Moussaoui Appeals Judgment and Sentence

Courtroom Jihad Update from AP, with thanks to the Jeffrey Imm:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Convicted Sept. 11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui appealed the life sentence he got this month and the denial of his request for a new trial.

In a one-paragraph notice of appeal, his court-appointed lawyers said Friday he wanted the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to review the final judgment and sentence he received May 4 and Judge Leonie Brinkema's May 8 denial of his request to withdraw his guilty plea and go to trial on the original charges.

The notice was required to be filed by May 18 if the 37-year-old Frenchman wanted to appeal his case. It contained no legal arguments about the case; those will be filed later with the appeals court.

Since his sentencing, Moussaoui has said he lied when testifying at his sentencing trial that he was to hijack a fifth jetliner on Sept. 11, 2001. He has returned to claiming - as he had for four years before the trial testimony - that he had nothing to do with the suicide hijackings that took nearly 3,000 lives on Sept. 11, 2001....

On May 5, Moussaoui tried to withdraw his guilty plea and get a trial on the original charges. He argued that he hadn't understood the American criminal justice system when he pleaded and only after receiving a life sentence did he realize an American jury could give him a fair trial and not automatically sentence him to death.

Brinkema denied that motion the same day, citing a federal rule that bars withdrawing guilty pleas after sentencing.

During the trial Judge Brinkema made things exceedingly difficult for the prosecution. Now Moussaoui, who managed because of one juror who unfortunately remains anonymous to escape his just punishment, pushes his luck with this appeal based on his wish to deny the courtroom confession he made with such evident relish. Estopped, buster.

Sounds like this brave warrior for Allah decided Allah isn't worth doing time in a butt-pounding Federal prison.

I guess CAIR will now claim Moussoui IS a Muslim and a victim of Islamophobia that forced him to confess to something he never did.

NO ISLAM - KNOW PEACE

Damn straight! #$#$#@@!

I thought during the sentencing trial that Moussoui-the-Great fully expected the American jury to hand him the death penalty, and thus would become a martyr in an indirect way. But the jury in it's wisdom gave him nothing of the sort; and now he squeals either for mercy from Us infidels, like the swine he is and that he represents, as well as demonstrates the overall cowardice prevelent among his lowly ilk. I personally am glad he will spend the rest of his life underground in a cell in Colorado max. prison... he is lucky he wasn't sent to Levinworth Prison in Kansas. But he will know fear, at least for one hour, every day that he lives.

Clearly this development gives credence to the notion that Moussouai expected and desired a verdict of death. Now, with the full knowledge that he will face the same uncertainties that all of us have to face he wants to flip the script and take another course. Well to bad for him. He is getting exactly what he deserves, well almost. I would propose that the walls of his cell be covered with pictures of the victims of Sept 11th, so that he cannot for a moment forget what he has done.

This reminds me of a episode of Twilight Zone , a man makes a deal to live for ever , but after endless failed suicides he gets charged with murder.
While his Lawyer can't figure out why his client plead guilty and wants the Electric chair, the man knows if they can't fry him he must go free.

But a compassionate Jury returns with "Life in prison" .

Looks like Moussoui thought Satan would keep his promise to give him martyrdom for Allah's cause.

May moussoui live long and rot away in a cell as a pathetic shell of a human that sold his soul to Satan for the glory of murdering God's children for Islam and Muhammed's crusade of blood to oppress all people equally .

He deserves a fate worse than death. Maybe the lone juror was giving him exactly that. Four blank walls in solitary for the rest of your life (maybe 40 in Moussaoui's case) would be enough to _really_ make him insane.

Anyway, I picked this up off Comcast's news page:
http://www.comcast.net/news/international/index.jsp?cat=INTERNATIONAL&fn=/2006/05/12/390619.html&cvqh=itn_belgian
Shootings in Belgium Raise Racial Concerns

The people he went after were from Turkey and Mali. The police say he went after "black" people, but I thought Turks were fair skinned? Both are most likey Islamic. Could this be isolated, or something bigger?

