This is a positive step, but I would like to see the actual content of the test. Australia and all non-Muslim nations need to set up a test that asks Muslim immigrants such questions as whether they can accept peaceful coexistence as equals with non-Muslims on an indefinite basis, whether they would someday like to see Sharia implemented in the country to which they wish to immigrate, what they think of women working, what they think of wife-beating, and the like. This would focus the attention of immigration officials and applicants on questions of jihad and Sharia, and make clear that the host nations consider such positions unacceptable. If an immigrant were later found to have lied on his application about his positions on such matters, that should be grounds for deportation.
From AAP, with thanks to JE:
A MUSLIM leader has welcomed a Federal Government proposal to introduce compulsory citizenship tests for Australian migrants.Under the proposal by immigration parliamentary secretary Andrew Robb, prospective immigrants would have to take a test to demonstrate their English language skills and knowledge of Australia's values, customs, laws and history.
Muslim leader Mustapha Kara-Ali, a member of the Prime Minister's hand-picked Muslim community reference group, said a basic level of language skills and understanding of Australian culture could be a useful tool for new citizens.
"A basic understanding of Australian culture and a practical knowledge of the English language will go a long way in laying the foundation for a new mindset in the Muslim community," Mr Kara-Ali said.
"It's stifled minds that are opposing outright this draft blueprint by Mr Robb - it's in the Muslim community's best interest to set such citizenship requirements."

Color me skeptical. Muslims lie. The Qur'an tells them to do so.

Acquiring a knowledge of English and the culture of Australia, will not in the least affect the Jihadi complex. It will in fact allow muslims to get citizenship, and then pursue the Jihad with greater vigour, as in their opinion they would have acquired citizenship legally though a test that has declared them fit for Australian citizenship. What then will follow will be the fault of Australia and not the muslim immigrant.
Then ofcourse, there is the small matter of Taqqiya.
Mustapha Kara-Ali is doing the best he can under difficult circumstances - that is somehow or other the continuation of muslim immigration to Australia, until a time when such nuisance requirements are not required and can be done away with.

I don't get it -- what good is this test going to do? Are we to believe that anyone will really tell the truth, especially when it's considered moral, noble even, to lie to non-Muslims?

This would be the same Mustapha Kara-Ali who believes that muslims didn't kill 88 Australians in Bali, right?
(From SBS' Insight program. Transcript here: http://news.sbs.com.au/insight/trans.php )
DAVID MARR: Let's not romanticise Australia's past. Australia is a paradise of a kind and it's because people like you who spout this hateful rhetoric... hateful rhetoric of unity. Why do you say like me? Have you studied no history? The calls for unity
JENNY BROCKIE: Hang on a second.
DAVID MARR: And I'm old enough to remember when this country was so bitterly divided between Catholics and Protestants, they couldn't marry each other, they didn't know each other.
BOB VINNICOMBE: They didn't blow each other up.
DAVID MARR: They didn't speak to each other.
BOB VINNICOMBE: They didn't blow each other up.
MIKEY ROBINS: Who's blown who up, sorry?
BOB VINNICOMBE: The Muslims murdered 88 Australians in Bali. They blew up 50 people in London. They killed 3,000 people on September 11.
JENNY BROCKIE: OK, Bob, you've made your point.
MUSTAPHA KARA-ALI: This gets to the heart of extremism. This is a form of extremism Australia can do without.
BOB VINNICOMBE: I'm not an extremist, I'm the most moderate person here.
MUSTAPHA KARA-ALI: Muslims did not kill 88 people. Listen - no, no, this is very important. This is exactly, unfortunately, exactly the language that breeds extremists for Muslim youth. They listen to you and they go out very angry and frustrated.
JENNY BROCKIE: Mustapha, let's just stick with that for a second. So you're acknowledging there is that kind of extremism?
MUSTAPHA KARA-ALI: Language, as I said earlier, that language you use, "Muslims killed 88 Australians," this is a disaster to Australian history and past. This is dishonour. You are dishonouring Australia when you say 'Muslims'. This is a generalised term. Now Muslims are evil.

l. Drummond,
I saw that tv show Insight as well. The exchange was quick and I'm sure a lot of people missed it.
David Marr is a hard core leftie journalist who wouldn't admit the truth if it clobbered him . ( he even has made a famous quote that one has to be "soft-left" to persue the trade of journalism - HUH ?!! )
The response from the muslim guy , incredulous tho it is, is completely in line with every comment I've seen from a mohammaddenan since 9/11.
Except i guy on a previous Insight, a westernized sounding Bangla deshi psycologist (?)
verbalized that there is a problem with some elements of Islam and was howled down by other mohammedans present.

The muslim apologist journalist David Marr is also an openly gay man. He doesn't even care to admit that the people he defends so uncritically would kill him , in the name of their religion, if they had the chance.
"Jews for Hitler " syndrome.
(tho I read on a site once by someone more versed in history than me that there actually were some jews for Hitler in the early days of the reich.)

Waste of time. Some of the worst "unAustralian-values" Muslims have been born here, i.e., Sheikh Rape is Sydney-born, one of those Islamic mouthpieces on that Insight forum who does not agree with democracy and secularism was born here, etc. This test would do us no good. They're learning their hatred and bile here, from other Australian-born Muslims.
Doesn't matter where they're born. The country is a total non-issue. What's in the mind is what is the problem. A deprogramming is the answer. But until we can get to the point where we can state the nature of the problem loudly and openly, we can have tests coming out of our ears and it'll do no good. We're in denial. It's not about whether they can speak great English or spout dinky-di Aussie poetry or historical facts or name the captains of the all the footie teams. They do not fit.

"So what's to stop them from lying? Isnt that what 'taqiyya' is all about?" was answered in the post:
"If an immigrant were later found to have lied on his application about his positions on such matters, that should be grounds for deportation."

Sickening:
"...MUSTAPHA KARA-ALI: Muslims did not kill 88 people. Listen - no, no, this is very important. This is exactly, unfortunately, exactly the language that breeds extremists for Muslim youth. They listen to you and they go out very angry and frustrated..."
Sick. Really sick.
First of all Mohammedan lunatic suicide bombers killed way more than 88 Australians, they killed more than 300 people in Bali 1 & 2.
Second:
It is pointing the finger at them that 'breeds extremists?' For me every Mohammedan is an enemy agent, a soldier of Allah. I am very angry hearing Mohammedans talk like that, which is nothing other than spitting at the victims they have murdered for the glory of Allah & the 72 virgins. I am very frustrated that nobody pointed it out in this BS-talk-fest.
