Dick Sartain, RIP

When I spoke in late April at the America's Truth Forum Symposium in Washington, I had the honor of meeting Dick Sartain. I had corresponded with him for some time; he kindly kept me informed about his quiet activities exposing jihadist activity in the Dallas, Texas area.

People often ask me: What can I do, as a private citizen, to aid in the Resistance to the jihad? What I would answer would always be a summation of the kinds of things that Dick Sartain was doing. He frequently went to open houses and other public meetings at Dallas-area mosques, quietly collected information, and made that information available to people who could use it best. He always knew who was speaking in Dallas mosques -- and more importantly, he did the necessary research and knew their backgrounds, the organizations they belonged to, the sentiments they espoused, and the associations they had maintained.

If a mujahid or a smiling dissembler was coming to a Dallas mosque, Dick Sartain knew it. If a mosque in his area was distributing hate literature, Dick Sartain knew it. He didn't have to resort to any clandestine or underground efforts to amass this information. All he did was pay attention, and inform himself about the identities of the major players in the American Muslim community today, and their histories. And forthwith many others would know what he knew as well, and be able to plan accordingly.

I never would have written this message, as it would have prevented Mr. Sartain from continuing his work, were it not for the fact that recently Dick Sartain was killed by a drunk driver.

This is an immense loss. Dick Sartain was a hero in the defense of the West against the global jihad. I hope, however, that in the wake of his death many more like him will begin to do his work, and to expose, in the quiet and unobtrusive way that he did, the quiet and unobtrusive spread of the jihadist message in the U.S.

May his memory be eternal.

I offer my deepest condolences to his family.

Tragic irony is Mr. Sartain was also a volunteer for MADD (mothers against drunk drivers).

We can all follow the fine example set by Mr. Sartain and become actively aware of circumstances in our own communities.

So many of is sit here and talk, yet so few of us because of lack of time, lack of know-how, or lack of nerve, take those extra steps that so many common citizens would be willing to take if they only knew.

May the late Dick Sartain serve as a role model to all of those who feel overwhelmed and intimidated because we cannot crack a case or expose a conspiracy on the level of great professionals like Steven Emerson, Paul Sperry, Daniel Pipes, and Rita Katz.

On this subject, maybe it would be a good idea for those of us connected to college campuses to announce meetings of this sort on a website so those of us who have the time can attend them and take notes. Just a thought.

From The Dallas Morning News

Dick Sartain was killed by a drunk driver
Just got shocking and terribly sad news: Dick Sartain was killed by a drunk driver near White Rock Lake on Friday. Dick was known to many of us in Dallas who cared about Islamic extremism locally. Unlike many of us, Dick actually went to mosques around here and tried to engage Muslims. He told me time and time again that he found intense anti-Semitism and sympathy for intensely anti-American and anti-Western sentiments. Dick was the source who provided to me the flyer from the Irving mosque a couple of years ago advertising its shocking "Tribute to the Great Islamic Visionary the Ayatollah Khomeini." Most of the local news media ignored the story, but if not for Dick, the story would not have gotten out at all.

The thing about Dick: he was not a hothead. He was a kind and gentle soul. I always got the impression that he liked most of the Muslims he met, and he hoped that he could use what he was learning about the Koran to draw them away from extremism. His loss is a serious one to Dallas, and to all who knew him.

Hmmmm. I live in the Dallas area and wish I knew of him before this unfortunate accident. I would have liked to assist him or learn from him as much as I can.

From the Dallas Morning News blog, a writer says:

"Dick was the source who provided to me the flyer from the Irving mosque a couple of years ago advertising its shocking "Tribute to the Great Islamic Visionary the Ayatollah Khomeini." Most of the local news media ignored the story, but if not for Dick, the story would not have gotten out at all."

At the official website of the Irving Mosque, it appears that it is a Sunni Muslim mosque:

The center strives to increase Islam awareness and therefore increase the number of Muslims through Da'awa according to the holy book Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

I thought Sunni Muslims weren't supposed to be in cahoots with Shiites like the Ayatollahs of Iran. This would help put a dent in the wonderful diversity of Islam.

