A last gasp of life from Old Europe: Verdonk takes heat for hounding Hirsi Ali out of Holland

An update on this story. "Verdonk takes heat for naturalisation ruling," from Expatica, with thanks to Anna:

AMSTERDAM — The way Immigration Minister Rita Verdonk has decided her Liberal party colleague Ayaan Hirsi Ali was never a Dutch citizen has drawn the ire of several political allies.

Bibi de Vries, an MP for the Dutch Liberal Party (VVD), furiously laid into Verdonk before the parliamentary party's weekly meeting on Tuesday.

"I am fuming with Rita Verdonk that she has hunted Hirsi Ali like wild game. And if anything happens to Hirsi Ali, there will be people within the VVD who have blood on their hands," De Vries said.

Senior party officials rushed to defend Verdonk, pointing out she was only following the letter of the law. Verdonk announced on Monday evening that Hirsi Ali, who was born in Somalia, is not a Dutch citizen. Her naturalisation in 1997 was based on false information she gave to get her asylum in 1992.

The VVD is one of the three parties in the centre-right coalition government. It has consistently supported Verdonk's approach of expelling asylum seekers for giving false information.

Yes, but why now? Hirsi Ali has acknowledged all this for years. One would think also that the death threats she has received for telling the truth could and would become the occasion for granting her asylum and citizenship on a firmer basis. That this is not under consideration unmasks Verdonk and her allies as craven dhimmis bent only on the destruction of a Cassandra who has told them too many unpleasant truths.

This has not [prevented] some members of the party [from] taking a different view in Hirsi Ali's case. Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, an MEP for the Dutch Liberal Party (VVD), described Verdonk's actions as "disgusting".

Yes, that's what it is. Disgusting.

It wouldn't be the first time that people of the Dutch political establishment have blood on their hands.

In 2002 the islam-critic Pim Fortuyn was murdered months after the government tapped a phone-conversation of left-wing extremists who talked about killing Fortuyn. The minister responsible for the safety of Fortuyn - the socialist Klaas de Vries - dind't do anything. He even didn't do something when Fortuyn was attacked with "pies" filled with vomit and shit (also by left-wing extremists). Months later, Fortuyn was killed by the left-wing extremist and animal rights-activist Volkert van der Graaf.

In 2004 the islam-critic Theo van Gogh was butcherd by Mohammed Bouyeri, a muslim who lived in Amsterdam. Van Gogh was threathened several times before, for instance by followers of Dyab Abu Jahjah, a muslim living in Belgium. And also then, the politicians responsible for Van Gogh's safety - for instance the mayor of Amsterdam, the socialist Job Cohen - didn't do anything serious to protect him.

For every Dutch person hiding a Jew in the attic there were a hundred filling out papers attesting to the purity of their "aryan" descent, or calling the Dutch "green police" to turn neighbors in.

Now as then, in all times and places where decency is put to the test, good people come forward with their clarity and vision, and are remembered for their contributions to humanity.
We will always have Verdonks; but humanity will always be blessed with its Hirsi Alis. It is the latter we will remember.

Remember that in Europe, "Liberal" does not mean "liberal" in the way Americans most often mean it.

Television,
Here in old Blighty, Liberal means; On the fence, middle of the road, vacillation, decadence, moral relativism and tendencies of a homosexual nature.

OT~ Please take a look at this article about myspace.com showing US university students who are posting that they wish to die martyrs. And seemingly nothing being done to investigate.

Maybe they can give her "amnesty" and make her a citizen anyway, like we do in the USA.

Sorry, bad joke. I hope the Netherlands is better for this whole affair following it's conclusion, whatever that may eventually be.

The whole thing is like accusing Ann Frank of lieing to the Nazis and the Dutch government in fleeing the Nazis while ignoring Ann's truth that the Nazis are genocidal totalitarians. The emphasis on Ann's lie and enthusiastic glee in seizing upon Ann's lie is done in order to avoid Ann's truth.

Although I have tremendous respect for AHA, her lies were despicable, and unfortunately, weakened her message.

Kafir Nonbeliever-

Her lies were "despicable"?

Do you understand the meaning of the word "despicable"?

Do you understand the many shadings of the meaning of the word "lie"?

Is it "despicable" to say to the stormtroopers: "No, there are no Jews hiding here." (A lie.)

Is it "despicable" to tell a robber that you have a gun when you do not? (A lie.)

I think your judgment needs a little reality check. (Or maybe a refresher course in moral philosophy.)

Hirsi Ali told a white lie to avoid terrorism and gain safety.

Since then she has told the far more important truths.

Don't you seriously think that, if the Dutch reviewed the asylum and immigration applications for everyone who has come to Holland in the past 20 years (there a 1,000,000 practicing Muslims in The Netherlands, now) they couldn't find 200 or 300 thousand people, at least, who told far more serious lies than Hirsi Ali to gain a foothold in Holland?

Are they doing that? Of course not. Because the Muslims would start rioting and the U.N. would accuse theNetherlanders of racism and Islamophobia.

Let's be real.

"Despicable"?

"Understandable" is more like it.

I'm sorry, but Europe has lost. Islam has won. Fraternity, Egalite, and Liberty? More like Tribalism, Dhimmitude and Slavery. What a crying shame. On Western civilization's epitaph it will read, "Death by Apathy." It should never have come to this.
