"Grenade explosion damages auto-rickshaw in Kathankudy," from TamilNet, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:
An auto-rickshaw belonging to a muslim civilian in Kathankudy in Batticaloa was damaged when unknown assailants exploded a grenade under the vehicle at 4.45 a.m., Thursday, sources from Batticaloa said....There have been reports of internal violence in Muslim community in the east in the recent months. The existence of two Muslim armed groups, Jihad and Jama'ath e Islami, in the East has been exposed in recent reports.

This is new. Until now, the Muslims in SL had actually been the peaceful ones, with the Tamils and Sinhalese being the combatants.
So would the Jihad be against the ruling Sinhalese, or the Tamils who run Batticaloa? Hope it's both - if nothing else unites Sinhalese and Tamils, hope this can.

Infidel Pride,
The Tamils (Hindus, from Southern India) and the Sinhalese (Buddhists, originally and earlier from Northern India) have been warring for many years past, maybe the Moslems felt ignored?
Do you know the ethnicity of the Sri Lankan Moslems? I would like to know where they do their recruiting, ie., is it from the Bhuddist or Hindu populations.
I think the Moslems are a small percentage of the population in Sri Lanka, and probably tend to keep quiet as their neighbours aren't that fussed about political correct responses to provocation.

This has been long time coming. Around 800 years ago Muslim Arab maurauders invaded the Maldives and Sri Lanka. The Maldives was totally "converted".
In Sri Lanka the arrival of the Portuguese and other Europeans halted the the spread of the disease. Now strong jihadist element fueled by the petro-dollar from the Middle East and of recently from Malaysia has risen up under cover of the civil war in this strife torn island.
The people are already suffering a civil war along ethnic lines.
Unless growth of this jihad element is halted and reversed, the island will suffer the extra strife and violence by the pressure of another religion out to destroy the other religions of this beautiful island.

I have a feeling that most of Sri Lankan Muslims are Tamils, havent been able to find a source though (actually i'd read about them in Gerg Roberts "Shantaram" )

muslims must be blaming the Tamils and Indians of working for Jews for their jihads against them!
what is this a religion of peace doing all this killing in a non muslim land? l think the Tamils and Indians need to unite and drive the muslims hordes off their shores pronto!

Lulu Indians are not an homogenous ethnicity. Technically Tamils are included under term "India", Sindhalese though Indo-Aryan are not considered as Indians. I think you meant "Tamils and Sinhalese".

Turn over two rocks in any Muslim country, and you find SCHISM.
Let the sects dissect!

Thanks Maldavian. You must have a hard time finding a ham sandwich on the Maldives.

Muslims of Sri Lanka used to be from the Tamil and Malay community. However, the Islamists are making headway into converting the Singhalese Buddhists to Islam. The island has been torn by strife along ethnic lines between the Singhalese Buddhists and Tamils (Hindhu, Christian and Muslim).
Getting a ham sandwich is impossible for the average Maldivian. But if you belong to the elite business group that runs the country, its all available!!! Pork is imported under special permits to feed to the rich European tourist whose money keeps the brutal islamist regime of Abdel Gayoom in power.

Is there ANY place on earth where the muslims have NOT yet gone with their religion of peace?
Oh, wait, let's keep it a secret, if someone does come up with it.

"Is there ANY place on earth where the muslims have NOT yet gone with their religion of peace?"
Shhh, don't tell anyone, but I think the Antartic is still a Moslem-free zone (unless the penguins have "reverted").

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad: Trinidad's Muslim leader, 64-year-old Imam Yasin Abu Bakr, has been committed to stand trial for terrorism.
The Imam's lawyers on Thursday failed to convince Port of Spain Magistrate, Sherman McNicolls, that Barkr should not face a grand jury.
The Muslim leader who lived at La Puerta Avenue, Diego Martin west Port of Spain is the first person in the country's history to be charged under its anti-terrorism law.
It is alleged that at his Mucurapo Mosque during an Eid-ul-Fitr sermon on November 4 last year, Bakr threatened to use violence against the Muslim community in Trinidad, saying there will be a war a if rich Muslims did not pay zakaat (a religious tax), which is required by all Muslims and said to be one of the five pillars of Islam – a tax collected to help the poor.
The radical leader was arrested shortly after by the Trinidad police. He has since been held for using seditious language with intent to use terror, inciting larceny among his membership and had been deemed a definite threat to the country's peace and national security.
The Imam is also to face other charges. Conspiracy to murder two expelled members of his Jamaat, Salim Rasheed and Zaki Aubaidah, for which he has secured a re-trial date (to be announced). He also faces charges for illegal possession of a firearm, ammunition and grenade found at his St. James Murcarop road compound following a raid last year by a special combined unit of army and police officers.
Barkr was also the leader of a failed coup attempt in 1990 in Trinidad. He, together 113 others of his organization, stormed the country's Parliament and held the then Prime Minister, Arthur NR Robinson and other government ministers hostage at gun point for several days. Robinson was also shot and wounded. At least one government minister died during the insurrection.
The drama ended days after when an amnesty was signed absolving all 114 insurrectionists from any prosecution.
Imam Yasin Abu Bakr goes on trial at the next sitting of the Assizes in a Port of Spain High Court. If convicted he could face a life sentence.
