A small reminder that the jihad against America did not begin on September 11, 2001. From AP, with thanks to all who sent this in:
SAN'A, Yemen - An al-Qaida operative sentenced to death for plotting the USS Cole bombing that killed 17 sailors in 2000 was among a group of convicts who escaped from a Yemen prison last week, Interpol said Sunday in issuing a global security alert....Yemeni officials said Jamal al-Badawi — a man convicted of plotting, preparing and helping carry out the Cole bombing — was among the fugitives, Interpol said. Al-Badawi was among those sentenced to death in September 2004 for plotting the attack, in which two suicide bombers blew up an explosives-laden boat next to the destroyer as it refueled in the Yemeni port of Aden on Oct. 12, 2000.
A Yemeni security official announced the escape of convicted al-Qaida members Friday but did not provide any details or names. The official said only that the escapees had all had been sentenced last year on terrorism-related charges.
Interpol said in a statement that at least 13 of the 23 escapees were convicted al-Qaida fighters.

If they are ever recaptured the US should demand custody of them, or put in an effort to capture the escapees themselves.

Jade:
Civilized nations unfortunately putup with the practice of arresting these scumbags and affording them legal protections. (And we can't even waqterboard them to obtain information... I don't condone torture but sleep deprivation, water boarding etc seems acceptable practice IMHO).
Killing these turds on the battlefield is the best way out methinks. I hear the otherwise civilized Indian army adopts these tactics in their fight against jihadis in kashmir. Especially after New Delhi caved in and released hardcore jihadis in exchange for hostages on a hijacked airliner in 1999.

And this is a complete repeat of April 2003 when TEN Cole terrorists walked out of a Yemeni Jail...
I think I heard Ms. Rice refer to Yemen as a "helpful ally" in the War on Terror --
Like the cartoon at SonofWalker's link says... "With friends like these, who needs enemies?"

The revolving doors of the Islamic Jihad nations. Remember Arafat? He used to 'challenge' the western media-types to come 'tomorrow' so he would show them the 'jailed terrorists'...
Tomorrow never came...
Hopefully the US can find out the whereabouts of these Jihad-freaks and 'fix them' with a hellfire missile...
And then, what do you get?

It makes one wonder if Yemen makes any distinction between minimum and maximum security, or if prison is prison; what they do have, at any rate, is probably old and crowded.
But still, the average Westerner would be inclined to imagine a Middle Eastern prison as no Holiday Inn of human rights, and thus, the kind of place that the Yemenis, in this case, could keep people from seeing the light of day, let alone escaping, if they wanted to.
But the fact that lightning has struck twice with escapes by terrorists from the Cole attack points to an inside job by sympathetic Yemenis, rather than the standard bumbling of a third-world operation.
The US should demand some say in the conditions of the detention; better yet, if al-Badawi is caught alive, he should serve out his time on Diego García, an island used as a base by the US and UK militaries.
As a military prisoner in the middle of the Indian Ocean, his new digs would be like Alcatraz on steroids.

ANKARA, Turkey -- A teenage boy shot and killed the Italian Roman Catholic priest of a church in the Black Sea port city of Trabzon on Sunday, shouting "God is great" as he escaped, according to police and witnesses.

And just how many sane people believe that these convicted murderers escaped on their own?????
Why weren't they already executed?????
Just how close an ally is Yemen?????
If you believe that everything all Muslims say is an lie, you will never be surprised when you discover that they have lied about everything except their intent to conquer the world and murder all non-Muslims that will not convert as the Koran dictates for them to.

It is better to fight and die to stay free than to ever live under Islam.

Mr. Spencer-
Shouldn't the word "Escapes" in the headline be in quotes?
From what has been reported on the radio, a tunnel was dug from an adjoining mosque into the "prison" (a word which, in any Muslim country generally sympathetic to the Global Jihad, like Yemen, should also be in quotes).
The "trials" are farces, the "imprisonments" a joke. It is like the ludicrous "judgments" against white racists who killed blacks in the American South in the 1960's: either no convictions at all, or the "criminals'" wrists are slapped, -then they get out on technicalities, shortly, after mild sentences.
The farce of Islamic "justice" rolls on.
Like letting the Mafia sentence their own "mechanics". To house arrest. In Sicily. With NO olive oil for a year!

Terrorists seem to "escape" all the time from ME jails which is why I'm sure most want out of Gitmo and to be returned to the custody of whatever ME hellhole they came from.
These latest "escapees" were either released by the Yemeni government or by Muslims in the employ of the prisons who are sympathetic to the global Jihad.I doubt anyone in the US government is fooled, I know I'm not.

I heard that too. The only question is which direction the tunnel was dug, from the mosque or from the prison. Either way, you'd think the vast majority of "moderate" Muslims who attend the mosque would have noticed the prisoners' tunnel and alerted the authorities. Or at least you'd think that if you thought that the vast majority of Muslims were "moderates".
Yet another success story from our allies in the "global war on terror".

I normally avoid the Liberal-Conservative baits here, but chalk this one up to our "real patriots" from the ACLU, John McCain & Dick(head)Durban, et al. By insisting that our troops cannot "torture" enemy combatants, and by forcing US forces to give them the same rights as Martha Stewart, they've forced the Army to ship these prisoners to countries like Yemen, Syria, Egypt, et al.
Thank you, Senator McCain. Be sure to mention it in your McCain 2008 presidential campaign. Hope it wins you the CAIR endorsement.

I don't have much confidence in the Yemen justice system. It is biased, heavily slanted towards Islam, and corrupt.