(Further info on the Imam (born in Pakistan) of the Irving Mosque: "he memorized the entire Qur'an and then undertook an Islamic Theologian (Aalim) course which spanned a further Eight years. Aalim course included Arabic language, Usool, Fiqh, Tafseer-ul-Quran and Hadith...")

I teach at a Catholic school in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Last week as I was copying out exams I saw that one of the instructors had given his students copies of an article taken from the Al-Jazeera website. The article basically stated that Islam does not call for the death of apostates. I doubt that the instructor (I'm still not sure who is was) was giving this to his middle school students in order to illustrate the concept of taquiya. Today I proctored exams for the Geography teacher. I noticed on the bulletin board a puff piece on Islam from the Washington Post. Does it surprise you that several of the instructors got their degrees at Georgetown?

In effect, this is the cultural inertia that we are up against in America's elite schools. We have to hit these people over the head again and again and again with the cold hard facts. That is why we need so many more Americans like Dick Sartain. How many more Americans would step up to the plate if only they had the knowledge and means for doing it?

Does anyone want to make space on their blog for a sort of calender of events where we can post taquiya events in our areas that are open to the public?

Given the accomplishment of Dick Sartain, just imaging what an army of infiltrators can do were they to better coordinate their efforts.

The comments by Andrei are disturbing and, yet, insightful. Why is it so important for certain instructors at his school to whitewash/promote Islam? Those same instuctors probably spend lots of time on the evils of the Crusades. Perhaps Andrei can organize a Martyr's Day for next fall. Put the emphasis on those dying for their faith in modern times, with special focus on those dying under the yoke of Islam. There are plenty of stories to tell. If the school objects, I would not be shy about telling some parents about the plans and see if the parents are willing to support such an event.

"Perhaps Andrei can organize a Martyr's Day for next fall."

That is an interesting idea. Unfortunately, my position here is a bit tenuous at the moment due to some disciplinary problems I had this year (kids testing the new teacher and my adjustment from teaching college). I also teach chemistry, so most would not see this as relevent to my profession.

However, I did get away with showing the Steven Emerson's visionary pre-9/11 documentary "Jihad in America" during a week that we cancelled lab. It was very well received by the students. There was however a peculiar incident where an English teacher walked into my class while we were viewing the film. He looked rather flustered. I explained to him that this was produced for pbs and offered to lend it to him. He seemed really surprised that this was from pbs and, no, he didn't want to borrow it. Fortunately, this didn't get me into any trouble with the school.

Maybe it is unprofessional for teachers to use a classroom to show materials that express their agenda. But given the garbage that this kids are recieving in other classes, I do not feel guilty. Furthermore, "Jihad in America" is a meticulously crafted documentary that was not considered controversial until CAIR succeeded in having Steven Emerson banned from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Let history be the judge.

If a mujahid or a smiling dissembler was coming to a Dallas mosque, Dick Sartain knew it. If a mosque in his area was distributing hate literature, Dick Sartain knew it.

What's telling is that it takes a non-Muslim to "know it" at all in order to inform others who don't. So what does that say about the "peaceful, moderate" Muslims who do attend these mosques regularly and "know it" as well, yet don't speak out the way Mr. Sartain did?

how do you know we don't?

Posted by: jehana [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 30, 2006 7:55 PM

"how do you know we don't?"

If there was any credence to the implied claim you're sorta kinda making, then why would it have to be a sorta kinda secret thing that's cryptically (and typically blackly nefariously cynically) being hinted at?

If the elusive "moderate Muslims" are really in the majority as you emphatically have stated, then SURELY there is no danger in shouting from the roof tops: "FBI -- there's a Muslim fascist hiding behind that Mosque -- come and arrest him!"

But instead we get greasy worms slithering into this clean well lit place whispering their lies and sedition and dissemblings.

The more you say, jehana, the more evidence there is for the treachery of the Muslim thrall.

I give you this -- you are a very smooth and subtle practitioner of your dark arts of Islam!

yes jsla, thank you for the nice compliments.

it could be that i come to this forum only to irritate you into your nefariously hilarious gyrations of rage.

and maybe your whirling jeers will clear the dust from the blurred windows of your brain, allowing a single bright light to penetrate the dim, dusky closets of your mind. and perhaps those rays might sprout a single thought devout from the feculent heaps that so gently ferment within you.

and there might even be a shot that tiny step of thought would actually be new, and useful, and trend us one step closer to ending the very real problem of violent jihad.

