Jihad Watch Board member Ibn Warraq, editor of the superb Leaving Islam, has alerted me to a passage from Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais' 1784 stage comedy Marriage of Figaro (adapted by Mozart for the great opera), from the famous Freedom of Speech monologue in Act V, Scene 3:
"I cobble together a verse comedy about the customs of the harem, assuming that, as a Spanish writer, I can say what I like about Mohammed without drawing hostile fire. Next thing, some envoy from God knows where turns up and complains that in my play I have offended the Ottoman empire, Persia, a large slice of the Indian peninsula, the whole of Egypt, and the kingdoms of Barca {Ethiopia}, Tripoli, Tunisi, Algeria, and Morocco. And so my play sinks without trace, all to placate a bunch of Muslim princes, not one of whom, as far as I know, can read but who beat the living daylights out of us and say we are 'Christian dogs.' Since they can't stop a man thinking, they take it out on his hide instead..."
Plus ca change, plus c’est la meme chose.

Does anyone know if there is a demonstration being organized as a show of support for Europe and Free Speech?
If not, let's start one here in Washington (I live in the Washington area)
What do you say? Is there any group out there doing this?

Too bad nobody is willing to point out that these furious Moslems are only abiding by Islamic scripture.
I've monitored the news coverage very carefully, and nowhere have I heard mentioned the scriptural appropriateness of the cartoon depictions.
Plus, what's this fake and self-defeating assumption that the cartoons are in poor taste? Where is the room for poor taste in depicting a person who was a:
Thief
Torturer
Pedophile
Slaver
Sex-slaver
Kidnapper
Murder
Terrorist
Where is the room for poor taste when depicting such an animal?
Again, too bad our intellectuals are terrified of mentioning Afak and Marwan, for starters.

These people are making violent threats against others in the name of religion, and hence are in direct contravention of the religious hate speech laws recently introduced in the UK. Will they be prosecuted for this? I think not.

The Koran shows us that the Prophet Mohammed was a violent man.
Though the Muslims want us to see his more 'peaceful' side - while carrying out his violent instructions.
It is forbidden for Muslims to question their religion - but the rest of the world is not going to go along with that, no matter how much they jump up and down.
The violent Prophet of the Muslims ~ was depicted violently.
Although they may find it more difficult to behead a person's thoughts.

The guy with the sign "Behead..." is breaking the peace. At a minimum it should constitute a terroristic threat. But I guess the Brits (ie Blair and his running dogs) will do nothing.
Now does that mean I can carry a sign reading 'Behead all those that attack Christians/Insult Christ'?

What a lovely image... such peaceful people!
Please also write to the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Council of Europe, Alvaro Gil-Robles on commissioner.humanrights@coe.int who stated “Freedom of expression, too, has its limits" in connection to the publishing of the Danish cartoons.
I am delighted to see that taking to the streets armed with guns, fire and death threats is totally acceptable as is using the Danish flag as a doormat or torch.
Best wishes from a Danish national looking forward to being either exterminated or beheaded:)
PS. Damn, still haven't learned that satire is a big NO NO. Bad girl! Off to see if there are any gunmen at the front door.

wow ! thank you, I did not know that quote by Beaumarchais... Beaumarchais being one of the French "heroes" as is De Gaulle or Voltaire....
Interesting, very interesting. People often use Beaumarchais as an example of free spirit, etc. But when it comes to take those beautiful principles into action, all we get is embarrassed silences (from our politicians) or pathetic sentences like "it is not good to hurt people's feelings".
I went to the French blogs and I read some reactions... It is interesting to note that the Muslims who react cannot write in French. They often write the sounds. Their spelling is appalling. It is not French language anymore.
"a bunch of Muslim princes, not one of whom, as far as I know, can read but who beat the living daylights out of us and say we are 'Christian dogs"
Well in those posts I read about this:
- you know nothing about Islam and our Prophet, you are Infidel
- you think the Muslims are stupid but you are even more stupid because you are not Muslim
- Islam will win and you will see.
All that with Arab stuff between the sentences (which nobody understands, obviously) and a lot of religious stuff.
To be noted: the girls seem even more endocrinated than the guys.
They sound like little robots reciting their lesson, but a lesson which is very badly written.
(sorry for my English by the way ! But I have an excuse, I am French... and I don't want to "behead" people).

