This is a Saudi textbook. (After the intolerance was removed.)

It is good to see this article about jihadist material in the textbooks of our Friend and Ally in the Bandar Beacon, aka the Washington Post. But like all Freedom House material, this piece shies away from pointing out the deep Islamic roots of the material, and leads the reader to the impression that this is all something cooked up by the wicked Saudi Wahhabis, instead of a much broader problem within the Islamic umma.

Well, it would be very nice if that were true. But it isn't. And the folks at Freedom House, if they succeed in getting the Saudis to stop teaching this sort of thing in Saudi Arabia and around the world (and I hope they do succeed) will be surprised to find that the problem hasn't thereby disappeared.

Saudi Arabia's public schools have long been cited for demonizing the West as well as Christians, Jews and other "unbelievers." But after the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 -- in which 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis -- that was all supposed to change.

A 2004 Saudi royal study group recognized the need for reform after finding that the kingdom's religious studies curriculum "encourages violence toward others, and misguides the pupils into believing that in order to safeguard their own religion, they must violently repress and even physically eliminate the 'other.' " Since then, the Saudi government has claimed repeatedly that it has revised its educational texts.

[...]

The problem is: These claims are not true.

A review of a sample of official Saudi textbooks for Islamic studies used during the current academic year reveals that, despite the Saudi government's statements to the contrary, an ideology of hatred toward Christians and Jews and Muslims who do not follow Wahhabi doctrine remains in this area of the public school system. The texts teach a dualistic vision, dividing the world into true believers of Islam (the "monotheists") and unbelievers (the "polytheists" and "infidels").

[...]

FIRST GRADE

"Every religion other than Islam is false."

"Fill in the blanks with the appropriate words (Islam, hellfire): Every religion other than ______________ is false. Whoever dies outside of Islam enters ____________."

This is straight from the Qur'an: "If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter He will be in the ranks of those who have lost (All spiritual good)" (3:85).

FOURTH GRADE

"True belief means . . . that you hate the polytheists and infidels but do not treat them unjustly."

Again, straight from the Qur'an: "Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are hard against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves" (48:29). "Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, will be in Hell-Fire, to dwell therein (for aye). They are the worst of creatures" (98:6).

FIFTH GRADE

"Whoever obeys the Prophet and accepts the oneness of God cannot maintain a loyal friendship with those who oppose God and His Prophet, even if they are his closest relatives."

"It is forbidden for a Muslim to be a loyal friend to someone who does not believe in God and His Prophet, or someone who fights the religion of Islam."

"A Muslim, even if he lives far away, is your brother in religion. Someone who opposes God, even if he is your brother by family tie, is your enemy in religion."

"Let not the believers Take for friends or helpers Unbelievers rather than believers: if any do that, in nothing will there be help from Allah: except by way of precaution, that ye may Guard yourselves from them. But Allah cautions you (To remember) Himself; for the final goal is to Allah." (Qur'an 3:28)

"O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust." (Qur'an 5:51)

"It is never the wish of those without Faith among the People of the Book, nor of the Pagans, that anything good should come down to you from your Lord." (Qur'an 2:105)

SIXTH GRADE

"Just as Muslims were successful in the past when they came together in a sincere endeavor to evict the Christian crusaders from Palestine, so will the Arabs and Muslims emerge victorious, God willing, against the Jews and their allies if they stand together and fight a true jihad for God, for this is within God's power."

"Verily Allah will defend (from ill) those who believe: verily, Allah loveth not any that is a traitor to faith, or show ingratitude." (Qur'an 22:38)

"There has already been for you a Sign in the two armies that met (in combat): One was fighting in the cause of Allah, the other resisting Allah; these saw with their own eyes Twice their number. But Allah doth support with His aid whom He pleaseth. In this is a warning for such as have eyes to see." (Qur'an 3:13)

EIGHTH GRADE

"As cited in Ibn Abbas: The apes are Jews, the people of the Sabbath; while the swine are the Christians, the infidels of the communion of Jesus."

