Afghan Christian Given Asylum in Italy

Abdul Rahman has arrived in Rome. Let's hope that he will be safe there. From AP, with thanks to all who sent this in:

ROME — The Afghan man who faced the death penalty for converting from Islam to Christianity received asylum in Italy Wednesday, despite requests by lawmakers in Afghanistan that he be barred from fleeing the conservative Muslim country.

Abdul Rahman arrived in Rome days after he was freed from a high-security prison on the outskirts of Kabul after a court dropped charges of apostasy against him for lack of evidence and suspected mental illness....

Rahman was in the care of Italy's Interior Ministry, Premier Silvio Berlusconi said Wednesday evening. "He is already in Italy," he said. "I think he arrived overnight."

The premier declined to release more details. The Interior Ministry said Rahman was "under protection."

Hope he has a great life in Rome and starts telling the masses how "Unpeaceful" the Islam religion is since his new found freedom has thrust him into stardom. Hopefully the Sharia hit squads will be kept from assasinating the Christian.

Karzi and the apostate-headhunting Afghans should be hounded by the Main Stream Press from the West to answer the skirted question:

-Why wasn't this former Muslim convert to Christianity killed?

If, according to Sharia Law, anyone who leaves Islam is condemned to death?

Please explain it to us.

Before the next victim of your faith arises to face the same murderous dogma.

Let's get it clear, now.

Are you with us, or against us?

Afghan apostate flees from Afghanistan to Italy. Orianna Fallaci flees from Italy to the US.

We need to complete the loop. Get Ibrahim Hooper and his thugs on the next flight from US to Afghanistan. Let them preach to the Afghans. They can either endorse the death sentence, in which case they can feel completely at home, or if they do criticize it, they can explain to their new countrymen that they are just practicing taqqiya.

CAIR. Deport them now.

Pray not just for his physical safety but for the new life he must build, rejected by his wife and daughters.
I cannot imagine rejecting and betraying my own father. I cannot imagine the sprogface rejecting and betraying my husband.

Time Magazine's correspondent from Kabul, Rachel Morarjee, tries to paint of different, less savory, picture of Abdul Rahman. In an article, Abdul Rahman's Family Values, Ms. Morarjee wants us to know that the official police report on Mr. Rahman alleges a tawdry domestic life. Also note the gratuitous reference to the Christian right.

[Abdul Rahman] has become the poster boy for the Christian right and for religious freedom. Closer up, however, the picture painted by the local police who arrested him shows a candidate not quite ready for family values. Rather, a portrait emerges of a deadbeat dad with psychological problems who couldn't hold down a job, abused his daughters and parents and didn't pay child support.

Abusing his daughters, I was reay for an expose of violent physical or sexual abuse. SoO let's read further to find out why Mr. Rahman is such a monster of a man who doesn't provide for his family and makes everyone fear his abusive nature.

Both his daughters mentioned that he had converted to Christianity and abandoned the religion of Islam but also described him as "jobless, lazy and cruel." His 14-year-old daughter Maria said that when her father returned to Afghanistan three years ago after spending many years in Germany and Pakistan he was a stranger to her. "He said he was my father but he hasn't behaved like a father since he came back to Afghanistan. He threatens us and we are all afraid of him and he doesn't believe in the religion of Islam," her statement said.

Abdul Rahman's parents did not appear to help his cause. A statement by his mother Ghul Begum reads: "We brought up his children and for eight years he didn't come home. Because he has converted from Islam to another religion we don't want him in our house." His father Abdul Manan's statement says, "(Abdul Rahman) wanted to change the ethics of my children and family. He is not going in the right direction. I have thrown him out of my house." Abdul Rahman's own statement does not dispute his financial straits. "Since I am jobless my family is with my children. I had economic problems with my familiy and my father has many complaints about me. He has warned me if I don't become a Muslim, I will be driven away from the house."

So we are now to believe that Mr. Rahman is cruel to his famiily and doesn't support them. What is the act most cruel that makes his daughters fear him? Because he has brought, horror of horrors, Christianity into their home. How can he support his family when his own parents kicked him out, took his children and said he was no longer welcome around them all because he embraced Christianity?

Islam is thicker than blood, I will not bother to quote the koran passage that says to shun even your closest family if they choose a path other than islam.

Ms. Morarjee, who is being cruel to whom?

l would like to send Ms Morajee to Afganistand, and see if would rather live with Christians or Muslims.
there is so much dishonesty towards Christians in the West, and they give a blind eye to the atrocities committed by muslims! you know we do not need the Times to tell us the real story! screw them!

Yes, Mr. Rahman's daughters have rejected him and they will be rewarded with lives full of the promises of Islam: underage marriage, oppression, not thinking for themselves, honor killings, rape and beatings if they get out of line, living their lives behind closed doors, only going out if a male relative gives them permission, covering from head to toe, never expressing their God given talents and beauty.

One wonders what Mr. Rahman's daughter's definition of "cruel" could be.

thank god for Italy. IN canada the National post had an article yesterday asking who will save the Christians in Iraq. Its about time someone asked this question. Its too late but at least someone is asking. It mentions how most of them cant immigrate out and the US has its borders closed to them. sometimes I think Bush is an anti Christian jihadist.

"Narrated Abdullah: Allah's Messenger said, "The blood of a Muslim who confesses that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that I am His Messenger, cannot be shed except in three cases: Qisas (equality in punishment) for murder, a married person who commits illegal sexual intercourse and the one who reverts from Islam (Apostate) and leaves the Muslims." (Sahih Bukhari 9.17).

"There is no compulsion in religion," many Muslims in the West like to tell us, quoting Surah 2:256. However, what Muslims don't tell us is that this verse is a Meccan verse, a verse that was supposedly revealed in the days when Muhammad was in Mecca, and Muslims a minority. But this verse becomes "abrograted" by other later Medinan verses, when he ruled over Medina and later much of Arabia. That was where the Shar'ia became more developed as the days go by.

The hadith quoted clearly sets the example for Muslims to follow : "whoever changes his religion, kill him."

The 4 mains Sunni schools are the Shiites are unanimous in their opinions on this penalty for apostasy.

This man's mental state and behavior toward his parents and children and theirs toward him are irrelevant.

The point is that in an Islamic culture conversion is punishable by death. If you are born Moslem, you stay Moslem or die.

All the freedoms of personal expression and thought that we take for granted, which have evolved in the West are controlled by a strict adherence to Sha'aria law.

Supposedly there is a high conversion rate to Islam. Can anyone explain that, especially when the converts are women?