Can you help to phrase it with a reference to the appropriate legislation?
Those posters were at the very least behaviour likely to cause a Breach of the Peace.
I could make a case that they are the more serious offence under s19 (or off the top of my head is it 16, no Archbold to hand when you need one) Offences Against the Person Act - Threats to Kill.

joiesauvage - your English is outstanding. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I am American and I must admit, my grammar is terrible. No, awful. But I am excellent in math and science and I am an expert marksman. joiesauvage, you are an inspiration. I am also jealous of you for writing that well.
On another note, not only should we show our support to Europe and all free press everywhere, but we also need to give the muslim crazies as much air time as we can get them. We have to give them an open channel to demonstrate to the world just how bizarre their faith is, how obscene their actions are, and how evil the "prophet" really was.
I am going to buy a blue scarf tomorrow, wherever one may be. I have a question: what shall I wear in the summer time? I am not wearing a blue scarf in the summer I promise you that. Lapel pin maybe?
Also, I would prefer if everyone from now on put the word "prophet" in quotes to give proper context and meaning of the word. Usually, one can write fallicies, lies, or propaganda in quotes to flag the reader as to the hidden intent of the word.
One more thing, don't forget about putting the link www.jihadwatch.org on the signature block of your emails!

He did say several times why now are the muslims going bonkers when the Danish cartoons were done in the fall.. someone needs to send this man Robert's book! Rush does have tee shirts and other clothing with jokes made about CLub G'itmo. making fun of terrorists in jail in Gitmo. l did email him requesting him to make these cartoons of mohammad for the sake of freedom of speech and of the press..

I believe there is an over-whelming number who feel compelled to support those who had no part in creating the mess that is now known as 'Eurabia'. There are those of us who pray for them - daily.
But too many refuse the only sound Foundation available for the job. And that is sad.
The Koran is Isalm's foundation. And it is powerful. No?
Alarmed Pig Farmer? Great Post! 2006 06:32 PM Whether they hear or not - makes no difference for you in the Judgment other than our own works follow us to the grave. But it makes ALL of the difference for them! They just don't know it - Yet.
Posted by: Pass It On {Like that name} Though the Muslims want us to see his more 'peaceful' side - while carrying out his violent instructions.
It is forbidden for Muslims to question their religion
2 Scriptures worth pondering:
Jam 3:11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? [nope]
1Jo 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
And so - Muhammad leaves wide open - his followers to be fooled by Satan...who spoke these things to them:
In the Koran:
008.048 Remember Satan made their sinful acts seem alluring to them, and said: "No one among men can overcome you this day, while I am near to you" {{{who does that sound like?]: But when the two forces came in sight of each other, he turned on his heels, and said: "Lo! I am clear of you; lo! I see what ye see not; Lo! I fear Allah: for Allah is strict in punishment."
The Bible teaches that Satan is the most subtle of all creatures.
If the brutal teachings of beheadings and rape cannot show a person that the word ''''HOLY'''' has no connections with those acts - then where is the hope that they'll stop doing those things they're taught to do? In a divided army?
Divided we fall - United we stand.
And ALL it would take - is carrying out the Command - for every man to speak the Truth} Eph 4:25 Wah-lah! Peace accomplished!
God condemned Palestine for end time} Isa 14:31
This is the song of Moses} Exd 15:14
Those who keep the Command of God - they 'sing' this song} Rev 15:3
No other god ever mentioned Palestine for end time - and here is Palestine for ALL to see.
This is how to know which Foundation to follow - and which one to fight against.
Surely - the Beslan children who were brutaly and ruthlessly slaughtered by true Muslims - will agree....in the Judgment.
Hbr 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.
And here is my own personal judgement:
Since when did the HOLY God in heaven - the Creator of heaven and earth - order rapes and beheadings - to prove His Power?
Only fools would think such a thing!

It's times like this I open up George Orwell (PBUH) "Facts, at any rate, could not be kept hidden. They could be tracked down by inquiry, they could be squeezed out of you by torture. But if the object was not to stay alive but to stay human, what did it ultimately make? They could not alter your feelings; for that matter you could not alter them yourself, even if you wanted to. They could lay bare the utmost detail everything that you had done or said or thought; but the inner heart, whose workings were mysterious even to yourself, remained impregnable."

There were some discussions about banning Iran from the World Cup but sadly FIFA are terribly politically correct as well (I don't think it helps that the main man at FIFA is Swiss) so it's not going to happen.
I am worried that Germany may experience it's first islamic attack during the World Cup. We've got England, the US, Australia, Poland and the Netherlands there - all US allies in the war in Iraq (as far as I'm aware - not sure which other countries that take part have troops in Iraq).
I know our US friends don't care too much about (our) football but it's the biggest sporting event in the world and attacking it would give the islamists a lot of exposure.