"Those who believe (in the Qur'an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians -- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness -- shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. And remember We took your covenant and We raised above you (the towering height) of Mount (Sinai),: (saying): "Hold firmly to what We have given you and bring (ever) to remembrance what is therein: Perchance ye may fear Allah." But ye turned back thereafter: Had it not been for the Grace and Mercy of Allah to you, ye had surely been among the lost. And well ye knew those amongst you who transgressed in the matter of the Sabbath. We said to them: "Be ye apes, despised and rejected." (Qur'an 2:62-65)

This verse makes it clear that the apes and swine are Jews and Christians, the "People of the Book":

"Say: 'O people of the Book! Do ye disapprove of us for no other reason than that we believe in Allah, and the revelation that hath come to us and that which came before (us), and (perhaps) that most of you are rebellious and disobedient?'Say: 'Shall I point out to you something much worse than this, (as judged) by the treatment it received from Allah? those who incurred the curse of Allah and His wrath, those of whom some He transformed into apes and swine, those who worshipped evil -- these are (many times) worse in rank, and far more astray from the even path!'" (Qur'an 5:59-60)

"God told His Prophet, Muhammad, about the Jews, who learned from parts of God's book [the Torah and the Gospels] that God alone is worthy of worship. Despite this, they espouse falsehood through idol-worship, soothsaying, and sorcery. In doing so, they obey the devil. They prefer the people of falsehood to the people of the truth out of envy and hostility. This earns them condemnation and is a warning to us not to do as they did."

"The Jews say: Allah's hand is fettered. Their hands are fettered and they are accursed for saying so." (Qur'an 5:64)

"They are the Jews, whom God has cursed and with whom He is so angry that He will never again be satisfied [with them]."

"The Jews call 'Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah's curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth!" (Qur'an 9:30)

"Some of the people of the Sabbath were punished by being turned into apes and swine. Some of them were made to worship the devil, and not God, through consecration, sacrifice, prayer, appeals for help, and other types of worship. Some of the Jews worship the devil. Likewise, some members of this nation worship the devil, and not God."

See the verses quoted above, which establish the apes and pigs reference and show that Allah's curse is on Jews and Christians.

"Activity: The student writes a composition on the danger of imitating the infidels."

Clearly if one is not to take them as friends and protectors (3:28, 5:51), and if they are the worst of creatures (98:6), and are under Allah's curse (9:30), they should not be imitated.

NINTH GRADE

"The clash between this [Muslim] community (umma) and the Jews and Christians has endured, and it will continue as long as God wills."

"And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah." (2:193)

"It is reported on the authority of Abu Huraira that the Messenger of Allah said: I have been commanded to fight against people so long as they do not declare that there is no god but Allah, and he who professed it was guaranteed the protection of his property and life on my behalf except for the right affairs rest with Allah." (Sahih Muslim book 1, no. 30; there are many similar ahadith)

"It is part of God's wisdom that the struggle between the Muslim and the Jews should continue until the hour [of judgment]."

"Allah's Apostle said, 'The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say. "O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him."'" (Sahih Bukhari, vol. 4, bk. 52, no. 177; there are many similar ahadith)

"Muslims will triumph because they are right. He who is right is always victorious, even if most people are against him."

That one sounds reasonable to me; I believe that ultimately those who are right will triumph also. I don't see that as hate speech.

TENTH GRADE

The 10th-grade text on jurisprudence teaches that life for non-Muslims (as well as women, and, by implication, slaves) is worth a fraction of that of a "free Muslim male." Blood money is retribution paid to the victim or the victim's heirs for murder or injury:

"Blood money for a free infidel. [Its quantity] is half of the blood money for a male Muslim, whether or not he is 'of the book' or not 'of the book' (such as a pagan, Zoroastrian, etc.).

"Blood money for a woman: Half of the blood money for a man, in accordance with his religion. The blood money for a Muslim woman is half of the blood money for a male Muslim, and the blood money for an infidel woman is half of the blood money for a male infidel."

"Since Islam regards non-Muslims as on a lower level of belief and conviction, if a Muslim kills a non-Muslim...then his punishment must not be the retaliatory death, since the faith and conviction he possesses is loftier than that of the man slain." -- The Iranian Sufi Sheikh Sultanhussein Tabandeh, A Muslim Commentary on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, London, 1970, p. 18; Iranian Sufis are not Wahhabis.)

ELEVENTH GRADE

"The greeting 'Peace be upon you' is specifically for believers. It cannot be said to others."

"If one comes to a place where there is a mixture of Muslims and infidels, one should offer a greeting intended for the Muslims."

"Do not yield to them [Christians and Jews] on a narrow road out of honor and respect."

"Such non-Muslim subjects are obliged to compy with Islamic rules...In addition, they...are not greeted with 'as-Salamu 'alaykum'; ...must keep to the side of the street..." ('Umdat al-Salik, o11.5 (3-4); this manual of Shafi'i law was endorsed in 1991 by Al-Azhar University in Cairo, which is not a Wahhabi institution, as conforming "to the practice and faith of the orthodox Sunni community.")

