I was returning home tonight, and as I passed a mosque, I saw muslims approaching it. They wore the standard islamic garb, sack clothes, and skull caps. I noted the time, 9:45 PM. They have recently started meetings in mosques that commence at 10. This activity I have seen recently. Another poster wrote about it. What could it mean ? Is it significant ?

As part of the written part of our Constitution, enacted in 1982, Canada has a Charter of Rights and Freedoms which give the courts power to protetect said rights and freedoms from the actions of governments. Previous to the Charter, the Canadian paliarment (and, in separate acts, the provinces) had passed a Bill of Rights - hence the reference to thirty years ago.

Canada is indeed a rogue state, in the sense that it is ruled in good part by unelected judges and a form of liberalism that is often disconnected from reality.

I recall many years ago a young offender in Vancouver complained to a judge that his jailers were mocking him. He had been arrested for the brutal maiming and killing of captive flamingos at Stanley Park and was arrested and held in a youth detention centre.

Apparently whenever he encountered a guard, the fellow would lift one leg, imitating a flamingo at rest, as a form of ridicule.

The judge was very sympathetic and explained to the young offender that that was just too too bad - the telling of the incident raised quite a laugh in the open courtroom and made the TV/radio news and papers.

Yup, what we have here is a failure to communicate!

Here is my 5 rupees worth. I think that the only thing you really need to insist on here is that the Quality of the speakers is very high.

There is nothing more annoying than LOUD speakers cackling, breaking up and distorted, sometimes travelling through Lahore drives me potty having to listen to bad speakers.

Remember that a good loudspeaker must create the illusion of being inside the mosque and lets you hear the emotional message that the imam will weave either at 5am in the morning or at 10pm at night.

The loudspeaker must be loud without distorting, this will involve the use of good qality components of the speaker crossover ...which must be smooth as the imam picks the pitch and this can be highly emotive both for the imam and the listeners ....that is YOU today and your childrens in the next generation.

Also the loudspeaker should have no "sound" at all during the quiet periods of the imam's message.

In other words, it should be completely transparent, an open door to the imam's performance if you will.

So while you cannot stop the speakers going up in the minerets...INSIST on them being the highest quality.... you can help by money collection for the speakers...muslims always make "collectors of money for Islamic causes" most welcome.

What struck me most in the day following the Toronto arrests was seeing the press conference photo of the Canadian police official being eyed impatiently and expectantly by a group of Muslim community leaders in Ontario. Clearly the assumption on the part of those community leaders was that the municipal, provincial, and federal authorities were obligated as a matter of priority to account to them, to provide them with assurances, to satisfy their concerns about possible backlash, criticism in the media, etc. Why do the Canadians need to be the ones doing the assuring? It seems to me that if anyone should be called upon to account, and required to provide assurances it is those very Muslim leaders. After all most of those arrested were subjected by the peers of those community leaders to ongoing and intense anti-western radicalization in the Toronto-area mosques.

There could be a precident set here though. Naseem, In Christianity, garish displays of one's faith is considered bad form. I consider it hypocracy. Christ taught me to be subdued in displays of my faith. One does not have to sit, kneel, or stand in a particular position or place to pray. Lots of Christian Churches have given up bells because Christians can tell time and know when the seevices start. What good does it do for the artillery spotter to stand in the minaret and broadcast in Arabic when no one within ear shot speaks Arabic?

I am of the Methodist denomination and was taught that a church was just a building. The true church is the congretation. Have you ever seen a good ole fashioned Southern tent revival?

I say: torture the fockers!

See if I care what happens to them.

My reasoning: those who seek to destroy a civilization are not entitled to enjoy the benefits of that civilization (in this case that would be the Geneva Convention). Torturing jihadists might also, incidentally, prove a strong deterrent for Muslims thinking about becoming mujahidin fighters--perhaps the only deterrent we are presently aware of. And thereby torture (an ugly practice I would NEVER otherwise consider for anything or anyone else) could end up saving innocent civilian lives!

And by the way, I do not believe torturing terrorists is going to trickle down to the remainder of the population of North America. Nor do I, however, recommend it to be used for any other purpose.

ps-wouldn't it be nice to see western Europeans go after the countries that (without any just cause at all) routinely torture and massacre their own people (Sudan, Iran, China and many, many others). Nearly 3 million dead and counting in Sudan from its unending jihad wars with the violence spreading into Chad, and western Europe unable to avert its eyes from the mostly imagined horrors of Gitmo while the real ones in Sudan multiply...

Like a kid about to go to a movie! She was actually happy. No anger or concern. Just thrill. Happy that the old '60s were back again. So much for being anti-war.

This is totally OT, but I've got no place else to post it. Living in a border city in CAnada, though, I am furious that anyone could claim that the Canadians are torturing anyone.

Right now, my eldest son is at work, guarding a construction site for Habitat For Humanity. As in the past two years, H for H homes here have all gone to Muslims and are being built within a two-block area surrounding the big Shia mosque here. The one whose members held the demonstration about the Mo cartoons back in February and scared my kids half to death. That mosque.

Anyway, the neighbourhood used to be nice here, but H for H has begun accelerating urban blight. The homes built in the two previous years are ruined- no grass in the yard, glass broken out of many of the windows, garbage all over the property, they are a scandal.

