10 workers kidnapped from Baghdad bakery

Sunni-Shi'ite Jihad Update from AP:

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Gunmen seized 10 workers from a bakery Sunday in a predominantly Shiite neighborhood in Baghdad, while a car bomb exploded near a university in the northern city of Mosul, killing a woman and wounding 19 other people, police said.

The scattered attacks came after a day of unrelenting violence that killed more than two dozen people as insurgents foiled heightened security measures, dealing a blow to the Iraqi government's pledge to bring peace to the capital....

Police also found the bullet-riddled bodies of 10 men who showed signs of torture in several areas of Baghdad, and the body of a man who was shot in the head was found in Karbala, 50 miles south of the capital....

The spree of bombings and mortar attacks in the Baghdad area — including eight attacks Saturday that killed at least 27 people and wounded 27 — was an embarrassment for Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, who ordered more police and army checkpoints for the city last week to restore security for its 6 million residents.

americaningermany,
The link you posted does not work. The dreaded Error 404 comes up.

I guess those bakery workers were seen making prune or cheese danish pastry! Off with the heads of the enemies of Islam, who bake Infidel comestibles!

These people are addicted to killing. It's like a drug for them. They can't function without it. Like a sick compulsion.Maybe it's possible to get hooked on slaughtering because of the rush of power and sense of righteous purpose it gives, in a similar way to various infamous serial killers. This is in fact a form of collective serial killing with the same psychopathology.
Come to think of it, ideology itself is a drug, a narcotic that tranquilises people out of self awareness, a desperate defiance of life itself,an existential cop-out. Marx failed to realise that ideology (and he spawned one) is the opium of the masses. And that's what Islam is---a fabricated ideology rooted in a profound and fearful superstitiousness and irrationality. A clear and very present danger that must be halted to safeguard our freedoms.
How can you heal a billion and a half people hypnotised and enslaved by a fraudulent doctrine and psychopathology?

To be fair, baking bread is an immoral activity that needs to be clamped down on.

Posted by: Celsius [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2006 10:17 AM

Please put the retarded jokes on hold. Killing bakers is effective guerrilla warfare. Count on these Islamo-demons to come up with it, it's been going on for a while. Bakeries are more important in Iraq and are usually neighborhood bakeries. They make a bread that is eaten every day by Iraqis. This is how the Jihadist Islamo-demons spread fear, emulating the man they worship who said in a Hadith-

Sunni-Shi'ite Jihad Update

I have been wondering whether it is appropriate to speak of 'Jihad' between Muslims. I know that Zarqawi considered Shiites to be heretics, but I wonder whether it is quite precise to label the sectarian conflict between Shiites and Sunnis as Jihad-inspired.

Bakeries are a favorite target because Mohammad condemned them.

Statues destroyed in Egypt. Is Germany next or Italy? Bernini or the Sistine Chapel? Or the Louvre?

americaningermany~

that's a good video

the third world should try family planning / or birth control, then they wouldn't be busting at the seams. Especially Pakistan.

In Africa the average women is still having 9 or 10 children. Bill Gates is going to work on keeping all of the alive but no mention of birth control and when the famine happens, and it surely will, will he get any blame?

Sunnis murder Shiites without mercy, like sheep. I'm beginning to wonder if Sunni Islam isn't indee TRUE Islam and Shiites are a sect of Buddhism or Hinduism as passive as they are. Aren't true Muslims willing to fight for Allah and not be slaughtered like sheep? As I look at Iran, a predominantly Shiite state, what are they doing about this relentless slaughter of their fellow Shiites? Seems the only thing Iran is concerned with is wiping Israel off the map? Why don't they threaten to wipe Sunnis off the map? Sunni Islam must be true Islam? How could it be otherwise since Shiites are perfectly willing to be murdered by Sunnis without cause?

Borg,
Every civilized society has limited offsprings. It is only the muslims, who are ordered to outbreed and therefore outnumber us infidels. And they are doing it.

Posted by: arjun.sevak [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2006 2:06 PM

Benjamin-

It is a true "jihad" if one sect thinks the other is so heretical that they become apostates.

The Sunnis in Iraq are using this religious rationale to try to regain power. (Sunnis ARE the global majority, so they feel they should rule everywhere, even within Shi'ite majority Iraq.) The Shi'ites, meantime, are throwing it back at their Sunni 'cousins', feeling the same way about their heresy.

Jihad against one another.

Wish I had thought of it.

But, as arjun.sevak notes, I'm more concerned with the two U.S. servicemen taken during an attack over the weekend.

I hope it is simply a ransom plot.

One that backfires on the bastards who did it.

Let the Muslims kill each other, and allow us naively rebuild their pestholes un-molested.

BTW, those African boat people are coming in from predominantly Muslim countries in Africa!

That may well be. However, this phenomenon is, at least in part, not a spontaneous one but one that has been caused by that unspeakably foul organization the EU. Factory trawlers from the EU are sweeping up the fish in waters off Africa and taking the livelihood of African fishermen. If the EU hadn't stolen the poor swines' fish, they might have stayed put and not added to Europe's immigration nightmare. For sure, the Africans' government's have been paid off by the EU: but the fishermen aren't going to see that money; Swiss bankers will.

From the Telegraph

EU fishing leads to Africans' flight

The BBC last week excitably reported that nine EU countries have offered ships and planes to Spain, to help stem the flood of West Africans prepared to risk their lives crossing in fragile wooden boats to the Canary Islands.

