqat al-Jihad (lover of the holy war) in one posting.

Another blogger singled out France, where the left-leaning paper Liberation reprinted two of the controversial cartoons.

The influential Le Monde also splashed a cartoon of the prophet on its front page Thursday, a day after France Soir reproduced all of the original cartoons that appeared in the Danish paper Jyllands-Posten citing its right to free expression.

"Our prophet was insulted again by France. The boycott will accomplish nothing. We need bombs and explosives," said another blogger under the pseudonym Abu Badr.

A blogger using the name Ubda called on Islamic militants in Iraq, Palestine and Chechnya not to spare any Danes and Norwegians they come across.

"Slit their throats in the style of (Abu Musab) al-Zarqawi," he said referring to Iraq's most wanted militant and leader of Al-Qaeda in the war-torn country.

London-based Arab newspaper Al-Quds Al-Arabi published Thursday a statement attributed to an Al-Qaeda linked group, the Brigades of Abu Hafs al-Masri, warning Denmark and all those who insult the prophet with a "bloody war".

"The infidels must know that the coming days will see a bloody war and a series of blessed conquests," said the statement.

Something tells me that this is going to be much worse (or better, depending on how you see things) than the furor that happened with Rushdie. I personally think this is a good thing. The World Wide Web didn't really exist in 1989--people didn't have the information super highway at their disposal to research subjects for themselves, so quickly. Now, they do, and people from all over the world will hopefully, quickly learn of what Islam really teaches by finding sites such as this one.

Once the West "and the rest" discover what Islam is really all about, then the West "and the rest" may finally start taking actions necessary to preserve their values and culture into the next millenium.

"Brothers, it's war against Islam ..., grab your swords," says hardline Saudi cleric Sheikh Badr bin Nader al-Mashari.

Caroons constitute war. Time to kill!

This reminds me of Mohammed when he was starting out. Standing in the 110 degree heat on Main Street Mecca, hurling death threats and insults and promises of economic doom, Mohammed was hurt and offended when the town father's went to His rich uncle and demanded that the jackass shut the hell up.

This sent Mohammed reeling over the edge, plunging the First Moslem into... guess what? A murderous rage.

A murderous rage because people privately complained about his incessant threats.

Fake victims, and murderers, that's what Moslems are.

From the religon of peace, one of the positive points to these murderous cowards, it will awaken the rest of the non-muslim world and reveal the true nature of the muslim cult of death! Vivre la Press!

"Muslim extremists..."

Hmm, I wonder how many that is. Let's see, 1.3 billion times, say 5% (conservatively) equals 65 MILLION RADICALS and I would bet the number is larger than that. That's some small minority of extremists (tm). Major Religions of the World

(other snippets rumored to be in the voice recording)

..."If you get killed and leave your nine year old daughter behind ... don't worry I'll take care of her!"

What about Wikipedia? They have a thorough posting of this whole issue:

Wiki has a much larger audience than any newspaper.

Well...Well.....I guess the cartoons with bombs and swords are an accurate picture of how these Muslims behave. I guess their two face personality has been shown to the world.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

Okay, I must be missing something here. I thought Muslims were against IDOLATRY.

Idolatry is defined as :"having or showing excessive admiration or devotion; excessive devotion to or reverance for some person or thing."

Presumably that means that one must not show excessive devotion to or reverance for something that isn't GOD (or Allah).

So someone explain to me how this violent reaction among the ummah doesn't betray "excessive devotion" to the person, the human being, Muhammad.

Could it possibly be that Muslims are the ultimate IDOLATERS? Could it possibly be that their willingness to KILL and MURDER those who merely draw a picture of Muhammad reveals an IDOLATRY of the prophet that the supposed injunction against depicting the prophet in human form was intended to PREVENT in the first place? Could it possibly be that Muslims, through their violent and insane reactions to some drawings of the prophet are in fact revealing their HYPOCRICY as IDOLATERS of the most extreme kind? In fact, the ULTIMATE idolaters? WORSE idolaters than the cartoonists themselves?

Yes. I think so. Muslims have revealed themselves to be the worst idolaters on the planet. They are completely and utterly OBSESSED with the image of Muhammed. No matter that that they forbid his depiction. The outcome is the same. Utter obsession - and thus idolatry - of the human man, Muhammad.

WHAT. BLOODY. HYPOCRITES.

But, hey, what's surprising about Muslims being hypocrites, to anyone with their eyes open? Admittedly, after awhile, it almost ceases to shock. All the more reason though to redouble our efforts to expose this hypocrisy and to fight against the human tendency towards complacency and defeat in the face of such obvious lies from the Muslim ummah, especially when these lies and hypocrisy are backed up, as they so obviously are right now and have been, for 1400 long years, by credible threats of violence.