But Jamal al-Badawi was captured in Yemen, so rendition was never involved. And U.S. laws on torture are also irrelevant to his case. For all we know, the Yemenese police tortured the h*ll out of him. I doubt it though, they probably sat around laughing at the police station, maybe they asked him to autograph their poster of Bin Laden.
Our Administration may very well use the logic of "a terrorist escaped from a Yemeni prison, therefore we must allow torture in the U.S.", it makes as much sense as "Al Qaeda terrorists from Saudi Arabia attacked us on 9/11 and Iran is building nuclear weapons, therefore we must attack Iraq".

Breaking News!
An Afghan has been killed at a rally against cartoons satirising the Prophet Muhammad, thought to be the first death in more than a week of protests.
Police in the eastern city of Mihtarlam fired on demonstrators after a man in the crowd shot at them during the rally, a government spokesman said.
The death follows protests by Muslims around the world, and attacks against Danish embassies in Syria and Lebanon.
The cartoons were first published in a Danish newspaper

If you haven't seen them already, check these cartoons out... the Danish cartoons are mild by comparison:)

Remember when Pablo Escobar of the Cali Drug Cartel walked out the the "prison" in Columbia. (if you call having a wing in the prison to yourself with all the amenities, a private chef, and equiped with all that was necessary to the cartel business). This tunnel deal was probably nothing more than a ruse, I would doubt that the "tunnel" was actually used. This "Great Escape" was probably accomplished with some bribes and the use of the front door. Given the state of affairs in Yemen, maybe, it only took $2 a head.

The tunnel al-Badawi and the others escaped in went from the jail into a mosque. Geez, what luck, huh? Or did the tunnel originate in the mosque and go into the jail? al-Badawi was given the death penalty. Why wasn't it carried out? Why is this murdering pig still alive?

A small reminder that the jihad against America did not begin on September 11, 2001.
When did it begin, Mr. Spencer? Did it begin when Clinton inherited Bush's Somalia quagmire and had the good sense to end it?
Did it begin when we lost 241 US Marines in Beirut? Maybe if the guys that killed the Marines in Lebanon escaped from jail, that would also serve as a reminder.
Oh wait; they didn't go to jail. They were rewarded by Ollie North (R-Traitor) with planeloads of Stinger Missiles instead.
Did it begin when "palestinian" Sirhan Sirhan handed Nixon the presidency back in '68?
Did it begin when the Ayatollah handed Reagan the presidency back in '80? (That would at least explain the willingness to give weaponry to them... thank goodness that the Senate minority filibustered (omigod!) the investigation.)
Well, it is good to know that some things will never, ever change. You can always count on some things.
****************************************
Here's hoping that the "Cartoon Jihad" will finally boil over into the inevitable civilization versus 7th-century barbarism... the sooner the better.

C A R S W A R M !!!
Hahah... been hanging out at LGF to, Sheik?
They "palestinians" carswarm every time the IDF hits a car carrying Jihadis. Because they KNOW that Israel wouldn't DARE hit it again and kill so many "innocent" bystanders. This is yet another example of how the Muslims play our humanity against us.
Maybe one day Israel will give them a little surprise... it is laughable to imagine any non-Muslim people trying this tactic on any Muslim force. They'd be blown to smithereens as soon as a crowd formed around the car and the pilot sent another missile.
The "palestinians" thought they were pretty damn slick back in the days when they would send in reinforcement fighters, guns, ammo, etc. using "ambulances"...they just KNEW that the civilized Jews would never, ever, prevent them from sending in ambulances.
OOOPS! Wrong again. Eventually Israel had a bellyfull of this treachery and stopped letting them in and "OH THE HUMANITY" the headlines are awash with tales of "Israelis Refuse To Let Ambulances Treat Palestinians, Children Bleed To Death"... in Eurabia and Islamdom, the headlines substitutes the word "Jews" for "Israelis."
Yeah, Sheikh... the CARSWARM phenomenon is funny at first glance, but full of sickening concurrences. Like I said, I hope one day Israel figures out that by showing mercy, they only earn disrespect from their enemies. Nothing they do (short of disappearing) will ever placate their enemies, neither the red-eyed Jihadis nor the Buchannon-Duke-Baker-Norquist conservatives, nor the McKinnon-Moore-Nader-Sheehan liberals.
Hamas leads the government of "palestine", and as soon as they become a nation, it will mean war between Israel and Hamas-stine. And we know who will win. And we know who will attack civilians as much as possible. And we know who will use woman and children as shields and combatants. And we know who will be bolstered by the United Nothing. And we know who will be criticized by the United Nothing.
What some us don't know is how the right-wing is going to side... just a hint: already Islam runs FOX "news."
Let's just wait and see.
There was a joke way back when that a lot of people didn't "get." But I think pretty much everyone here will. It seems to me that it went something like this.
The Hopeful Soviet teaches his kids Russian.
The Pessimistic Soviet teaches his kids German.
The Foolish Soviet teaches his kids ???
The Wise Soviet teaches his kids Chinese.
The Pragamtic Soviet teaches his kids English.
... or something like that. (Does anyone remember exactly how it goes?)
Anyway, it seems to me that
The Hopeful Israeli teaches his kids Hebrew.
The Pessimistic Israeli teaches his kids Arabic.
The Wise Israeli teaches his kids English.
Well I guess it's not that damn funny, but you get my drift. Eventually there's going to an airlift out of Israel, into civilization. And I fear that it's going to make the fall of Saigon look like a day in the park.

Must of been one helluva big "tiny minority" to plan, engineer, finance, and dig a tunnel of that length with such precision.
Maybe that's where those doggoned Unicorns have been hiding, doing tunnel work in Yemen! Those forehead-horns would be perfect for such labor.
