In fact, while Islamic govts ruled Israel, the Jews were humiliated and exploited subjects as dhimmis [a class which also included native Christians]. So if there is a parallel between the situations in the Land of Israel and in the Old South of the USA, then the Jews [and to a lesser extent, native Christians] were in an inferior position to the Muslim/Arabs throughout the centuries, and hence were in a situation comparable to that of the Blacks in the US while jimcrow laws prevailed.