It is interesting - your discussion on Islamic idolatry.

Islam looks down on Hinduism and on Buddhism for practicing idolatry.

Because these religions have their idols in their houses or temples, which they face when they pray - Islam has a central Idol in Mecca - which every Muslim in the world has to face and recite their prayers. And at least once in their lives - all Muslims are required to encircle this stone ritualistically.

What is the difference between the Kaaba stone and the Buddha statue?

In my eyes there is only one which really represents peace and it is not the Islamic Kaaba.

The Muslims today called for a "day of Anger" at these cartoons. Isn't every day, a day of anger for these people? Suicide bombings, stoning women to death, burning flags, jihad, death to the infidels..

As a member of an ethnic minority (Hindu), I find all of this tiresome and depressing. If Muslims are so unhappy at Western values then why don't they go and live in Yemen where they can rant and rave as much as they want? except they wouldn't be allowed to.

We are in the middle a major clash of cultures - The Muslim world against the West (and what it stands for) . Please remember that NOT all ethnic groups are Muslims - they just make the most noise and trouble. Speaking as a someone from an Indian background, I can tell you that Indians (1 Billion plus people - 80% Hindu) are pretty much all Anglo & Americo-philes. Indians love free speech and democracy - India is the largest democracy in the world. As someone of Indian origin but born in the UK I would like to say that:

1) I do not wish to see the fabric of UK society change
2) I want the UK to remain a Christian, secular nation
3) I value Western values of free-speech and the integrity of its Institutions
4) I am eternally grateful for the opportunities I have been given and I have never felt that my ethnicity has held me back.
5) I appreciate the fact that I have been allowed to practice my religion quietly and in such an inclusive manner.
5) The West MUST act now to oppose the intentions of these wicked, brainwashed jihadi nutjobs.

Pass it on: "Islam has a central Idol in Mecca - which every Muslim in the world has to face and recite their prayers. And at least once in their lives - all Muslims are required to encircle this stone ritualistically."

What an excellent point you make. Further proof of the fundamental IDOLATRY of Islam. That stupid black stone.

"What is the difference between the Kaaba stone and the Buddha statue?"

The Buddha statue? What does the Buddha statue ultimately have to do with Buddhism? Personally, I think that that the influx of Buddhist thought, or what I would more generally refer to as "Eastern Philosophy", is one of the best things that has come to the west - the epitome of the best that "multiculturalism" has to offer. Buddhism will survive in the west for as long as I can foresee because of the integrity of its philosophical arguments. Buddhism appeals to both rationality AND spirituality and its staying power as an ideology across the entire planet will trancend the destruction of some mere statues. Seriously, do you think the Buddha could care less about the destruction of some statues as long as the ideas (bad word to use :-)) lived on in the human heart? No - I think not. But that's because Buddhism doesn't depend on idolatry, as Islam does. Buddhism stands completely uncorrupted, on its own merits.

Rajiv--

I think that what you say needs to be stressed over and over again.

I made this point about the reaction to Muslims harassing Australians on the beach, that a massive unthinking attack on people who "look Muslim" was bad because it targets the ibn Warriqs, that is the apostate Muslims, and also people like you and in fact like me who may look "ethnic" but are not Muslim.

I for one am glad when I am profiled in an airport. They can strip me nude as long as it makes the flight safer. But I don't want the anger at Muslims to spill over to other people who are entirely innocent and in fact potential allies in defense of modern civilization.

I was in NYC on 9/11 and I remember talking to a Sikh friend about this very issue. Its no fun being people who understand the issue because our various peoples have been up against it for a mellinium and then to be looked at as if we were the enemy.

My pals from England, who I am happy to say are FINALLY getting it, have said the same that they never had any problem from Indian Hindus. Whoever wrote those signs in the latest UK protest is one dumb mother^*$#er.

Lastly, I think a huge population that has dealt with the aggression of Islam for over a thousand years is a welcome member of this increasingly scary planet.

An old 70's tune (Yes I am Woman)

Quite fitting I must say, for our current enemy... the 'men' of islam:

Oh..woah woah woah,
yes, I'm muslim but I'm much too damn insane
Oh, Yes you'll pay the price but look how much I've gained
If I have to, I will ... blow out my brains.

"The infidels must know that the coming days will see a bloody war and a series of blessed conquests"

According to sme prophecies this might be true, they might have a few victories, but what is often overlooked by these Muslims salivating at he prospect of a few victories is that after a few victories, according to these prophecies, Islam will be utterly destroyed.

Islam will be kaput, finished forever, gone without trace.

These Muslims really do have a death wish don't they.

Gee - these cartoons are the greatest thing since sliced heads!