Posted by: jehana [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2006 12:10 AM

Oh jehana:

If annelids and leeches, viruses and carrion have their good points too, perhaps I have overlooked some of yours...

I like it when you say "trend us one step closer to ending the very real problem of violent jihad."

That little qualification is so telling -- so typical of the Muslim prevaricator -- so symptomatic of your disorder.

Hopefully you'd agree that the petri dish in which Jihad grows, this most sinful and grotesque transgression against humanity, this lie, this sewage, this culture of hatred should also be destroyed? It is called Islam. It is your religion, not mine. The filth of it is on your soul, not mine. As a Muslim, the crime of it is at your feet, not mine.

Posted by: jsla [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2006 12:53 AM

Aren't non-Muslims generally forbidden to enter Mosques? Did Mr. Sartain have to pass as a Muslim in order to get access? What happens if a non-Muslim is discovered inside a Mosque with a tape recorder or other evidence collection tools? Could they be arrested for trespassing? In the Middle East, would they be imprisoned? Or executed?

I'd like to carry on Dick Sartain's legacy, but I'd also like to know the risks involved.

Most people can go in and the pamplets are just laying around of course Dick did know how to pretend to pray go throgh the motions he only went to the ones in the USA Remember that the mulsums have their outreach programs to show that they are okay and no threat?

but they are?

I'm sure that Mr Spencer might be able to give you pointers or others who could give you some advice I don't believe he brought in tapes but he did talk to many of the mulsums and asked a lot of Q? they like to show how super they are and the truth comes out very easy and playing dumb helps well maybe not dumb but nivie as for not going in a mosque that is not correct I think it is only in places like mecca and medna

but there are always exceptions like the brit who was just at mecca learing crowd control wonder if he took good notes how to handel the mulsum stampeds at the stoning of the deviel?

Psalm112
Praise ye the Lord. Blesses is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments. His seed shall be mighty upon the earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endurth for ever
unto the upright there ariseth light in darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
a good man sheweth favour, and leadeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion,
Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the rightous shall be in everlasting remembrance.
He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.
His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, untill he see his disire upon his enemies.
He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his rightousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.
The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish

Xero G,
They saw off heads Xero G. Be very, very, informed about islam before doing this. Learn arabic, learn about islam, and only then try it. I once read a Christian went on haj to mecca. But, first he became a muslim, lived like them, went to mecca, wrote about it and then converted back to Christianity. But it took him years to get used to the ways of the mo before he tried this. And you will be running the risk of conversion of thought process like that Swiss and more recently a German lady ran. This is cult to convert the mind completely.

Posted by: arjun.sevak [TypeKey Profile Page] at May 31, 2006 6:48 AM

"I'd like to carry on Dick Sartain's legacy, but I'd also like to know the risks involved."

Actually, it is not uncommon for Muslim organizations to have meetings that are open the the general public. Look up your local chapter of CAIR on their website and see what's going on. Another source of information are flyers on college campuses or in halal food stores.

Even thought this will never be as revealing as those meetings that are only open to Muslims it may serve as your gateway to more secret meetings. Even if it doesn't, I think you will usually gleen more from these open meetings than you thought you would (by collecting flyers, recording contradictory statements and lies, and taking attendence).

That is why I encourage anyone with a blog and internet skills to organize a calender of events for infiltrators.

I would so much like to do these things but my new job and 10 month old baby are currently taking up all my time. That is also why I post much less frequently this year. In any case, I would be more than happy to post information about such meetings were I to become aware of them. Maybe next year I might actually attend a few of them...

From arjun.sevak:
"And you will be running the risk of conversion of thought process like that Swiss and more recently a German lady..."

Are you implying that without sufficient safeguards, exposure to a primitive, murderous, supremist, women subjugating, pedofile admiring, intolerant, totalitarian, death cult will become appealing? I just can't fathom how any rational person could convert to Islam (who wasn't forced or indoctrinated as a child).