They also call the MP3 Incident assailants 'Polish' even though we know that they were only Polish due to their IDs.

He just misses the limelight. He wants to be the center of attention again...the best thing to do now, is ignore him, and let him compost...Allah invented composting, and he knows best...

Moussaoui is the Sirhan Sirhan (convicted-June 5, 1968 of the assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy-one year to the date of the Arab-Israeli war) of our time. This monster Moussaoui has the same Karma as Sirhan Sirhan. Islam has the same Karma as Sirhan Sirhan and Moussaoui. I'll bet I turn out to be prophetic on the matter(not that I desire to be prophetic or even care to be prophetic on the matter.) Moussaoui is as evil and cruel and ultimately as absurd as Sirhan Sirhan and all evil.

For a guy that triumphantly boasted that the US lost he seems to be changing his tune now.

Reminds me of the ass clown german guy I work with who takes his side and insists the US lost.

Moussaoui's life will be dreary at the supermax prison. He will have a shower, toilet, electric lamp, concrete desk and stool, cigarette lighter and a 13-inch television.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be delivered to his cell, and he may choose from several culinary options for each meal. He will receive freshly laundered bedding and clothing, including prison-issue khakis, three times a week.

He will have no contact with any other inmate, and he will be shackled and accompanied by at least two guards every time he leaves his cell, which is for no more than two hours a day.

Mr. Moussaoui was a lousy lawyer at accomplishing what he really wanted. Perhaps Moussaoui can be a better shadid and will have the courage to force his guards to shoot him. Allahu akbar.

His is a fate worse than death, life in prison and no chance of being shaheed (martyr) and now he wants to appeal the sentencing...well I think him spending the rest of his miserable life in ISOLATION is a great sentence and will serve as a deterrent to some other fools thinking of making a move against us.

arjun.sevak and duh_swami Here is an excerpt of some weasel words at the referenced website:

"Note that any translation of the Qur'an immediately ceases to be the literal word of Allah, and hence cannot be equated with the Qur'an in its original Arabic form." "...each of the translations on this site is actually an interpretation which has been translated."

How's that for a discalimer? Where is that kind of logic found in any other religion?

Posted by: Pelayo [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 13, 2006 9:10 AM

the spirit of islam is evil, evil is born of chaos.logic will not apply.

Posted by: storagemanager [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 13, 2006 9:18 AM

storagemanager, allow me to illucidate -

If every translation is a mere interpretation, this allows Islamic apologists the escape hatch to tell infidels that they do not understand the true word of Mohammedanism. They can say that we are wrong, and Islam is really, really a religion of peace and goodwill toward dhimmis. "Logic" was a poor choice of words on my part. Christians worked out the problem with translations a long damn time ago.

If Mohammed really was filled with the spirit of Allah, he could have spoken in tongues, and all peoples could have heard the true word.

Outstanding!

Pelayo,

I really am getting dumber, as I age. You and storagemanager have produced the perfect argument to the classic "do you speak Arabic" comeback. I never even thought of that! (Maybe because my prayers are in English, and I feel that an omniscient God understands all languages.)

duh_swami, thanks for that link. Now I have a quick reference source.

this works too Abscedere :::the lord said,if as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossiable for them.come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not UNDERSTAND EACH OTHER.genesis 11:6....god understands all languages,he made them.he is GOD.why can't islam understand that?

Fly Zach into LA. Appoint Judge Lance Ito to the federal bench and assign him Zach's appeal. Lance weeps before the TV cameras and commutes Zach's unfair sentence. Zach schools up with OJ in Orlando and it's love at first sight. OJ accepts Zach's call to Islam, and they ride the A-train uptown from then on.

Frank, Sirhan Sirhan was an Eastern Orthodox Christian. Yes, he was a Falastin Arab nationalist, but not a Muslim. He may have become a Muslim in prison, but he was not one when he assassinated Robert F. Kennedy.