TWELFTH GRADE

"Jihad in the path of God -- which consists of battling against unbelief, oppression, injustice, and those who perpetrate it -- is the summit of Islam. This religion arose through jihad and through jihad was its banner raised high. It is one of the noblest acts, which brings one closer to God, and one of the most magnificent acts of obedience to God."

"A man came to Allah's Apostle and said, "Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad (in reward)." He replied, "I do not find such a deed." (Sahih Bukhari, vol. 4, bk. 52, no. 44)

The implications of this will sooner or later have to be faced.

Great article, Robert; we need that kind of commentary, for the original Washington Post article is not complete without it. And despite the original article's overemphasis on the evil Wahhabis, I will commend that author for this decisive statement about the Saudis' claims about cleaning the hate from their schoolbooks: "The problem is: These claims are not true."

Lo Robert

Im a long time visitor to your site, rather short time poster.

When i hear politians telling us that islam is a peacefull religion blah blah etc all i can do is sigh in disbelief.

Now this post clearly shows islam 'peacefull' and 'tolerant' ways (as do most of the writtings here) are taught in schools of our 'allies'.

A perfect example to show to politians whats really going on in Islam. But is there a way concerned members of the public can get this message across with out being dissmissed as a islamaphobe, racist or bigot?

If i sent a link of this topic to my MP (im scottish btw) there pc blinkered mind would probably ignore it.

What can we do?

There should be some kind of human rights laws that say children of the world should not be taught to be soldiers(jihadists) until at least 15 on up.

The U.N. complains that the prisoners in Gitmo are treated so badly,(which they are NOT) but yet , they turn a blind eye to children being taught to hate , subjugate and kill. Year after year. But the U. N. is silent. Muslims aren't raising their children to want better for themselves (it's easier to steal or let someone else support you) or to further the advancement of mankind. These mohammedans are raising little pit bulls and what they don't realize is, sometimes they turn on you. And they are. All over the world. They are killing each other. Blowing each other up.

All for a pedophile, criminal, misogynist, murdering crazy man named mo.

C.A.I.R. PICKS ANOTHER FIGHT....shame on you..your god demands the blood of children....The Council on American-Islamic Relations (lgf: search), at least five of whose employees and board members have been arrested, convicted, deported, or otherwise linked to terrorism-related charges and activities, has sent out one of their infamous “Action Alerts” about ... the Lizardoid Nation: Incitement: Threats on Internet Hate Site.

Cherry-picking through LGF comments (a favorite pastime of LGF smear artists, despite the very obvious disclaimer at the top of every comments page), they single out two from a thread about American teenager Daniel Wultz, who was murdered in Tel Aviv by a Palestinian suicide bomber. Hi Berf - Some folks simply refuse to be convinced, despite all of the evidence to the contrary. They either feel guilty themselves for criticizing another religion, or hate their own heritage so much that they willingly put on blinders. Ironically, under Shariah, they will be among the first to go to the wall, yet they either lack a sense of peril, or naively believe that they will be spared. Our job would be to bypass these useful idiots, and spread the word to the greater population comfortably going about their daily lives. Where in Scotland? I'm in the U.S. but have Glaswegian ancestry.

What's not reasonable about it is the first sentence: it is supremacist.

Hugh

In the context of your week long courses on Islam, can the FBI, CIA and USCIS (not INS - the INS no longer exists) attend classes with these Saudi school kids? That way, 1 of 2 things can happen:

  • The instructors would have to practise taqiyya on the students, which would include the kids. That way, the messages of hatred won't be inculcated by the kids;
  • The instructors tell the students exactly what is taught above, in which case, not only those skullsful of mush get it, but also the FBI, CIA and USCIS students. A real eye opener.

Why not give the Saudis to prove that they are really our "friend & ally" (gag me!)

Check out this link to a report from NE Intel. At the end of the report are pictures of Muslims carrying out Sharia law on a little child caught stealing bread...they put his arm under a car tire and ran over his arm!!! Oh yes, the so called "superiority" of Islamic law in action...when will the non-Muslim world get a clue about this barbaric cult of mutilation and death.

>>Muslims aren't raising their children to want better for themselves (it's easier to steal or let someone else support you) or to further the advancement of mankind. >>

Islam *began* as the religious legitimization of a predatory and parasitical culture. The nature of Islam has held true through the centuries: conquest and extortion, the slow bleeding of a suppressed population, the eventual extinguishment of any creativity and initiative -- at which point the Muslims move on to the next prey.