Tonight, my son is trying to prevent the looting and vandalism that occurs at these sites. Show of hands, who can guess who the looters are? Y'all are clever, I think you've figured it out - the Muslims in our neighbourhood, the ones getting the free homes, they're the ones carrying off building supplies as fast as their nasty little legs can move. I won't be sleeping tonight, I keep driving over to check on my child.

Oh- and before the children in the other homes went to bed, he got to see them playing. Innocent little children, right? And so, when the favourite game turned out to be that one boy would wrap a big black cloth belt around his waist, run into the middle of the other boys and yell,"Allah akbar, allahu akbar,BOOM! We're all dead!" and then the martyr would race towards the girls, all of whom would hug and kiss him and cheer wildly, well, my child called me in tears, he said he was almost going to throw up. This is my fully grown, six foot black belt in karate - crying after watching these children practice his death. The children, he says, were between 8 and 12.

Ok, rant over. It's too sickening to even know what to do about this kind of BS. Just, don't ever make the mistake of thinking that it can't happen in your neighbourhood. Honestly, it probably already is. I'm moving back to the US, at least there you can still talk about this stuff without being afraid of being charged under hate crime legislation.

I wouldn't try to suggest that Canada doesn't have plenty of looney Leftists and hippies of the blood-thirsty type you mention. On balance, though, there seems to me a different level of public discourse from the media especially compared to the U.S. The CBC didn't update the story on the lawyer's complaints at all, and it drifted back to local news on their website. Compare that to the U.S. media that hangs on like a bulldog when their is the scent of blood on anything that might be twisted (totally irrationally) to make the President look bad.

Is Canadian liberal political discourse as irrational and hate-filled as the Left-driven media/discourse is in the U.S.? It doesn't seem so to me from the CBC and Toronto papers that I look at from time to time.

There are tensions in my city now. Hindus are riled up and this imam has gone into hiding behind his ummah.

It is too bad that there isn't a half chance that you couldn capture this "game" on tape. This is sick - just sick. I can guarantee you that here in the US if the parents were not muslim Social Services would be yanking those kids out of their "homes" and prosecuting the parents for child abuse so fast their heads would spin.

I hope that you will at least dig out the video cam and have your child document what he saw on tape. Then I suppose you had best lock the thing up in a safety deposit box, cause I sure wouldn't want my child's name and face out there.

Point is, such butchery is expected from every muslim. Whoever wants to infilter must be prepared to pass all these 'tests'.

I am a Hindu but India is not a muslim dominated country. We have a 13% population of muslims. That is sufficient to incite riots in the whole of India.

Lulu, wow- angry much? Toronto is a wonderful city- and even if it isn't, it is in my country. I'm not in an especially big hurry to have any part of it destroyed by Muslims, thanks.

And gallopingranny, a video cam is a great idea! I'm off to Best Buy to price them. I'm sure stuff like this happens all the time. My child will not be guarding that site again - I was over there half the night to make sure he was ok. We've also agreed he will not join the other guards in his company to guard the mosque down the street, which has been under heavy guard since the Muslims in Toronto were arrested.

For the first story in your link, it apparently has a happy ending - the girl was rescued from the clutches of Islam. (Note: Ignore the cops whitewashing it and making it look like she voluntarily converted; that's no different from a different incident in Aligarh where they circumcized a dead Hindu and buried him as a Muslim.)

That story was the most disturbing in the list of links you provided - the others were just the garden variety dhimmitude prevailent worldwide, not just India.

Such a website in India would risk getting shut down. However, despite the apparent Western centricity of J/W and D/W, Robert et al do a better job of covering "communal" incidents in India than the Indian MSM, which is no different from here. Granted, it could be potentially more exhaustive, but we're happy.

Infidel Pride -- what about establishing it here but with a focus on India. They coudn't do much to shut it down then, I would think.

I have all along thought that India will end up being one of the most important allies against Islamic Jihad in the coming decades. She must be cultivated properly for this task. Our Governments can be circumvented since they are not taking the proper steps yet. Elsewhere it's been noted that this will have to be a ground up operation -- gradually alerting everyman about the threat -- and incrementally making our "leadership" understand which way WE want the wind to blow -- Not the elites, and certainly not the Muslims!

The Internet is the ultimate manifestation of WE THE PEOPLE if we use it in this manner.

They could do it, but in India, depending on the ISPs involved, access to such sites could be curtailed. Although given Arjun Sevak and other Hindus who post here (I myself am in the US left coast), it probably hasn't happened as yet.

The problems are the same everywhere. You have the same type of dhimmi governments in India that you do here. Only difference is that in the populace, despite the apparant "secularism" of most Hindus, they know better. There isn't much of a social interaction between Hindus and Muslims, and privately, I'll bet that most Hindus will tell you what you hear from many Hindus here. They may fall short of supporting any counter-measures against Muslims, under the mistaken notion that it would lead to riots, but make no mistake - they have no illusions about what Muslims are really like. It isn't so much a case of PC, except in educational institutions.

Particularly in the last 10 years. Not just 9/11, but since the 1998 war with Pakistan in Kashmir, where prominent Muslims refused to publicly support India against Pakistan.