Some 9,000 have already made it this year, while at least 1,500 have died in the attempt. EU governments are concerned because, once the Africans have reached Spanish soil, they are free after 40 days to settle anywhere in the EU, including Britain.

What the BBC predictably failed to explain was the major cause of this human disaster, one of the real scandals of our time. This is the devastation being wreaked along the west coast of Africa by hundreds of large foreign trawlers, which are destroying the livelihoods and often the lives of local fishermen.

Conspicuous among these are Spanish and Portuguese boats, allowed into these waters under the so-called "Third World fisheries agreements" negotiated by the EU, for which EU taxpayers have shelled out more than £2 billion (some £250 million contributed by Britain) to the governments of countries such as Mali, Senegal and Mauritania.

Most of this money, as has been well documented, goes to a small ruling class of politicians and officials.

The African fishermen cannot compete. Thousands have died, simply because their tiny craft are run down by the foreign trawlers pillaging the same fishing grounds - hence their desperation to escape to Europe.

This murderous and corrupt system originated with the admission to the EC of Spain, with the largest and most environmentally destructive fishing fleet in Europe.

To buy off Spain's right of "equal access" to European waters, Brussels hands over these astronomic sums to allow its fleet to destroy Third World waters instead.

The shining exception is Namibia which, having shut out the European invaders, has now built up its own sustainable modern fishing industry, employing thousands of local people and worth £10 billion.

Such a ludicrous situation would never have arisen had Edward Heath not agreed to surrender Britain's fishing waters as a condition of our entry into the EC in 1973.

Part of the price that we continue to pay, 33 years later, is that when thousands of desperate Africans have struggled to the nearest EU landfall, they are free, if they wish, to move on to the UK.

It takes the BBC to present this complex human tragedy only in terms of how EU countries are now co-operating to force the Africans back whence they came; in other words, as no more than another glorious triumph for European integration.

Note that the BBC "predictably failed to explain" what was going on. Political correctness dictates that the EU can commit no wrong. This even trumps sympathy for people in the Third World on one occasion where they undoubtedly do deserve some. I'm not sentimentalizing the fishermen men here. Europe has more immigrants than it can comfortably absorb already, and there is no reason to believe they'd fit in well there. But perhaps they should have been left in peace with their own natural resources.

americaningermany - the video you linked to really is awesome. Especially the way he uses the gumballs in the latter part to demonstrate the futility of trying to "rescue" the 3rd world by immigration. It has an email feature which allows it to be forwarded. I hope lots of people use it.

americaningermany-

Good link. Thanks.

Immigration as a "...a nourishing stream instead of a raging river...".

What a concept!

How come our panderers in Congress, especially the Senate, can't see it?

Blinded by green?

americaingermany - another thing which I think the guy in the video that you linked to did well - was point out that Americans DO welcome immigants - but it is the current immigration POLICY which they object to. He basically said - don't take the implications of this out on immigrants themselves. Rather, understand the big picture and address the overall immigration policy to your representatives. I admired the way he went about defusing in advance the firestorm which could potentially be unleashed by the crazier members of society in response to the overall points he is making.

The parallel point where this forum is concerned would be the difference between personally knowing and caring about individual Muslims one has met vs the overall implications of admitting a whole lot of Muslims to the west. As voters we need to be able to step back and see the big picture and judge what is best from a policy perspective for the society as a whole, while not taking any of this out on Muslims as individual human beings.

But if people refuse to do that - if they refuse to be "mean" - or "mean-spirited" as the video put it - then they will have bloodshed on their hands for their refusal to 'feel bad for a day' by doing what logic clearly shows to be the right thing to do in the long run to confront the crisis which the west is clearly facing all over the map. (One simply can't remake human nature in a day no matter how much one might dream of doing so. It is irresponsible to think that one is going to get by ultimately on "a wing and a prayer").

The 1968 generation behaved like irresponsible children in every sense. If the WWII generation was "the greatest generation" then I think the 1968 generation is certainly in the running for the "worst generation ever". Maybe Teddy Kennedy will even go down in infamy (although perhaps it isn't fair to link him to 1968, seeing as how he was actually born many years before). It's still not too late to turn all the folly around, however (sober up and face reality, as it were), although the time to do so is clearly running out...

Posted by: Caroline [TypeKey Profile Page] at June 18, 2006 9:59 PM

Ted Kennedy was instrumental in changing the immigration law into what it is today, leading to the problems in the US.

Borg: "Ted Kennedy was instrumental in changing the immigration law into what it is today, leading to the problems in the US."

Yes indeed he was. Which is why I suggest that his name could possibly go down in infamy in the history of the U.S. (depending, I suppose, on how things come out in the long run.)

As soon as Haliburton is done syphoning off all Iraq's oil to our hidden underwater tankers, we should declare victory and get the hell outta there.
Let the Sunnis and Shiites enjoy their apocalypse without the Kafir distractions.

Actually, U S immigration law requires that the immigrant be able to understand basic English, but that is routinely ignored. If you would see the swearing in ceremonies they show immigrants who do not repeat the words and do not even raise their right hand, so basically they are not really even taking the oath. They just stand there.

The US doesn't need any more lawyers. But a doctor who couldn't get in? That shouldn't happen. I would be curious to know the details about that and about the guy taking the test in Spanish. Sounds wrong. Shouldn't happen. Needs to be looked into. The law completely being slapped around.