The Europeans are finding out the cost of feeding the endless voracious maws of the Muslims. I imagine the imams are licking their lips over the United States. The cuckoo's egg mosques are already multiplying here.

Yes, and these are just the Saudi textbooks. Islamic textbooks, in Egypt, "Palestine," Syria, Pakistan, Indonesia and even "liberated" Afghanistan, would carry the same messages to children. That's the world according to Sunni Islam. Imagine what Shiite textbooks for children in Iran must read! Besides a steady diet of hate, the world is color coded for them. Green belongs to Islam, the dirty Jews must wear yellow, the nasty Christians must wear blue and those in-the-shadows Zorastians must don red.

Does anyone remember that Freedom House did a project a year or so ago collecting textbooks and handouts from Islamic schools in the Washington DC area. The little Muslim darlings were being taught the same hate-the-infidel curriculum.

"...so will the Arabs and Muslims emerge victorious, God willing, against the Jews and their allies if they stand together and fight a true jihad for God, for this is within God's power." From the Saudi teaching material.

Arabs and Muslims. Why don't they just say "Muslims"? This goes to the issue of whether Islam is strictly Muslim supremacism or also contains an element of Arab supremacism. This points to Arab-Muslim supremacism, at least in the Saudi interpretation.

The other part of the statement says that the war is directed against Jews and their allies. "Jews and their allies" includes quite a large group of people, i.e., most western nations. This is not just the case of the Saudis officially declaring war--they are too prudent to do that--they are actually giving early training to young soldiers.

I believe that's essentially what the Koran is: A doctrine to prepare the young mind to be willing to fight and kill the enemy. If we look at each school grade in sequence in the article, it is reasonable to conclude that this is a carefully-planned, step-by-step, age-appropriate presentation of information. (I.e., "appropriate" for the task of producing haters and killers). The Koran is not a technical terrorist manual but rather more of a the psychologically-oriented terrorist manual that goes hand in hand with any more specific technical training that may be obtained. Given the many forms of jihad (media, cultural, economic, political, legal, physical), any technical training acquired has the potential to be combined, and subverted, to the psychological underpinnings that are founded in the Koran and Sunnah.

Posted by: Archimedes [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 22, 2006 2:42 PM

I'm amazed at the time spent bashing other people's faiths in these "Islamic" religion classes. If an ideology wishes to present itself as superior to another, shouldn't it be able to depend on its own merits?

But while it's a shock to a civilized society, the time and paper (martyrdom for trees?) that these Saudi texts devote to bashing other faiths isn't at all disproportionate to the space taken up in the Quran and ahadith on the same subject.

As the examples cited above by Robert demonstrate, it's already hard-wired into their scriptures as a high priority. Thus, it's not just the big bad Wahhabis pulling stuff out of context-- there's quite a receptive audience for it.

The obvious question that arises is, given the level of Saudi funding of Islamic enterprises in the US, what's being taught in "Islamic academies" around the country? We probably don't want to know, but we should.

A former top Homeland Security official warns that the terrorists aren't confined to the battle fronts abroad, but are already here in America living among us. And he says the government needs to redouble its efforts to root them out.

"While we certainly should continue to take the fight to the enemy wherever he is, we need to face the awful reality that the enemy may already be in our very own backyard," says former Homeland Security Department Inspector General Clark Kent Ervin. "The frightening truth is that there are already terrorists among us."
Osama bin Laden recently warned that al-Qaeda is making final preparations for another massive attack on America. Assuming the terrorist kingpin isn't bluffing, he could have terrorist cells secreted inside American cities.

CAIR used Moussoui as the poster-boy for Islamophobia and Racism , but once the evidence and his own rantings started to convict him , CAIR now posts a article about Moussoui not representing the true Islam.

The irony in CAIR's doublespeak is that they don't deny Moussoui as a Muslim, only that he not a True Muslim.

Reciting aloud Muslim prayers that begin with "In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful . . . ."

Memorizing the Muslim profession of faith: "Allah is the only true God and Muhammad is his messenger."
Chanting "Praise be to Allah" in response to teacher prompts.

Professing as "true" the Muslim belief that "The Holy Quran is God's word."

Giving up candy and TV to demonstrate Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting.

Designing prayer rugs, taking an Arabic name and essentially "becoming a Muslim" for two full weeks.

