Tiny Minority of Extremists Update from The Telegraph, with thanks to JE:
Britain could be harbouring 20 more foreign radical imams like Abu Hamza, the Government's anti-terrorism watchdog said yesterday.Lord Carlile QC, who carried out an official review of counter-terrorism laws, said radicals such as Hamza had been able to operate because not enough had been done to check the credentials of people arriving from abroad.
Hamza was jailed for seven years last week for inciting murder and preaching hatred.
Lord Carlile, a Liberal Democrat peer, said he feared that other extremists were continuing to radicalise young Muslim men in universities, prisons and young offenders' institutions.
"I would be amazed if there were more than 20 such clerics in the country, but that is a pure guess,'' he said. "My worry is that they are in places such as colleges and custodial institutions where there are larger numbers than elsewhere of impressionable young men.
"A small number can have a disproportionate effect if they are in the wrong place.
"Very little has been done in the past to look in detail at the past history of imams who have gone into some cities."

O/T: Andrew McCarthy (the prosecutor who put away the Blind Sheik) has a good article on NRO today:
http://www.nationalreview.com/mccarthy/mccarthy200602150837.asp
Sorry for the spoiler, but I have to post its ending:
"All of this intellectual and moral confusion — the disintegration of the Bush Doctrine, the compromising of our conception of democracy, the strange deference to charlatans spewing seventh-century venom, the pressure on our government to violate the very laws it enacted to choke off the funding that underwrites our enemies' butchery — all of it is based on a single conceit: That there is a flourishing moderate Islam. One worth looking beyond all the menacing verses and countless atrocities to find.
Okay, where is it?"

I live here and I'm quite sure there's more than 20 of them.

Isn't there a ZERO or two missing from the end of the headline number?
How many mosques are there in Britain?
Take that number, and there's the more apt figure.

Maybe they were only counting the number of dual hook-handed, one-eyed radical imams in the UK.

Unless of course the Brits prove to be complete ninnies - they will have to:
a) Infiltrate suspected mosques
b) Document via video or audio any virulent promotion of unacceptable values by Islamic leaders
c) Target and either imprison or eject from the borders of that nation those leaders
PERIOD!
Take the fight out of them by removing the power of their leaders. Either do this or wait until the next lame reason (stupid cartoons) to promote radicalism springs up.

After jail, then what?
We see world-wide a propensity to have minimal sentences for terrorists convicted of the most heinous crimes, including murder. Sentences of 3 to 7 years are not uncommon in Europe, the US, and in Muslim countries. Only in a hand full of cases have any terrorists been given life sentences, and at least in the West, none have been given death sentences. This guy is a case in point.
What is expected to walk out the door after 3-7 years in a prison environment with other Muslims, reciting the Koran, praying 5 times a day, and listening to cutthroat imans spreading their poison?
Certainly not a reformed, “moderate” Muslim. We will be releasing a killer to again ply his trade, only now with additional potential collaborators he met in prison.
The legal and counter intelligence systems in every country must devise a uniform international system to keep these people corralled. Physically constaining them for life would be the most desirable societal outcome, since electronic constraints can be easily defeated by determined terrorists with their vast support system.
Society must realize that Muslim terrorists cannot ever revert to normal – their brains have been eternally washed with the vile Islamic hate for non-Muslims; there is no hope of overcoming that. They are like pedophiles, they cannot change their mental baggage. They are a permanent danger to the human race. Imprisonment does nothing to change the natural tendency of rattlesnakes, minks, or terrorists. If you let them out they will bite you again, every time.
Secondly, the rules of evidence in all countries need to be drastically minimized when it comes to suspicion of terrorism. The slightest indication of connection in any way with jihad, or sympathy with jihad is all that needs to be proven. Anything else would be icing on the cake.
Thirdly, Western governments must adopt a uniform sentencing procedure requiring life imprisonment for terrorists without possibility of parole.
Places should be set up that are large enough to round up thousands of terrorists for permanent incarceration. Not Devil’s Island type of confinement necessarily; its just that they can never be allowed in open society again. However, no Korans, no Imans, no prayer rugs, and no communication with the outside world. Make it a paradise but without the 72 whores.

Where is the catholic mafia, the IRA, the Japanese Yakusa, the chinese triads?
Surely there's some patriotism amoungst some of them.
Will these lawless groups who can get away with anything stand by and watch the likes of Hamsi and other preachers of death to their countrymen walk out of prison and continue their campaign to take over their country?
If I were a professional hitman, I'd be doing my country a free favour.
