From The Khaleej Times:
AMMAN - A Jordanian court Tuesday sentenced to prison two newspaper editors for "attacking religious sentiment" by reprinting cartoons deemed offensive to Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), their lawyer said.
Jihad Momani, former editor of the weekly Shihane tabloid, and Hisham Al Khalidi, editor-in-chief of the tabloid Al Mehwar, were each sentenced to two months in prison, attorney Mohammed Kteishat told AFP.
[...]
Momeni and Khalidi both pleaded not guilty.
Their arrests have been condemned by international press watchdogs, who say journalists should not be jailed for what they publish.
Early in February, King Abdullah II said insulting the prophet was "an unjustifiable crime ... that could not be justified on the pretext of freedom of expression."
Though he later recanted, it is worth recalling Momani's comments that accompanied the cartoons:
"Muslims of the world, be reasonable... what brings more prejudice against Islam, these caricatures or pictures of a hostage-taker slashing the throat of his victim in front of the cameras or a suicide bomber who blows himself up during a wedding ceremony in Amman?"

I don't think, "what brings more prejudice against Islam" is a concern for the Jihadists.
THEY DON'T THINK THAT WAY.
They don't have the desire to be liked, appreciated, or even respected in the modern sense of the word.
If the slaughter and intimidation of infidels causes the sort of discomfort and hostility that some people call, "prejudice," that is a perfectly natural state of affairs. Infidels SHOULD hate and fear Islam.

The pedophile "prophet" Mohammed's views on press "freedom" were demonstrated by his approval of the assassination of the woman poet Asma Bint Marwan, who wrote satirical verses that mocked "the perfect man".
One of the founder of Islam's henchmen sneaked into her house in the middle of the night and ran a sword through her body as she slept, with her baby at her breast. He returned to receive the congratulations of Mohammed for his "service to the faith". The "prophet" remarked, when the killer asked if anyone would speak up in revolt against the Asma Bint Marwan murder: "Two goats won't butt their heads together over her death" (in modern mob language: "Fuggeddaboutit!").
If Jordan's "king" weren't worried about Western perceptions and aid, these two journalists would already be "sleeping with the fishes".
They're lucky we're watching. As the apostate to Islam, Mr. Rahman of Afghanistan, was as well.
Islam, when in power, only reins-in its most murderous Koranically-based desires under the harshest scrutiny.
Keep an eye on Islam needs to be the watchword of the West.

Remember that it was a time when we did not have high tech stuff that has now made the earth one big global village. "The prophet" could now not be able to get away with that stuff. In other words, from a recent movie about a father-in-law meeting his new son-in-law, "we are watching you".

**They don't have the desire to be liked, appreciated, or even respected in the modern sense of the word.**
That's correct, Snippet. Far from it!
We have a proverb: "It's impossible, to nail a pudding to a wall". That's the situation the jihadists are confontated with - we being the pudding. That's the reason for their terror attacks and their torrents of hatred and so on.
They need our self-defense - in words and in actions - to convince their followers that we are attackers of Islam and must be battled against. That's wht the "Palestenians" have successsfully done to Israel for decades.
Doing without self-defense and just staying the "pudding" - as some suggest - cannot be the solution. They would't stop provoking us until we finally react as they want.

Their courage shames those in the West who refused to print the cartoons.

Moderation...
I suppose that would be one who does not pour acid or other volatile materials on a body before or after beheading.

Slightly off topic but didn't the poor guy Momani at least try and get off the rap by pointing out that Jihad was his first name.
surely counts even more than Jihad being your middle name.
"your honour, jihad is my f*****g name!"

I have noticed many apologists list Jordan as an example of a "progressive" Muslim nation. Possibly in some areas, but they live in the same ideological neighborhood as all of the others as far as I am concerned.

Does this mean that Paul Krugman and Stephen Colbert are not gonna do any time?

As for "moderate" Muslim countries?
France? Yes.
Jordan? No.