"We of the decent hemisphere will grant Muslims special hands-off rights and they, all of them, will simply stop the violence."
This is the sad trap we decent Westerners keep falling into, and the trait which the Muslims in our midst take full advantage of...
We make the assumption that the Muslim ummah can both embrace Islam and manifest plain human decency, as we understand it... We can't imagine how they couldn't, or wouldn't, or that Islam actually says that they shouldn't...
It amazes us -- it dumbfounds us... It confuses us...
But gradually, through an endless parade of atrocities and abominations, as well as photos such as this clear and articulate one... we are collectively beginning to understand that Muslims in the thrall of Islam are different from us -- that they don't wish for the things we wish for, that they don't regard us with decency, plain or otherwise, but with a vicious contempt, an acidic genocidal hatred, and a blood lust for our subjugation. Increasingly they can be heard, though this is nothing new, calling for our annihilation... They are becoming far more truculent -- far more brazen -- because they have mistaken our slowness to retaliate, or our confusion through our decency, as weaknesses which augered their success and ascendancy...
Despite Islam's nearly unbroken record of spreading by the sword, and its subsequent use of terrorism and totalitarianism to keep control over it's new domains, I believe we are witnessing a kind of frenzy and chaos which will ultimately cast them and their corrupt decaying culture finally into an abyss from which they cannot emerge...
We may experience gut wrenching acts of barbarism from them in the interim... and many of us may die in their various and escalating attacks -- but have no doubt -- they will fare far FAR worse than we in the war they have chosen to wage against us...
We may need God's forgiveness for the things we may need to do to defend ourselves against their evil, but it's they more than us who should fear what the future holds, and what their vile "Great Jihad" will yeild as fruit for their endeavors...
It will be their ruin, and rightly so...

jsla,
It was more of a tactic than a realistic hope. Well, I pray, especially for those three school girls that were beheaded but also for every regular Joe or Jane that was killed or injured for no good reason dictated by mother nature but by a belief in a bad religion. It is an offer every elected official should make to the Islamic world: Give us the right to practice our religions (or lack of) anywhere on this earth and we will respect your religion. I would give my life (and my money) for any politician who would stand up and demand this simple test.

Amen! But I would suggest that our non-stop forebearance towards Muslims since 9/11 is a form of your simple test... I think this has been an expression of hopefulness from our leadership that by reflecting to them a tolerance and openness, we hoped and prayed that they would reflect the same back towards us... Have they done this?
NO!
Instead we are on the receiving end of endless chastisements for being "racist", "intolerant", and "Islamophobic". Instead we have been treated to endless lectures about how WE are the ones who need more self-reflection, that WE are the ones in need of cultural, religious, and policy reform, and that WE are the problem, or the cause triggering the Muslim atrocities -- It's never Islam!
Until Muslims show the slightest capacity to self-criticise, and admit that Islam clearly has some major malfunctions causing tremendous human suffering, we are in a grotesque holding pattern... But we aren't standing still -- If anything, Islam seems to be getting worse -- getting more rage filled -- getting more belligerant -- more warlike, more supremacist -- more arrogant -- more brazen in its affronts...
In the vain hope that Muslims might follow our lead by calling Islam a "great world religion" and a "religion of peace", the Muslims have failed to take up the challenge and prove us right... They are failing that test too...
I understand your sentiments fully though. I wish things weren't the way they are, and that Islam, and Muslims were not the way they are...

Tell me one thing, are the pictures of these so called human beings, full of rage and hatred, threatening, shouting and burning, holding sings that say annihilate, behead and slay, in countries all over the world,
are these extremists?
Or are they Muslims?

"Moderate" Islam is a fantasy. It's a stupid fantasy.
Hell. Not only stupid, but deadly dangerous. When the media darlings of "moderate" American muslims (CAIR) call for the replacement of the constitution with sharia law, then I have nothing but scorn and derision for the idiots who claim Islam is all "noble" and "peaceful."
Santy Claus, the tooth fairy, the Easter Bunny, the boogeyman, jackalopes, unicorns, little green martians and "moderate" muslims. They all share something in common.
Islam cannot ever co-exist with a secular democracy. Islam needs to be treated like naziism - banned and the muslims deported. All of them.
"Playing nice" with Islam doesn't work. For all the inclusion and respect and LIP SERVICE to the Islamic schlong, they still aren't singing KUMBAYA with us!
Time to grow up, America.

