Caroline Glick in the Jerusalem Post (thanks to all who sent this in) assesses the distressing indications that Russia is joining in wrong side in the defense against the global jihad:
On Monday, Russia's Novaya Gazeta newspaper reported that part of Ukraine's Soviet-era nuclear arsenal may well have found its way to Iran. With the breakup of the Soviet Union, the Ukrainians agreed to transfer the Soviet nuclear arsenal that remained in Ukraine after its independence to Russia. According to Novaya Gazeta, some 250 nuclear warheads never made it to Russia and are thought to have been sent to Iran instead. The report further noted that the warheads will remain operational until 2010.Responding to the report, Gen. Yuri Baluyevsky, Russia's deputy defense minister and the chief of General Staff, said, "Russia's General Staff has no information about whether Ukraine has given 250 nuclear warheads to Iran or not."
It is impossible to assess the accuracy of the report. The Ukrainian government has dismissed its allegations. Russia may well have invented the story to shift media attention away from the growing awareness that Russian support for Teheran, Damascus and Hamas effectively places it in the enemy camp in the US-led war against global jihad.
Read it all.

You would think the Russians would know better. They appear to have aligned themselves with the Shia. They fight the Sunites in Chechnya with the help of the Shia. Alliance with the Shia gives them some influence and access to oil in Iran, a large ally and a good trading partner for its number one global export, weapons. The Russians probably figure their alliance with the Shia gives Russia a counterweight to the aggressive Sunite Islam in Chechnya and elsewhere. Russia encourages Shia Islam in Russia. Although Islam is a demographic nightmare for Russia much like for most European countries, Russia has nonetheless copied the policies of DeGaulle increasing its national power by aligning with forces in the Moslem world. Russia runs the risk of someday becoming like France. Some claim France has become the Greater Islamic Republic of Algeria. Russia runs the risk of becoming a Greater Islamic Republic itself.

Surprise, surprise.
I had a Communist girlfriend back in the days I thought it made no difference.
After all, Communism was dead..no need to take it seriously.
Yea right.
Man...These embedded Communists better hope that God is more forgiving than me...
I would put them in the depths of hell.
How can people live in a society and plot and scheme for that societies destruction?
The idea of people living in and off a community, and wishing on that community a system of government completely opposite to what the people want and to all that is good, is sickening.

Caroline Glick in the Jerusalem Post
All of these recent developments demonstrate that the members of the Iran-led Islamist axis are actively pursuing and indeed progressing in their quest to encircle Israel and entrap the US. This they accomplish - both separately and together - while Israel and the US insist on doing everything they can to prevent any possibility of effectively meeting the rising threats. There is no doubt that the political leadership of at least one of these states has to snap out of its policy fog immediately. Our enemies have no consideration for our desire to ignore them.
====================
Christians being murdered across islam. Churches being destroyed across islam. Jihads declaring that they will destroy America, Israel and the western civilized nations.
Do not depend on our US federal government to snap out of it policy fog concerning the cult of islam.
250 nukes??? It only takes one nuke going off in wall street, in Washington DC or any other major US city and the stock market will disintegrate, the American economy and the world economy will shut down, there will be no food available in metropolitan areas, utilities will fail, rural areas will establish local marshal law, and the American Patriots will have to fight to remain free just because of the US federal governments PCness. America will survive and rebuild but it will be with great effort and suffering.
The war with islam is inevitable and our US federal government is ignoring all of the signs of war and terror from the cult of islam and Americans will suffer greatly and die in the tens of thousands if not in the tens of millions because of our US federal governments PCness.
Prepare, be armed be ready.
The Texican.
Freedom, the only choice at any cost.

"Russian support for Teheran, Damascus and Hamas effectively places it in the enemy camp in the US-led war against global jihad."
I don't agree with this lady. I think the Russians are playing a clever game of "keeping their friends close and their enemies even closer."
The Russians are well aware of the potential for Islamist terrorism and a nuclear armed Iran is bad news for them. Iran's real enemy in the region is Russia-and Russia has clearly let it be known that she considers the former Soviet Republics to be within her geopolitical sphere.
The Russians have nothing to loose in playing this game. It's smart.

We (the public) do not know if the transfer of nuclear warheads from Russia to Iran ever happened but...it is plausible. The event could account for Iran's strident cocky (even more so than usual)aggressive, attitude. Meld this with the current emphasis on accurate delivery systems by Iran and bingo..you have a scenerio that I was afraid of and articulated in a past post. Iran already has a nuclear capability and they are but waiting for a first strike that is intended to delay their own weapons developement. At that point they claim, perhaps plausibly, that they are only using their own weapons in self defense. We have more breathing room than Israel (they cannot absorb a nuclear first strike) so the ball is, more or less, in their court even though we have pledged support they have a hell of a lot of pressure on them. Would the Iranians risk a massive U.S. response by hitting Israel first? Maybe. Does Bush have the stomach for a fight now? Do we Americans have the stomach for a fight now? I have got a migrain trying to figure out what Americans want besides a full belly and a handfull of DVD's on Friday nite.

My earlier statement about Russia being a thug nation now run by the mafia thru a puppet KGB man is not reassuring. The Russians are never up to anything good.

WHAT IS MORE DISTRUBING
On February 22, 2002, Basmanny Intermunicipal Court of Moscow satisfied the suit from the Chairman of the Krasnodar Territory Court Alexander Chernov
On February 28, 2002, the same Basmanny Intermunicipal Court of Moscow satisfied another pledge against Novaya Gazeta this time from Mezhprombank
"The decisions made over the past week at Basmanny Intermunicipal Court of Moscow to satisfy the USD 1.5 million demands of the plaintiffs against Novaya Gazeta is a convenient way of closing a disturbing newspaper."
Mitrokhin is certain that: "the decisions by Bassmanniy Court are attributable to irritation of the authorities with the emergence in Novaya Gazeta of disagreeable articles.
This seems to indicate that the Russian Dumas are not happy with the Newspaper Novaya Gazeta.
My question is, are they (Novaya Gazeta) reporting the truth ?, and if so, the Russian Government seems to be culpable in trying to cover up the danger.

The presence of nuclear warheads on Iranian soil is very worrying, this is because over the last 15 years they have been developing strategic long range missiles with ranges in excess of 1000km.
The test firing of thie SHAHAB-3 missile is of great concern.
what is even more worrying is who is assisting the Iranians, from an artice in the www.fas.org
http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/iran/missile/shahab-3.htm
Russia, China and North Korea have been instramental in helping Iran develop and mature its offensive based missile systems.
In this blog , many references are made to threats by Imams, Clerics and Middle Eastern Politicians, what I find even more frightening is that they have the technolgy to back it up.
please read the article, and observe the dates referenced in them.
The current stand off between Iran and the Security Council is of great concern.

I was disappointed that Russia seemed to let the school slaughter go without retribution. Now I see that Putin has chosen to be our enemy and align his country with the "dark side." Gog and Magog are not just names in the Bible.

I completely agree. As an aside, Caroline Glick was at one time an advisor to Bibi Netanyahu, when he was PM. If he ever returns to power, she could be in a more prominemt role than a journalist.
That apart, she is one of the few journalists who seems to recognize that the threat is Islam, without necessarily spelling it out in the Jerusalem Post, as that could have its own repercussions from the Israeli Left.

I have heard from another source that this report was disseminated by the Russians as an attack on the Ukraine so quite why Glick has interpreted this as Russia joining the side of the global Islamic Jihad seems strange.