We need more of them (cartoons caricaturing the infinite flaws and inadequacies of Islam and Muslims) -- and then more coverage of the barbarian Muslim reactions and rampages...

Finally some clarity! The true nature of our side and theirs is revealed through some of the simplest forms of human expressions -- little drawings...

You know - today the big discussion was about appeasement -

The Egyptian leader asked the West to do more to appease Islam.

But there is absolutely no way we can appease that.

Have a look at those Yahoo photo's of the protests (see Borg above),

There is virtually no one around, who is a non-Muslim, who doesn't feel threatened in some way, these days.

You almost get the feeling like you are being surrounded. This is not the freedom we understand or that we are used to.

We cannot appease it.

What this means no one can be sure.
But appeasement's not going to work.

President Bush:

Have you looked at the news media from across the world or have your liberal staff kept you from seeing that the followers of the
"noble"
religion of Islam are threatening the world with destruction because of cartoons that insult their prophet.

How can you insult Mohammed who was a child molester and child rapists. Mohammed forcibly married a 6 year old baby girl and started molesting and raping this innocent girl child at 9 years of age.

Islam is a cult of filth, violence, perversion and corrupt that only has followers that are violent, perverted and corrupt.

Islam is not "noble" or a religion but a geo-political party that has forcibly conquered nations across the Middle East and in Africa and intends on conquering the world while protesting that the Islam and the followers of Islam are being subjugated and discriminated against.

Does this not remind you of Hitler???????

The war with Islam is coming to America and threatens the very existence of America and the freedom of all American and of the free world.

President Bush, wake up and see the truth before it is too late. Look at the placards carried by the Muslims threatening the lives of all free people.

The war for out freedom is coming and it is near.

Rajiv, outstanding post and welcome to our eclectic band of merry infedels. I viewed the middle-east conflict through the prism of Israel prior to 911. The only thing I new was some vague utopia of Andalusia prior to the Inquisition where Muslims and Jews coexisted--but only now have I learned it was a precarious existance. Although I support Israel strongly, I sometimes felt that if only Israel was in Canada or someplace like that with nice neighbors. Menachem Begin himself joked how Moses mean't Canada but stuttered and said Cannan . . . or something like that. Now the my more sobering view of the world is this is a clash of cultures as you framed it . . . and a clash of modernity versus a lack of introspection, barbarism and a warped set of values. I learned so much about India by way of reading V.S. Naipul who also wrote a brave travelogue about a year journying through Pakistan, Iran, Malysia, Indonesia. He put his but on the line and recorded in unflinching terms how static and suppressed life, intelectual inquiry and culture were 'among the converted peoples.'

Idolatory isn't what makes Islam the excrementary cult that it is, and the lack of it isn't what makes Buddhism great. Rather, a look at the life of their founders would be more revealing.

Buddha was one Prince Siddharta for the earlier part of his life, and also an unmatched warrior. But after being the crown prince for a while, he one day travelled beyond his Kingdom and came upon 4 sights - an old beggar, an ill man, a dead person, and then an ascetic meditating over the pursuit of the truth. Shortly afterwards, Siddharta left his Kingdom and went to meditate, and went on to discover certain truths in life that today form the basis of Buddhism.

If it was wealth and power that he was after, he was born with it, and could have been yet another prosperous ruler. Instead, he decided to delve into the reasons for human suffering, and went on to guide thousands of people, including various rulers, during his lifetime. One could argue whether that philosophy is durable, but you are right - it stands on the integrity of its philosophical arguments. (In fact, given the fact that it doesn't acknowledge nor deny the existance of a God, some have suggested that it's more a philosophy than a religion.)

Now, contrast this with our desert pedophilic bandit, whose every move in life - from his raids on caravans, his demands on followers, his lust for women, and that tells one why the religion he founded is nothing more than a glorified cult, which has assumed the appearance of a religion by enslaving a billion people worldwide.

Glad to see more Hindus speak out against Islam. In India, doing that would be considered inciting communal propaganda and hatred, although it's perfectly okay when Muslims riot against Hindus. In some circles, there is a tendency to look at this as a clash of civilizations - East vs West. But Indian Hindus & Sikhs, Thai Buddhist, Indonesian Christians & Hindus, etc aren't part of the West, but they are at the receiving end of the Jihad. Which is why it's necessary to ally with Jews & Christians against this enemy.