I'm not good with links, but on the front page of today's LA TIMES, there is an incredibly bizzare story about an undercover Swiss intelligence operative who had infiltraded the Islamic Center of Geneva run by Hani Ramadan-brother of Tariq. Felon and former drug-user Claude Covassi, recruited out of prison due to restrictions applying to spying and wiretap placed upon Swiss intelligence services, subsequently reverted to Islam, alerted Ramadan about the operation and is now publicly accusing Swiss intelligence of attempting to frame Ramadan for collusion in the recruitment of jihadis for the fight in Iraq.

More about what those schools taught here. This is getting frighteningly close to home. As Jay at Stop the ACLU puts it: "Can we find a teacher out there willing to make some Muslim students pretend to be Christians for a few weeks? You know, just to better understand the culture and all."

Also, further insanity from those schools:

It is customary for Muslims to eat, offer or receive something with their right hand, and to enter homes and rooms with the right foot. The exception is the bathroom which is entered with the left foot first and exited with the right foot.
Why not have those kids just visit Sistani's website, and do everything prescribed there?

Charming.

Sounds like the kind of education prescribed by Alfred Rosenberg in Nazi Germany.

A pity the Post didn't also examine the Islamic textbooks used in state-sponsored schools in Dubai (ports deal folks) as well. To show what great "allies" we have.

Are there any Saudi school curriculum quotes cited about the worth of Shi'ites?

I'm sure they come off almost as well as the Jews.

I hope the Iraqis (killing one another over their clashing interpretations of the Koran) aren't teaching their children this kind of swill, using our tax dollars, in their new textbooks.

Do the teachers swing little reflective discs in front of the eyes of the class as these lessons are given?

No Islam. Know peace.

Come on: what, ultimately rape victims who are murdered by violent offenders 'triumph' because they are in the right? Peaceful harmless people invaded by war-like ones 'triumph' somehow, despite being destroyed by war and disease.

I can't believe such a naive statement from our intelligent Mr Spencer. Or perhaps he meant only in this case...

Ok, so they need work on their education system, what are you all worried about, many get higher education in the UK and the USA. I’m sure that is where they get classes on tolerance and understanding (sarcasm off).

I remember seeing a kid’s math book that had problems like: You have two 30 round magazines how many infidels can you shoot? I tried for years to tell my friends about that book and no one believed me. The great thing about muslims is their undying ability to sell themselves out. Our greatest enemy against them is the truth (followed closely by large caliber kinetic weapons). I have spamed friends and co-workers with articles from JW/DW for a long time. Now some of them ask me about the latest articles or visit regularly. Keep at it folks, the word does get out. My only problem now is getting enough dictionaries so my friends can translate Hugh’s articles (lol, j/k, love your work). I did find it best to include responses from our friendly muslim trolls. Let them hang themselves, they are good at it and don’t even realize it. I’d buy Naseem a beer any ol day.

"The SAP(Service for Analysis and Prevention) had to resort to an informant because domestic spying laws prohibit its agents from undercover work and wiretap. The tough restrictions even put agents overseeing the informants in danger of breaking the law."

In support of Television's comment on:

"Muslims will triumph because they are right. He who is right is always victorious, even if most people are against him."

Yes, the first sentence is supremacist. However, what is more worrying is the Muslim strategy for imposing the "right" through violent jihad, not through intellectual debate and the amassing of relevant facts (the head), nor even any appeal to common human values (the heart). The strategy is simply stated as "might is right".

For Qur'anic backing on this, see David Cook's Understanding Jihad, especially (my emphasis):

The Qur' an, moreover, directs the community of Muslims to preserve the memory of the event [battle of Badr]: "whoever turns his back on that day, unless preparing to resume fighting, or joining another group, incurs Allah's wrath and his refuge is Hell; and what an evil fate!" (8:16). All of this will be accomplished "so that He may cause the Truth to triumph and nullify falsehood, even though the wicked sinners dislike it" (8:8).

It is clear from the context of this verse 8:8 that the Qur'an sees truth (or "the right") as something to be established by force.

Here's a hard edged solution to this "hand-me-down" hatred - philosophically destroy "allah". Challenge any Muslim with a spine to counter this:

If allah exists, is all-forgiving, all-merciful, and benevolent.

THEN

Suffering in this world is incompatible with the existence of allah...unless suffering is a construct of allah.

IF SO, THEN

allah is a brutal and evil being worthy of only one thing - rejection.

