Well, sure, ok, Al-Qaeda has infiltrated their government, but not to worry: Americans will still be in charge of port security. And I expect they'll be quite busy once our friends and allies from Dubai take over port operations. "Qaeda Claim: We 'Infiltrated' UAE Gov't," from the New York Post, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:
February 25, 2006 -- WASHINGTON — Al Qaeda warned the government of the United Arab Emirates more than three years ago that it "infiltrated" key government agencies, according to a disturbing document released by the U.S. military. The warning was contained in a June 2002 message to UAE rulers, in which the terror network demanded the release of an unknown number of "mujahedeen detainees," who it said had been arrested during a government crackdown in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks....
Little is known about the origins or authorship of the message.
"You are well aware that we have infiltrated your security, censorship and monetary agencies, along with other agencies that should not be mentioned," the message said.
"Therefore, we warn of the continuation of practicing . . . policies which do not serve your interest and will only cost you many problems that will place you in an embarrassing state before your citizens.
"Your homeland is exposed to us. There are many vital interests that will hurt you if we decided to harm them."

"Qaeda Claim: We 'Infiltrated' UAE Gov't,"
...and some of you folks who are reasonable, intellegent, and in fact patriotic (while I don't always see things your way) -- are beginning to rethink this port deal with the idea that your fears are not well grounded?
Tell you what, if this deal goes down -- and I believe it will -- I am not kidding about the renewed strategic plan of relocating elsewhere that are on the minds of some very respected business.
What choice are we left with?
Look, if the people running the US government don't believe in protecting American interests -- by that I mean -- the interests of the American people, medium and small business, not just the international globalists, -- then frankly I for one am too small to take a chance on the major risks posed by this venture.
And we are not even including the almost daily acts of war from Mexico -- what do you call the recurring and uninvited intrusions of their military into our country? No one in D.C. seems concerned or cares; in past generations they would have declared war for less than this!
We have worked too hard to provide jobs for people and build things up just to see it all thrown away because George wants to foolishly pander to his globalist cronies in the UAE who are probably going to have him (like duh, duh, duh, Dole) on their payroll in one way or another, after he leaves office.
I don't know if there is some kind of nuclear blackmail going on behind the scenes here or what, but what I can reasonably conclude from what I do see is this -- this deal is NOT in the best interests of this country (hey man, I'm sorry that Hillary is against the deal too; probably for reasons different than mine, but nevertheless and lot of people who do not support her see danger here).
Finally, the argument goes that port deal doesn't matter because after all countries like China have been given similar control over Panama's shipping -- "nuttin happened;" COSCO which is owned by their military can be seen everywhere in the US with their cargo containers -- "nuttin happened;" a foreign company controlled these ports before and "nuttin happened."
All I can say is that this was the same reasoning the FBI probably used when they were told that Atta and his ilk were going to flight schools before 911 -- so they want to taking flying lessons; what the heck, so far "nuttin happened."
Just go back to the sports channels and watch the game and "keep yer eye on duh ball" -- nuttin happened.
Time to move on.

Letting the Chinese take over the Panama Canal will one day come back to haunt us. Letting the UAE take over our ports is also a disaster in the making, of course we can always take the ports back, or nationalize them which is what is going to happen anyway probably about the same time that we finally default on our massive debt obligations, the dollar collapses, and the Chinese decide the time is ripe to take Tawain because the US is overextended militarily and financially in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran. It's not a pretty picture. Hoepfully, exploding nuclear devices in one or more ports won't take place first.
