"'Terror threat' hits NMSU," from the Las Cruces Sun-News, with thanks to Dr. A:
What the FBI called "a possible terrorist threat" forced the evacuation Thursday of most of New Mexico State University during midterm examinations.A similar call to the Sun-News also led to an evacuation of workers and a lockdown of nearby Central Elementary School.
No explosives were found in either location.
A man with an Arab accent called the NMSU president's office and the newspaper about 8 a.m. and said a bomb was going to explode on campus. The caller to the Sun-News also made a threat against the newspaper.
The FBI is heading the investigation because the caller to the Sun-News said "they were going to blow (the university) up as high as the heavens, so people will know that al-Qaida lives on," according to a Sun-News receptionist who took the call.
The caller to the president's office said the bomb would explode at 9:30 a.m. "in honor of" something, but the man spoke rapidly and his words were unintelligible, NMSU attorney Bruce Kite said.

Jihad...the cowardly way. Real men stand firm. Muslims call in and run.

Unfortunately, it's not unheard of for bomb threats to coincide with major exams.
I've heard of it happening in the past at other universities, but I guess the callers are generally not creative enough to make the national news like this guy, who clearly knew which buttons to push, both by his choice of words, and by calling the local paper as well.
I do hope they can trace the call, and maybe have the FBI give him a cavity search for good measure, along with expelling him from the university, and all appropriate prosecution, fines, deportation, etc.

New Mexico? The "body snatchers" have planted their pods virtually everywhere.
I was reading http://www.bearstrong.net/warblog/index.html
last night and read a post by the resident muslim on the blog who said "they never intend to leave the West, they intend to change the West."
We here at JW/DW don't have to wonder how he intends to change it.

Well, if they don't plan on leaving the west, on their own, maybe it's time for a good ole roundup.
Head 'em up....move 'em out!!!

"We don't have to wonder how he intends to change it"
Oh - by being the 'picture of love and peace' - is there any other way?

Watch for a rash of bomb threats from muslims and other trouble makers...The problem with threats, is you can never tell if they are real. So safety concern measures must always be taken.
At one time I was a security officer for a major discount junk store. There were several bomb threats while I was there. Most were of the 'put $10,000 in a phone booth across town in ten minutes, or we will blow the place up', variety.
The place was evacuated of employees and customers and I got the honor of searching the building for a bomb...sometimes I wonder how I manage to get myself into this kind of stuff...scary...look but no find, boy am I lucky.
The point of the story is that bomb threats, or actualities, are terror tactics, designed to get money or other advantage. In this case propaganda 'Al-Qaida lives on', as the man with the Arab accent said...there will be more of this...

If it was a real threat, it could have been a test run to see where people went while evaculating, how fast the evacution happened so that when the real thing happens they can set up secondary explosions to get the evacuees also....like they do all the time in Israel and and other places.

The NMSU story isn't as far off the mark as it could be, but there are several things I would like to clarify:
1. Only a small, central section of NMSU was evacuated, not the whole campus. Not even most of the campus as the Sun-New claims.
2. No NMSU employee in any capacity has to my knowledge mentioned anything about the caller having an Arabic accent in any campus communications. None of the scuttlebutt on campus, and there is a lot of it, mentioned anything about an Arabic accent. I have not yet verified with Kite's office whether he actually said what was reported in the Sun-News. The lack of quotes makes me suspicious.
3. The prevailing view on my branch of the campus grapevine is that this was a disgruntled library employee or student. There are some exams taking place and Spring Break begins March 20.
I am a staff member who works at NMSU, only 100 yards or so from one of the library buildings, and I was here yesterday when the incident happened.
I'm not posting using my work email address because I haven't familiarized myself with the recent campus policy changes with regard to this sort of thing and want to avoid the well-known drama associated with violating campus policies at universities everywhere.

Hey Mark,
Looks like you have an Islamic Center
http://islamicvalley.com/prod/entityView.php/t/0BK/i/2DI
and an Al Hudna school:
http://islamicvalley.com/prod/entityView.php/t/0BK/i/2DI
The Islamic school is a Weekend program specially designed to instill the Islamic behaviors and manners in our youth while teaching them the basics of Islam. The Islamic School is located in the building of the Islamic Center of Las Cruces.
What we teach:
The Quran and Sunnah are the fundamental essences of Islam. They represent who we are and what we believe in. They govern the way we live and interact with each other. The Islamic school of ICOLC aims to present Islam and it's concepts by teaching our kids the Quran and Sunnah of Muhammad (PBUH).
Kids enrolled in the Islamic school will be reciting, understanding, and memorizing the Quran. They will also learn about the life of the prophet Muhammad and all those prophets before him.
Through such a program, The Islamic Center aims to help children become proud, practicing Muslims.
(This needs a good investigative look see)

That would be "Al-Huda" school... "Hudna" would be too forthright, though funny-- just laying low 'til they've got the manpower to take over.