THEREFORE

If allah exists, then allah is NOT merciful and NOT "oft-forgiving" and NOT benevelent.

Since suffering exists and "allah" has yet end all suffering (at any point in human history I might add) Islam is nothing more than a running joke.

THEREFORE

allah is a myth and Islam, nothing more than an exceptional failure in cultural terms. What a sad comedy, human beings who murder, steal, rape, control and sacrifice for the sake of a god who was never there.

hasan salami,

I think the Swiss Spy story was (partially) covered a few days ago: http://www.jihadwatch.org/archives/011509.php

It was also on LGF:
http://littlegreenfootballs.com/weblog/?entry=20673_Islamic_Terror_Plot_in_Switzerland&only

I'm wondering about this Covassi/Kuvasi character. That name seems similiar to Kubeisi, a definitely arab name. Is Covassi, or a homonym, a Swiss German/French/Italian/Romansch name? Anyone?

RACING TOWARD EZEKIEL 37 & 38 WHILE THE WORLD NODS:.....Israel's Ambassador to the United States Danny Gillerman told the Jewish organization Bnei Brith that Iran was just a few months away from having the capability to develop nuclear weapons, and hence, the international community's opportunity to act on the matter was running out.

He commended the work of the United States Ambassador to the UN John Bolton for his support of Israel.

On the other hand, he condemned Russia and China, who he claimed have been preventing the United Nations' Security Council from reaching any decisions on Iran, Army Radio reported.

PLEASE DONT JUST DISMISS THIS..CHECK WHO THE PLAYERS IN EZEKIEL ARE TODAY...YOU SEE THEM IN THE PAPER EVERYDAY.

"Muslims will triumph because they are right. He who is right is always victorious, even if most people are against him."

That one sounds reasonable to me [writes Spencer]; I believe that ultimately those who are right will triumph also. I don't see that as hate speech."

That comment by Robert was definitely "tongue in cheek"...a joke.
I was thinking of posting, applauding the humour.

What Robert means is that he agrees that right will eventually triumph. He leaves unstated his opinion that the Muslims are on the wrong side.

wow... even Wolf Blitzer/John Roberts picked this up on CNN. But as per the 'Beacon, "it's a Saudi problem." They didn't mention the word "Wahabi" though, tacitly acknowledging the problem as Islam, albiet Arabic, and their global influence in setting the syllabus in Moslem schools from Pak to the US.

"The greeting 'Peace be upon you' is specifically for believers. It cannot be said to others."

So what does Emily Bint Post recommend for "others"--"as-Jihadu 'alaykum", giggles (as in Florida), or a simple "I own the road" statement?

Hmmmm...Islam is certainly educational.

Here is a good article in the Boston Herald of how the Islamic Society Boston sues one of their own who dares to speak out against Jihadist propaganda provided in a Cambridge mosque that he goes to pray in. I'm sure all of us at JW would love to answer the editors final question.

Berf,

I suggest excerpting short paragraphs from sources such as R Spencer, the Washington Post article etc--presenting the facts. Express your concern. Send it to every MP. Some of them will respond positively. Keep it up. Just keep it up. Keep sending faxes, letters, emails, phone calls, etc. It ultimately does not matter what some people call you. The facts speak for themselves.

Posted by: HaMalach [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 22, 2006 11:23 PM

"The trouble these claims are not true."

Well, duh...

Muslims are prohibited to engage in honest discourse with non-Muslims ANYWAY. So I might add, what could we realistically have expected???

On second thought, don't answer that.

Posted by: pythagoras [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 22, 2006 11:26 PM

Mr. Spencer:

That was a tremendously well-written and powerful article. Hats off to you. One can only hope those who still believe in the ROP will for awaken. This article needs to be posted (or kept) near the top of the page for a while.

Multiculturalism was again discussed at my place of work. I was told that I was racist (which I most certainly am not) for criticizing Iran for Shiite temporary marriages and S. Arabia for their lack of women's rights; that both were acting within their respective "cultures and norms" and neither of them were inferior to our own culture - just different you see.

The content in the textbooks is interesting and disturbing, but the lies told by the Saudis are at least as important. Here we have the ambassador of one of our "closest strategic allies" blantantly lying about one of our nation's key requests after 9/11. Sure the Saudi's fixed their textbooks... and my 13-year-old son cleaned his room today, too.

Posted by: teachingmyown [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 23, 2006 12:40 AM

I wonder why some people are bewildered about these textbooks. What do they expect the Saudis to teach their childeren? The Holy Bible? The Torah? Buddhism? Hinduism?
Do those people not know, that the Saudis are Muslims?