Free Speech-
Check online for a faux passport to flash if you are going into the land of the headless wonders.
You can buy reasonable-looking facsimiles of neutral countries' passports that will fool anyone merely being nosey and obnoxious in-country (but can't be used for customs, of course). I would suggest one from a country that few in Indonesia would have ever heard of and which also has no unpleasant 'colonial' ties.
(There are also stun guns in the form of cellphones, just in case.)
Bon voyage!

sonofwalker,
you're saying Google is having issues - i.e. either shutting you down or getting DDOS'ed themselves?
These 'savages' may have our modern tools, but I wager we can outdo 'em any day.
Plz clarify if possible...
Google is shutting you down...
or
Some DOS attacks targeting google, (blogspot.com or blogger.com) take you down.

It gets more surreal. From the BBC news site, "your view".....
What I find incredible that even the BBC who only mentioned glimpses of the cartoons have been targeted by Muslims. "On Thursday night a protest was held outside the BBC's Television Centre, after the corporation aired "glimpses" of the images, which it said it used "responsibly".

hello friends around the world
Funny to see how our politicians did celebrate in 2005 the bicentury of " année des lumières " (freedom of sciences and thinking )and then slide their trousers down to their shoes whenever one of these muslim bastards fart .
Beaumarchais was a XVIII century man .
Like or dislike what XVIII century men thought and did ( i am one who have a critic view on freemansonry and "youmenright" dogma ),but most of XVIII century men had BALLS .
Nowadays , politicians referring to those men , are only DOGSHITS !
best regards

Guys
Don't overlook photo#62 - "EUROPE TAKE SOME LESSONS FROM 9/11"
Or #35 - "BE PREPARED FOR THE REAL HOLOCAUST" or the one after that.
The one Robert the Good displayed above is one by the Moderate Muslims.
Is it too early to nominate the anti-Dhimmi of the year? Jyllands Posten deserves it for getting Mohammedans across the world to expose themselves as a bunch of Nazis, just when the world was beginning to delude itself into thinking that they aren't a threat.
Also, those of you in EU need to organize massive counter demonstrations. Burn effigies of Mohammed. Burn Qurans. Do a Tiennanmen Square like rally - and descecrate flags of Islamic countries at random - Saudi Arabia, Libya, Syria, Pakistan, PA, Iraq, Turkey, et al, in the same way that Denmark, Norway, France, EU. And burn gasoline when you are doing this - tell them what you think of their primary export. In case you want to know what their flags look like, and which ones to descecrate, here's a list
http://www.oic-oci.org/english/main/member-States.htm
Some countries on this list are a surprise, like Mozambique and Guyana, but anyway, here they are.
P.S. On the subject of URL sizes, can't we have a better editor, or something that wraps around without a single post swinging the page left? Most html tags don't seem to work here, including the simple tags that one wraps around an URL to keep it from breaking when wrapping.

Polish Infideless, Certorari
I will work on a draft of my letter later this morning.
If that e-mail address is wrong, on reflection a traditional letter may be more effective.
With cc to our MP's

listening to the press roundup on BBC radio 4 right now:
The Daily Mail (UK) has published those anti-Israeli/anti-semetic cartoons that are regularly carried in ME media.
general shock expressed in the papers about the signs carried above.
still no sign of any of the UK papers carrying the actual Danish cartoons.
at February 4, 2006 3:53 AM
There's an excellent comment piece today in the Times (UK) by Matthew Parris. It's strong stuff - he's a militant Atheist, and his attacks are more wide ranging than just Islam. Nonetheless, I think he's got to the heart of the matter. Here's a quote:
"Many faiths and ideologies achieve and maintain their predominance partly through fear. They, of course, would call it “respect”. But whatever you call it, it intimidates. The reverence, the awe — even the dread — that their gods, their KGB or their priesthoods demand and inspire among the laity are vital to the authority they wield.
Against reverence and awe the best argument is sometimes not logic, but mockery. Structures of oppression that may not be susceptible to rational debate may in the end yield to derision. When people see that a priest, rabbi, imam or uniformed official may be giggled at without lightning striking the impertinent, arguments may be won on a deeper level than logic."