Biorabbi

As a kid, I read in history about how Hindus were massacred by Muslims over the years 1000-1761, and in parallel, how Jews had been at the receiving end of things both in Europe and the Mid East. Since the Jews were the original inhabitants of Israel, Judae and Samaria, I always supported their claim on the terretory (not knowing much more about the history of that area). I saw strong parallels between the way the Temple Mount had been destroyed and a mosque built over it, vs similar destruction of thousands of temples in India. I was also saddened by the fact that Zoroastrianism had been removed from the only place it called home - Persia. As a result, if I had any doubts about who was right and who wasn't, the fact that Islam followed a history of rape and pillage against Jews, Hindus and Christians made it clear that this was a common enemy that had to be confronted someday.

Therefore, I had always been an admirer of Israel for the way they stood up against Islamic imperialism - and I didn't see the Arab alliance as anything else, despite the leftist credentials of Nasser, et al. Unfortunately, India, under the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty, had a love affair with the likes of Nasser, and were virulently pro-Islamic, and thereby anti-Israel. Therefore, since I couldn't in good conscience identify with that Dhimmi Congress regime in India, I threw my moral support behind Israel, and people like Begin, Sharon, Bashir Gemayel were my heroes. Of course, we never thought the day would come that the Soviet Union would cease to exist, and the new separation between dar ul Harb and dar ul Islam would be the basis of division of the world (more at the behest of the Mohammedans rather than us).

It was only after the death of Rajiv Gandhi that India had the good sense to establish relations with Israel. Today, the 2 countries have a good relationship on Defense. Unfortunately, in the UN, India still tends to vote with the Arab League, due to the dependence on Oil. I can't wait for that to end, because by maintaining such 'friendships', India is also indirectly helping Pakistan. I do not believe that a solution on Kashmir would settle Indo-Pak differences: they undoubtedly see themselves as a successor to the Moghul empire, much like Arafat saw himself as a modern day Saladin.

Okay, so off my soap box... for now

When this cartoon story broke i immediately rushed to the good old world wide web to see what all the fuss was about! As a cartoonist myself I understand the medium and a picture paints a thousand words so to speak. Cartoons communicate to the quick. Even illiterates can get the point. Well what was all the fuss about? These cartoons are just satire and nothing more. We've had The Life of Brian poking fun at Christianity and a few would be offended. That's the point surely! The offence is in the eye of the beholder, it is just a starting point for debate isn't it? i know it hurts when your belief is in any way challenged but to grow in (or out of)your belief is a valuable thing. These cartoons or any other challenge should be welcomed as a test of faith surely? So to run out in the streets as a mob making death threats, in my view, is missing the point and an opportunity to grow. Do these people want to grow as individuals or stay stunted as manipulated foot soldiers? I know little of Islam besides the beauty of the culture's art and poetry. Rumi and the Sufis that sort of thing are emminantly inspirational. This nasy little reactionary mob side of Islam must surely be an embarressment to all real thinking hearty Muslims.
Personally I don't like all these labels and banners we march under. Christian, Hindu, Muslim. Even the name Buddhism, I have heard, was coined by the west sometime a few centuries ago to give it a title. We want to belong to clubs to feel safe. Is that so? The brave and authentic man will try to stand on his own two feet as soon as he can learn to walk. We are still crawling on this earth it seems.
Back to the cartoons, if Mohammed should not be portayed then who is to say that is Mohammed in the cartoon? Because the cartoonist says so? I would say 'This is not Mohammed Mr Cartoonist, this is your own invention, stick to Itchy and Scratchy! Goodbye!'

Islam: The excrementary cult... Indeed! That's great...

Never has so much filth strewn itself about and called itself a "religion". Islam the sewer. Islam the cesspool. Islam: a pit of rotting carrion, putrid crud, slippery scum and sticky slime... A heinous ideology... It's also akin to a malignant disease...

The Qur'an is the most rude book. One example only; Chapter 5 verse 17 says; "Surely are infidels those who say that Allah (God) is the Christ, son of Mary. Say, O Muhammad, 'Who who thes has the least power against Allah. If He were to destroy the Christ, son of Mary and his mother ...'"
The Western countries have to ban this rude and disgusting book.

Wouldn't a real god or prophet be impervious to insult? Even amongst mortals the best way to deal with an insult is to ignore it. The most disturbing thing about this uproar is that the cartoons aren't actually mocking Islam, but rather violent or repressive behaviour on behalf of Islam. If a few lousy cartoons is all it takes then practically anything might prove an "insult". What if I were to state my beliefs publicly and insist "There is no Allah" and "Mohammed was a phony"? Would that also merit a death sentence? Trying to appease these religious nutters will prove a waste of time so why even bother? George Bush and "Rummy", at least, are under no illusions.

not that I agree with them in any way.. but d'ya know whom those islamics remind me of? A certain religion from Europe that thought burning people alive or murdering millions was good public entertainment.

I think humanity would benifit from growing out of needing religions to feel secure about one's place in the universe... or at least the earth would be a safer place.