Posted by: Eisvogel [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 23, 2006 4:01 AM

Wonder of wonders this actually made the CNN headlines this morning - amongst others they quoted the references to us and the jews being Pigs an Apes - I explained it to my 8 year old daughter who replied "they're crazy" - could not have put it better myself!

Posted by: johnmac [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 23, 2006 5:11 AM

Your politicians constantly demonize the Iranians and your media prints propaganda from Exiles (the hoax about the badges for Jews), while the Saudis are your best friends.
You are so addicted to oil! You sacrifice moral values and national security interests. We in Europe are not much better.

Posted by: Jorg [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 23, 2006 5:14 AM

Jorg, we do not have to demonize the Iranians, they do it to themselves quite well. as far as the hoax of the badges,(for all non muslims, this was discussed, just not passed in their government yet. and for the oil, the West buys their oil, it does not steal it. and the addiction to oil, well the US, Canada, many other WEstern countries produces the bulk of the food for the rest of the world. what do the Muslims do with their oil? do they feed the world, no they are too busy killing each other and non Muslims.
The lack of moral values comes out of the muslims, and the Saudis are the worst ones, but they will find that by teaching such hatred it will come back to bite them!

Posted by: Lulu [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 23, 2006 5:31 AM

"I explained it to my 8 year old daughter who replied "they're crazy"

That's exactly the same thing my son - who is a bit older than your daughter - said.

But they are not crazy. They are consequential and straight-lined and devotional. They teach their children nothing different from what Mohammad taught them. Why on earth should Muslims stop teaching Islam to their children?

WE ARE CRAZY. We are crazy to hope, they would change their textbooks or even their minds. We are crazy to think we could convince them to consider our "Western freedoms and human rights " more valuable than the teachings written down in their most holy "textbook", which they suppose to come straightly from the demon they scaredly worship.

Posted by: Eisvogel [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 23, 2006 5:45 AM

"WE ARE CRAZY. We are crazy to hope,"

I think anyone who understands Islam and the siruation in the world to-day must know that all this will probably never be settled peacefuly - what we have is an insane 7th century death cult with a billion members - how on earth can it ever be settled peacefull - sad but true!
Islam cannot be reformed if it could it would not be Islam - thats the conundrum of our age - we will all have to face it quite soon I belief - the muslims are forceing the issue.

Posted by: johnmac [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 23, 2006 7:42 AM

I'm sure all those textbook excerpts were taken out of context...or invented by "Zionists"...or placed by the great "sheytan bazorg" to befuddle Allah's true believers.

Keep up the good work Hugh and Robert. I'm sharing your books and giving your site's link to all my friends.

This is precisely the reason why I keep saying that in order to defeat the fascism within Islam, we need to get brave, and we need to defeat this ancient myth. We need to challenge this god and expose the impossibility of its existence. Through rational discourse, we need to disprove "allah" and weaken Islam at every philosophical angle. Attack the god, defeat the god, laugh at this god and call it what it is – a non-existent myth. So sorry if this inspires Muslims to wish harm but it’s either this or more pointless bloodshed.

No “allah” is going to come from the sky to save anyone considering how BILLIONS of lives throughout human history had begged for life only to perish in plague, genocide, violence religious conversion etc.etc.etc. Rationally speaking, this deity is worthless in the most ethical and moral sense. Unfortunately this is such an uncomfortable topic that other religious minded non-Muslims have yet to recognize Islams virtually defenseless underbelly – “allah”, the ultimate soft target.

Defeat this ridiculous and non-existent deity and the power of Islam will face it’s well deserved extinction. If we do not begin to truly threaten Islam with intellectual destruction, we may yet live to see billions burn in a war started by a myth.

Jorg,
right now, the most immediate problem we face is the rising nuclear threat from Iran. And as far as I know, the U.S. doesn't import much oil from Iran. Iran sells its oil to Europe, which is the main reason why Europe is bowing and scraping before Iran rather than standing up to it.

Oil or no oil, there is still one thing the U.S. has that Europe doesn't seem to have any more: Call it resolve, call it guts, call it balls, call it whatever you like. There was no oil in the Balkans. And yet ethnic violence was taking place there, on Europe's very doorstep, threatening to spread; but Europe couldn't summon up the will to use force to stop it.