In the absence of an e-mail address, and for the sake of 30p for a 1st class stamp, we UK posters should address our letters to Jack Straw and/or our constituency MP at:-
The House of Commons
London
SW1A 0AA
Threats to kill is an offence contrary to section 16 Offences Against the Person Act 1861.
There is no actual offence of "breach of the peace" but if a police office sees actions likely to cause a breach of the peace or that have caused a breach then he(she)may arrest that person and the offences likely to have been committed include the public order offences of threatening behaviour or disorderly conduct.
I would suggest than an MP or Minister (or lets be realistic, the officials)will take better notice of a letter than has been individually drafted. The standard of constructive posts here easily meets the standard of a convincing letter. Anybody who witnesses some of these demonstrations first hand is also best placed to speak of their threatening aspect.
We will each do what we are capable off, may the Lord bless us and keep us.

This is OT but according to my Radio News George Galloway has been refused entry to Egypt when he arrived to take part in a mock trial of george Bush and Tony Blair.
Anybody know anything more about this?

It was a beauty pagent in Nigeria last time they succumbed to the natural Muslim urge to rush out of the mosque and slay any innocent passersby in order to appease Allah the moon god of war and death. Don't forget a similar crisis erupted when rumors spead that the holy koran was mayhaps desecrated at gitmo. The really cheery thing is the Iranian kookballs will stop at nothing to get nuclear weapons. And they are intent on getting even with the rest of the world of infidels when they get them. They will teach us a lesson then, they hope and dream.
May the Peace of The Holy Prophet be upon you.
at February 4, 2006 6:24 AM
Granny Weatherwax,
I'd love to write to my constituency MP. His name is George Galloway. What do you suggest I write? All suggestions welcome!
Have written to Straw, asking for a) the text of his apologies to Christians when Jerry Springer the Opera was broadcast on the BBC, or alternatively b) an explanation of why exactly muslim sensibilities are more deserving of respect and care than Christian ones. (You and I know the answer - it's to do with the threat of violence, nothing more nothing less.)

I will be down to the post box within the hour with my missive to Jack Straw.
As for Gruesome Georgie I suggest
Dear George
Here kitty, kitty, nice saucer of milk, does it like it's tummy tickled?
Purreow !!!!!
Then perhaps a quote from the Good Book,
Genesis 9:1 (Which is go forth and multiply, not that we seriously want a multitude of little Gruesomes of course, but you get my drift)
As I said here the day after the election, he is no use if you really are a constituent with a problem.
I suppose being thrown out of Egypt stops him inflaming the business here.

"Guys

That's right. These Islamist groups in Britain are among the worst within the western democracies. Abu Hamza are others are suspected of recruiting terrorists and in plotting attacks, including in the initial planning of 9/11 (see link below). These people aren't just cheerleaders and 'motivational speakers.'

Once I had finished my letter, and re-read it, I realised that the particular points I was making were about the policing of the event, and the offences that occured were probably best addressed to the Home Secretary who has responsibility for the Police and the Crown Prosecution Service. So I also sent it to Charles Clark at the Home Office, also c/o THe House of Commons.

Thank you x_achillesheel_x ! You are sweet.
This site is great and I thank all of you who send posts, Granny, JSLA, Archimedes etc. I love what you write and I think Granny is funny when she is not desperate (British humour ?)
Hope one day, when I am in the US, I will be able to meet some of you.
I am ready to die for freedom as I want to be able to look at myself in the mirror (in the bathroom of Paradise, I guess). But not yet, as I am only 30 ! I need more years to laugh at our friends the Muslims, as we must admit it: they might scare us but they also make us laugh ! He he he... Their sense of Grotesque.
Do you remember the Stoicians ? Epictete (English spelling ??) was a slave and he said to his Master: "you can make me suffer, you can break my leg, but then what ? You will never prevent me from thinking what I want".
Merci à tous XXX.

Hi son of walker,
I'm intrigued by your description of the blue scarf movement. A counter movement of large numbers of Westerners united against jihad, and willing to show this publicly, is exactly what I think is needed.
And it appears you are in Canada. I for one am located in southern Ontario. Any Canadians here from southern Ontario interested in a similar blue scarf campaign?

If you really want to mount an effective counter demonstration, burning a flag of a mohammadan
country is unnecessary. Burn their 'constitution'.
You know, starts with a 'K', ends with 'ORAN'.
at February 4, 2006 4:38 PM
American
I mentioned that as well. (Only that I spelt it the way Robert does. Somehow, I tend to randomly substitute 'Q's for 'K's when describing things Islamic. I've even done it for Quwait, but not for the Ka'aba.)
It isn't an either-or. Do both, and others as well (such as effigies of Mohammed). It could even substitute for barbeque fires and home heating fuel, thereby reducing our addiction on Middle-Eastern oil, or what I prefer calling Islamic oil. (Only downside is that this wouldn't be as public.)
