A Resistance-To-The-Jihad-Is-Racism Update: "Terrorists Recruiting 'White Muslims,'" from AP, with thanks to the Constantinopolitan Irredentist:
SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina - His code name was Maximus, and he held secret meetings in a shabby room at the Banana City Hotel on the outskirts of Sarajevo.Bosnian police put him under surveillance, and in a raid last fall on his apartment on Poligonska Street, authorities seized explosives, a suicide bomber belt and a videotape of masked men begging Allah's forgiveness for what they were about to do.
What they planned, investigators believe, was to blow up a European embassy. But compounding their concern, they say, was the ringleader's background: Maximus turned out to be Mirsad Bektasevic, a 19-year-old Swedish citizen of Serbian origin with ties to a senior al-Qaida operative.
Terrorists have been working to recruit non-Arab sympathizers — so-called "white Muslims" with Western features who theoretically could more easily blend into European cities and execute attacks — according to classified intelligence documents obtained by The Associated Press.
A 252-page confidential report jointly compiled by Croatian and U.S. intelligence on potentially dangerous Islamic groups in Bosnia suggests the recruitment drive may have begun as long as four years ago, when Arab militants ran up against tough post-9/11 security obstacles....
Among the Islamic leaders Bosnian authorities are monitoring closely is Nezim Halilovic, chief mufti of the King Fahd Cultural Center. The mosque, one of dozens being built around Sarajevo with Saudi donations, can accommodate 5,000 people and is part of a $9 million complex that includes a library, a sports hall, restaurants and classrooms for studying Arabic and the Quran.
Its imam has repeatedly has been accused of using his sermons to preach violence in Afghanistan, Chechnya, Israel, Iraq and Kashmir. Nothing like that was heard at one of his recent noon prayer sermons; addressing throngs of heavily bearded men and burqa-clad women, he spoke proudly of "bringing Bosnian Muslims back to Islam."
Here again we see how the mujahedin appeal to Muslims by portraying themselves as the exponents of true Islam. And the peaceful and moderate Muslims of the world have as yet formulated no effective response to this.

Why malign the Serbs? Haven't they suffered enough? This sweetheart was either a Bosnian Serb or a Kosovar. In which case, why not just spell it out? Outside Kosovo and Bosnia, is there a significant presense of Muslims in the rest of Serbia?
As for the main thrust of the story, Bosnia, Kosovo, Albania and Chechnya are major potential recruiting grounds for Western looking Jihadists.
It's high time that the US started requiring visitors visas for EU citizens visiting the US: just being an EU passport holder shouldn't be enough. Or else, we're letting in any number of Jihadists, since we can no longer do religious profiling.

To find out that someone with the name Mirsad is a serb like me is realy enlightening. Actualy, guys from AP probably dont know how to descern who is who in our little s..thole called balcan peninsulla. So the man who probably wish to kill all of serbs first and then all the others of you infidels is still a serb. I wonder what disaster shoud fall on our heads that old fashion clinton like propaganda stop portray us as notorius killers & terrorists every time when they speak about this region. What we serbs do in that ugly '90. was just to take some pay back time for all that half millenia long suffering under islamic yoke. and what are we then: killers, rapists, bullies...Considering what you americans suffer from 9.11., and what measures you take against islam after that, for all they did to us since 1389 defeat on Kosovo we shoud nuke them only if we could.
Many nasty things we done are nothing comparing what islam brings to all small christian nations (like us) since mohammad advent. As someone on your site has posted before: what everything (islam) touches, it ruins

Apart from some obvious Muslim names like Alia, Mirsad, are there ways to tell Slavic Muslim names apart from Serbian names? Like for instance, Bektasevic?

Back at you. Take heart. Many of us didn't buy into the mohammedan sob story from your region during the '90's. Just hearing about jihadis and islamist mercenaries fighting on the Bosnian side told me enough.

If there wer just more americans like you, maybe nor Bosnia nor Kosovo (nor Lebanon, nor asia minor for previous exemple, you name it) would non happen ever. And us and greeks, armenians, assyrians, georgians, kopts, jews, bulgarians and many others would be a far happyer nations.

I just read about this in Eurabia. One of the tactics the Arab Muslims are doing is to Islamicize the Muslims in other countries, mostly with Saudi money. Those Muslims are the "moderates" we (not me, but everyone else), keep hoping will stand up against the jihadists.

Why are "Bosnian authorities" merely "monitoring closely" this "Nezim Hailovic"? Why are they not shutting off the Saudi spigot, closing the mosque based on what is taught there? Or is surreptitious recording of what surely must be the subject of khutbas simply not allowed, even if the survival of the Infidels and their nation-state is at risk?
What a passive, what a timid, response -- "monitoring closely"? Is that what the Western world is doing with these people, as they build their mosques and madrasas and their separate Muslim centers everywhere? "Monitoring closely"?
Waiting for what, exactly?
