It is good to see that the Muslim students themselves have complained. It will be interesting to see how this doth fadge, or, in the modern parlance, how this shakes out. After all, the idea of equating unbelievers as filth is endorsed and propagated by no less an eminence than Ayatollah Sistani. How will these students be able to stand up to the likes of him? Especially since the full article notes the school's close ties with Iran. Sistani's doctrine, as the Al-Hilli text makes clear, was not invented by Sistani. It is traditional Shi'ism. How will these students reject that in a school with such close ties to Iran? And why, by the way, is a school with such close ties to Iran operating freely in a country Iran clearly regards as an enemy? How many National Socialist schools were operating in Britain during World War II?

MUSLIM students training to be imams at a British college with strong Iranian links have complained that they are being taught fundamentalist doctrines which describe nonMuslims as “filth”.The Times has obtained extracts from medieval texts taught to the students in which unbelievers are likened to pigs and dogs. The texts are taught at the Hawza Ilmiyya of London, a religious school, which has a sister institution, the Islamic College for Advanced Studies (ICAS), which offers a degree validated by Middlesex University.
The students, who have asked to remain anonymous, study their religious courses alongside the university-backed BA in Islamic studies. They spend two days a week as religious students and three days on their university course....
The text that has upset some students is the core work in their Introduction to Islamic Law class and was written by Muhaqqiq al-Hilli, a 13thcentury scholar. The Hawza Ilmiyya website states that “the module aims to familiarise the student with the basic rules of Islamic law as structured by al-Hilli”.
Besides likening unbelievers to filth, the al-Hilli text includes a chapter on jihad, setting down the conditions under which Muslims are supposed to fight Jews and Christians.
The text is one of a number of books that some students say they find “disturbing” and “very worrying”. Their spokesman told The Times: “They are being exposed to very literalist interpretations of the Koran. These are interpretations that would not be recognised by 80 or 90 per cent of Muslims, but they are being taught in this school....
80 or 90 percent of Muslims? Really? Then why isn't this overwhelming majority rising up and repudiating Sistani and those who are even less "moderate" than he supposedly is?
Mohammed Saeed Bahmanpour, who teaches in both the Hawza and the ICAS, confirmed that al-Hilli text was used, but denied that it was taught as doctrine. He said that, although the book was a key work in the jurisprudence class, its prescriptions were not taught as law. When he taught from it, he omitted the impurity chapter, he said....

Finally something that makes sense. Wet pig is not halal. After touching a wet pig, you always wash your hands.
I have touched lots of wet pigs and I can tell you, they are not very clean. Never touch a wet pig, and then eat a falafel burger without washing first. I bet most muslims go through their entire lives and never touch a wet pig.
Good for them. It's about time they learned something useful from Islam...

If they're so disturbed by the contents of their course, they should quit. Or demand changes. But they won't. And they'll come out the other end with a BA in Islamic Studies. Ooooh, so impressive! A piece of paper that certifies they are well educated in bigotry, hatred and intolerance. And since it's from a British college, ignorant Westerners will be in awe of their degrees, completely in the dark about what their degree is all about. Next, a PhD!

While I find this stuff appalling I don't see how the Islamic laws about contact with unbelievers is much different from that of many Orthodox Jews toward things that are regarded as unclean.

I believe whenever I hear this kind of Muslim tripe, I am far more offended for my beloved dogs than I am for myself as a woman and a Christian.

For those Sunni Muslims who will try to argue that equating Infidels with shit is only Shiite, confront them with Qur'an 9.28 which specifically and directly equates unbelievers (Kuffar) with Najis ("filth"):
What is this "filth" in Sunni Islam?
According to the Shafi'i school of Sunni Islam:
Filth (Najasah)
"Filth includes the following bodies: (1) dogs and pigs and what comes from them, (2) any liquid exiting the private parts, (3) anything the stomach has digested, (4) vomit, (5) blood and pus, (6) liquid intoxicants, and (7) every part of any dead animal, except the corpses of humans, locusts, aquatic animals, or slaughtered edible animals. Any part separated from a live animal is like its unslaughtered dead, except hair and the like from edible animals.
"All the above are filth in themselves, and if any of them touches a solid that is pure in itself, with moisture between them, the filth is transferred and that solid is filthified.
"If filth touches a volume of liquid, the entire volume is filthified...
"The above applies to removing filth from yourself after using the toilet (istinja’), though you may merely wipe, instead of using water, if you fulfill the conditions of wiping."
According to the Hanafi school of Sunni Islam:
"Examples of the strong najasa [filth] are wine, flowing blood, the flesh of a dead animal and its hide, the urine of those animals whose flesh is unlawful for consumption, the excreta of a dog and of a predatory animal and its saliva, the droppings of a hen, duck or goose and also all those things which come out of a human body and nullify one’s wudu’ [such as flowing blood, semen..., irregular vaginal bleeding..., menses, postnatal blood and a mouthful of vomit... Vomit that is less than a mouthful, or blood that does not flow is considered pure...
"Examples of light najasa are: the urine of a horse, and of those animals whose flesh is lawful
for consumption and the droppings of birds whose flesh is unlawful for consumption."
[I couldn't find examples from the other two schools of Sunni Islam, Hanbali and Maliki.]

zero tolerance... In our local illegal immigration demonstrations there were many public schools that, in reaction to use of the Mexican flag by supporters of illegal immigration, banned all flags. That included the American Flag. Amazing, that a government funded institution could ban the US flag!
But that should be expected, as in reaction to attempts to deal with off-beat religons and muslim headgear, the schools banned all religious items, including jewelry bearing the cross.
It will be interesting to see what will result from the efforts our current educators, will we raise a generation of godless, unpatriotic individuals incapable of making moral distictions and judgements. We will be paralyzed, easy and willing victims. (the term individual is key, as the individual has priority over the collective and moral equivalency gives value to the immoral and niihilist of our society).

I posted the above as a comment on the Al_Arian piece, unaware that I would find the Times article featured when I continued with my daily "fix" of JW. I should have known better than to think JW would have missed it!!
Robert's comments are so apposite and I appreciated the detail given by Television.
However, as I am unqualified to elaborate on the content of the article itself, I wanted to make the point that I found it, not on JW or DW, but in the TIMES! My first reaction was, "Hooray - at last the MSM is speaking up!" My second reaction was, "Yes, but will anyone listen ... and ACT?"

That's been the plan for quite a while, to raise godless, unpatriotic moral relativists steeped in group-think. Today's educators at every level are trained to inculcate multiculturalism, diversity, herd instincts, moral relativity and political correctness. They are also trained to discourage individualism and promote the "collective" mentality; to disparage America and its culture while lauding all other nations and their cultures.
Patriotism is discouraged because it leads to nationalism, which leads to conflict. We can't have little American patriots running around feeling superior to the rest of the world, because America is an imperialist bully and profligate glutton that steals the world's resources. America wantonly, greedily consumes these purloined fossil fuels and is gratuitiously destroying the planet by creating irreversible global warming. America is killing the planet and all of its inhabitants. Why should children be patriotic or try to preserve their hideous culture? These are a few of the lessons our children are learning, and let's not forget the "genocide" of the native Americans.
