Pakistan to retain jihad in school curriculum

Our friend and ally continues to play its double game, and to ensure that there will be plenty of people ready to heed calls like this. From the Indo-Asian News Service, with thanks to all who sent this in:

While aiming to provide quality education, the new education policy to be implemented in Pakistan next year will retain the subject of jihad in the school curriculum, a senior minister has said.

The government was using all available resources to promote quality education and had started working on the education reforms, Education Minister Javed Ashraf Qazi told reporters.

He said the subject of human rights would be included in the syllabus and the government had no plan to omit the subject of jihad from the Islamiat (moral studies).

"We will teach Islamiat from class one to twelve," Pakistan Today quoted Qazi as saying.

In class 12, have a lab course on Jihad for points. Send students to join the Taliban, Lashkar-e-Taiba, Hizbul Mujahideen, Jaish-e-Mohammed, or any number of Pakistani Jihad groups in operation. Grade credit according to injuries received i.e. an "A" if the student becomes a shahid.

With some luck, Pakistan's entire population would be above 60.

Naseem,

How about doing some detective work and obtaining a copy of this curriculum and posting it on Jihad Watch. I'm sure it's all about a pious muslim's inner struggle. Please help us understand by posting it.

Carlo Panella had an excellent article about Pakistan in Il Foglio last July, not long after the 7-7 bombings in London. I don't always agree with Panella but this article was a gem. He didn't forget to point to British responsibility for helping to set up Pakistan.

. . . for helping to set up Pakistan and to foster it and keep it going.

Its their ABC.

What else have they got?

You can't just expect them to become civilized over night!?

This is a much underestimated problem. I had posted a few links about this in another tread. http://www.jihadwatch.org/archives/010710.php#comments

And as I just remarked, searching for threads on textbooks turns up many results.

Many think that it is only the Madrassas that have an Islamist education. This is unfortunately not so in Pakistan.

Even in India, the situation is bad. In Pakistan Jihad is glorified, in India its record is negated. In India, the guidelines for schoolbooks have stated things like this: "Characterization of the medieval period as a time of conflict between Hindus and Muslims is forbidden." "Muslim rule should never attract any criticism. Destruction of temples by Muslim rulers and invaders should not be mentioned."

Imagine the standardized tests... the Jihad Aptitude Test (JAT), perhaps:

"Our son blew up the garage again last night; he's cramming for his JAT's."

A perfect score is, of course, fatal, and the scantron forms still prefer a #2 pencil to powder burns... A few details to work out as they move forward.

To William The Crusader ("How about doing some detective work and obtaining a copy of this curriculum and posting it on Jihad Watch.")

Some excerpts of the curriculum and schoolbook guidelines can be found on the Internet.

This is a 154 pages study done by experts about the Curriculum (pdf-format): http://www.sdpi.org/whats_new/reporton/State%20of%20Curr&TextBooks.pdf

And these are comments on the study: http://www.sdpi.org/help/research_and_news_bulletin/nbjanfeb04/articles/text%20only/text%20only.htm
http://www.countercurrents.org/ipk-sarwar030404.htm

Then there are studies by (for example) Y. Rosser, Pervez Hoodbhoy and the book "The Murder of History" by K.K.Aziz.

benetton,

the problem with India is that education system is completely comtrolled by the government and it is the government appointed "scholars" who write the history. Inevitably leftists governments use this for disseminating their propoganda through the history books.

"We will teach Islamiat from class one to twelve," Pakistan Today quoted Qazi as saying.

More cannon fodder for Indian guns...

Well in case you didnt know, countercurrents is our classic commie website which peddles in Hindu hatred . In that article for example they compare the historical revisionism in Pakistan to alleged "saffronisation" in India!

What's the fuss? Were McGuffey's Readers any different?

Many thanks for the link. Absolutely fascinating read. And it sure explains alot. I'm afraid that unless they change this curriculm, the land of the pure should be renamed the land of the dammed, for that is the only place they are headed.

It's all that they've ever had. How else do you explain the fact that no other "benefit" to humanity has risen from the advent of islam, besides the forced submission of otherwise whole, civilized, and sane human beings? Islam is a disease. Islam is a soul-destroying, mind-sucking disease.

To William,

jihad as a form of inner struggle is basically a smoke-screen. All you need to do is go to the hadiths, the second source of Islamic jurisprudence, and you can see for yourselves the context of each time jihad is mentioned. For man, it has always been about fighting.

Some Muslims try to foist on unsuspecting non-Muslims about the hadith that there was once Muhammad returned from fighting, and saying that he had returned from the Lesser Jihad to the Greater Jihad. What they don't tell you is that this hadith is suspicious and not considered reliable by Muslim scholars. Why?

1. It was not a widespread hadith.
2. It had a known liar in the chain or narrators.
3. It goes against the vein of all the other hadiths dealing with jihad.

But yet, the Muslims continue to use them in their dialog with non-Muslims. If Muslim scholars do not accept them as authentic, why non-Muslims?

Since Pakistan is one of the more progressive muslim countries in the Middle East, one can't help but wonder what the OTHER muslim countries are teaching their young. This might shed some light on the true extent of the problem.

To me this sounds like they brainwash the children to be the jihadists of tomorrow. Isn't this what evil cults do?

The children in Islamic countries get more hours of Islam than all subjects put together.

They create their Islamic State - which looks like religious communism to the onlooker.

If you happen to walk by a regular school even the smallest children are reciting the Koran. Koran is school for most – except if they are rich enough to send their children to a private school run by the Americans or some other foreigner.

Along with ‘Islamic Math’, I suppose a healthy dose of 'kill the Jews' and all our problems stem from Jews and the Infidel Crusaders and Colonialists - will be thrown into the curriculum too.

Economic-wise, this simply means that they will be dependant on our technology for some years to come.

"The children in Islamic countries get more hours of Islam than all subjects put together."

Such children must live absolutely humorless, miserable lives. No wonder they are in such a hurry to blow themselves up when they are grown.

The morning chant in Pakistan:

J is for Jews, who must die in a wreck.
I is for Infidels, we'll bury them next.
H is for Happy, when Islam is King!
A is for Apostates, who we kill as we sing:
D is for Death, that we love above all things.

Then an hour of narcoleptic bowing.

And off to burn down a McDonald's for lunch.
