"Light-Unto-The-Muslim-Nations (Afghanistan model)" update from the Bandar Beacon, aka the Washington Post:
ASADABAD, Afghanistan - Afghanistan has been rocked by some of the deadliest violence since the Taliban was driven from power in late 2001. In two days of attacks, as many as 105 people were reported killed in four provinces as insurgents torched a district government compound, set off suicide bombs and clashed fiercely with Afghan and foreign troops.Between 80 and 90 Taliban fighters were killed in Kandahar and Helmand provinces, Afghan, U.S. and NATO officials reported. Two sites in Kandahar were struck by U.S. warplanes, including a long-range B-1 bomber, which the U.S. military said destroyed a compound Taliban fighters were using to stage an attack.
Among the dead in fighting that started Wednesday were a U.S. State Department trainer killed by a car bomb in Herat province, a Canadian army captain and at least 12 Afghan police officers, officials said.
Afghanistan experienced several years of relative calm after the pro-Western government took over in Kabul in 2001. But in recent months, the pace and scope of insurgent attacks have been increasing steadily, and they now include suicide bombings, a tactic long foreign to Afghanistan. The violence has surged as NATO forces prepare to assume the lead military role in Afghanistan this summer, a transition that some observers believe the Taliban and other insurgent groups are seeking to test.
President Hamid Karzai, visiting the capital of eastern Konar province under heavy security, angrily denounced the new violence as the work of religious extremists and intelligence services in neighboring Pakistan, saying they had sent young men across the border to stage attacks in the name of holy war.
``In Pakistan they train people to go to Afghanistan, conduct jihad, burn schools and clinics,'' he told a gathering of provincial elders in a long, emotional speech. ``What kind of Islam is this?''
Looks like the usual garden variety to us.

So the vast majority of those killed were the bad guys, but the headline doesn't tell us that. Oh, the media is neutral? Or are they rooting for us to lose. It was a battle and we won. How many times have the media mentioned that in every single battle the Marines and Army and Special Ops have kicked the can of the enemy, even when our U.S. Forces are fighting with great constraint? Never. We've been winning for five years and we've been taking the moral high ground, but they can't accept that fact.

Terrorists coming from our "staunch ally" Pakistan. MMmmmhmmmm.
Until the infection is targeted, pus will ooze and the infection spreads. We're "treating" all around the infection instead of the source.
It will never heal.

freewoman,
Agree with you absolutely. Unless we attack the source, this 1350 year old wound ain't going to heal.

Q:"What kind of Islam is this?"
A: The same kind of Islam that Mohammed practiced.

Karzai: "What kind of Islam is this?"
Rebecca: Looks like the usual garden variety to us.
First I laughed at the wit. Then I smirked at the truth of the statement. Rebecca, thanks for making me chuckle. Sometimes my perusal of Jihad Watch can leave me semi-depressed. This lightened things up. Keep up the good work.

"The garden variety!" LOL!
Rebecca, you found a new fan!
Watch Karzai:
"What kind of Islam is this?"
However, would he ever question Islam itself, would he, could he possibly ever doubt that there is something fundamentally wrong with Islam itself?
I doubt it....

Gee, it's a good thing Muslims claim to shun idolatry, or else they might end up the butt of other peoples' jokes:

Bah, must be more "deviants" again.

Shouldn't the headline be:
80-90 Taliban Terrorists Killed
And the sub-title:
Failed Attempt to Create Uprising in Afghan Province Leaves Nearly 100 Jihadists Dead?
This kind of 'journalism' would have the D-Day invasion sound like:
Nazis Forces Kill Thousands of Allied Troops
And:
Many Supposedly 'Amphibious' U.S. Tanks Sink in Rough Seas, Drowning entires Crews During Deadly Aquatic Assault
(Forgetting to mention that the battle was won by the allies.)