As usual, after all the European negotiations and hand-wringing and pleas for peace had failed, what finally stopped it was the United States Air Force bombing Serbia for 78 days straight--while left-wing Germans were protesting not ethnic cleansing in the Balkans, but "U.S. imperialism." For putting its own pilots in harm's way to help stabilize southeastern Europe when Europe itself could not, the U.S. has received absolutely no credit from Europe at all.

That one incident convinced me, once and for all, that Europe is a sick continent. It will not fight to put down threats to the peace, even against pipsqueak nations like the remnants of Yugoslavia, even when no oil is involved. Where were the European armies and air forces during that crisis?

Project Samson = pull down the pillars of Islam.

We realize something must be done. People must be warned.

The lesson of history is that the temples and idols must be smashed and reshaped.

This is what the Sumerians did;
This is what the Israelites did;
This is what the Romans did;
This is what the Mayans did;
This is what the conquistadors did;

and this is what Mohammed did.

This is what happened to the Ka'baa and later to the temple mount and so on to Haga Sophia and
is what WILL happen to St. Peter's basilica if we don't get it together.

Unbelievers need to smash the idols of islam, pull down its pillars and destroy the foundation of al-Lah. That's the only idol left in the Ka'baa. The canonical history of Islam confirms this.

Let's use Islam's cannon against itself.

We need to attack the belief system and its support structure using a myriad of techniques and approaches: attack it physically, emotionally, psychologically, intellectually, sexually (empower muslimah !) philosophically, empirically and with every other -ally in the thesaraus and with any ally that wants to help us If not we go it alone... other people will join the fight when they see us winning. Nothing succeeds like success. Fighting to a stalemate and treating the issues like a criminal issue and treating jihadis like lawbreakers is plainly asinine.

The lesson of the Punic wars is this:
* attack the enemy without reservation
* destroy the idols
* pull down the temples
* mix salt with the soil
* leave

Pax Romana came about when the Romans took out Carthage and that culture could no longer mount counter-attacks.

Pax Romana began to end when the Romans allowed a million plus immigrants to settle in Rome and could no longer feed them effectively nor distract them with circuses.

The belief system needs to be attacked from every side with every angle at all times with all effort. Forget this crap about 'we have to keep our ethics and sense of fair play or else we reduce ourselves to their level'. That's the late night drunk college student bullshit session dialogue that gets people killed. you think a 22 year old college student knows how the world works or has a clue about how it should work? I was a 22 year old college student and I admit I know much more about the world now than I ever did before.

Idealism gets people killed. So does 'playing by the rules' if the enemy doesn't acknowledge same rules. Sound familiar? We've been sucker-punched three times now: World trade center, Spain railways and London.

We're in a back-alley streetfight people! Wake up!

Attack their honor, their reputations, their 'self-image'. You see, Ali Sina is right... all the cultists live in the bubble universe created by Mohammed and emulate him as sociopaths. Forget appeals to fair play and decency. Save those for your like-minded opponents in the football match. This is a streetfight.

Laugh at them. Show them you think they're idiots and describe why. Point out their 'golden example' would be in prison for what allah commanded him to do. Men's laws make more damned sense than the commands of al-lah.

They are trying to play cards with a terrible hand and the bluffing won't work if we call them out on it a few times like the cartoon crisis. Then they show it all. They are only shrewd as long as we are ignorant. Pull down the veils people!

They aren't good builders. Push hard against the temple pillars and it will all come crashing down. Provoke them and they'll actually help us knock down the whole damned thing.

Shoot the messenger this time.

The Washington Post is publishing extremely disingenuous articles on Middle Eastern Islamic educational material. This stance is particularly disingenuous because many of the organizations and agencies who know about these textbooks are located right in DC; the reporters and editors know of them and about them.

I appreciate Robert Spencer's efforts to make this Saudi "textbook" issue clear.

In fact, various entities and people for years have been translating, publishing on websites, and trying to expose/change/stop US funding for such material coming from the "Palestinian" entity, Syria, and Egypt, to name a few. These scurrilous and horrifying textbooks plus the other informative cultural information:...instructions on how to create anthrax...photos of three-year-olds with gunbelts and "bloody hands"...severed heads wrapped in plastic and kept in the refrigerator...pure evil. Surf the net to find more exposes of Islamic "educational" material, and understand that for some countries, it is funded in part by US taxpayers' dollars, whether directly or through the UN or other entities.

On another note, it's past time to let Senate and House subcommittee chairs, Senators and Reps know one's opinion on tying Israel's hands behind its back re: the "Palis", Iran, Syria, and others.
