Miami arrests update: "Arrests in Sears Tower terror plot," from the Chicago Sun Times:
At least seven people were arrested Thursday after federal agents launched a raid in Miami on a group that allegedly plotted to attack the Sears Tower and government buildings in south Florida -- and at least one reputed cell member had visited Chicago for intelligence gathering, law enforcement sources said."They were trying to collect information about the Sears Tower," one source said. The Chicago Police Department was involved in the investigation through the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force, the source said.
The alleged terrorist cell discussed destroying government facilities in Miami, including an FBI building, and picked the Sears Tower, the nation's tallest building, as a "high-profile target," the source said....
A federal law enforcement official told the Associated Press the alleged plotters were mainly Americans with no apparent ties to al-Qaida or other terrorist organizations. More details were to be released today....
Residents living near the warehouse said the men taken into custody described themselves as Muslims and had tried to recruit young people to join their group.
The men slept in the warehouse, said Tashawn Rose, 29. ''They would come out late at night and exercise. It seemed like a military boot camp,'' she said....
Rose said she talked to one of the men about a month ago: ''They seemed brainwashed. They said they had given their lives to Allah.''...
While the federal law enforcement official said there were no obvious links to al-Qaida, MSNBC and CNN were reporting those being held were "radical black Muslims," and that one suspect had pledged allegiance to Osama bin Laden.
However, an AP story suggests that they are not orthodox Muslims, unless this is just an attempt at deception:

"They said they had given their lives to Allah."
Residents said FBI agents spent several hours in the neighborhood showing photos of the suspects and seeking information. They said the men had lived in the area for about a year.
Benjamin Williams, 17, said the group sometimes had young children with them. At times, he added, the men "would cover their faces. Sometimes they would wear things on their heads, like turbans."
A man who called himself Brother Corey and claimed to be a member of the group told CNN late Thursday that the individuals worship at the building and call themselves the "Seas of David."
He dismissed any suggestion that the men were contemplating violence. "We are peaceful," he said. He added that the group studies the Bible and has "soldiers" in Chicago but is not a terrorist organization.

The person who said what she said, got it right. These five men had their brains washed.

The evidence is mounting that the Black Muslims of the U.S. are to be the
"useful idiots" in this conflict. This is not the first incident involving
them and it won't be the last. This in spite of the fact that they will be
discarded like yesterdays trash when their usefulness expires.

the news statement is pretty ambiguous. " studied the bible" and "soldiers" in one sentance. Is this a dhimmi press concoction of a christian radical movement to pacify dhimmi islamic moderates by giving example of potential christian terrorists. This Brother Corey character deserves more investigation from a spin campaign angle

A large number of black prison inmates pick up Islam in prison. They are actively recruited there. Most of these men are losers anyway and being anti social to begin with, Islam is a perfect fit. It tells them Allah allows them to kill, rape, and plunder. Which is fine with them, after all they are already in prison for killing raping and plundering. Besides they do not like the happiness and love a law abiding society offers, again this is in agreement with the teaching of Islam. In Islam, all that matters is Allah and he says it is the Islamic way to kill, rape and plunder.
It does not surprise me to hear Black Muslims are plotting to kill Americans.

Doing web searches for "Seas of David" turns up nothing. I'm wondering if the name was mis-heard and they're something like "Seals of David", and are connected to Yahweh ben Yahweh? According to here, the "Nation of Yahweh" leader was active in Miami.
Another interesting tidbit is that the Yahwehs are active in Canada. Could there be a link to the Canadian terror cells?

Let's turn these people over to the military once they are arrested. If they go through our court system, they'll just wind up preaching jihad when they go to the pen.

When these people give their lives to allah, they might as well do it using a razor blade. Dead is dead. The only difference is one is walking.
There is no redeeming value in islam. There is no life, no culture , no happiness, no joy, no nothing. If there is any satisfaction in islam, it is only hate, killing, rape, slavery, cruelty and silly how-to's on wiping, eating, bathing and blowing Satan out of one's nose. Some stuff parents should teach instead of the war manual.
I think ole mo was such a miserable insane breather and being jealous of the rest of the world, wanted everyone to be JUST like him.

I think someone reporting misunderstood "Seeds of David" -for the meaningless "Seas..."- in this story. (ROM. 1:3- "...Jesus...who was born of the Seed of David...").
Journalists generally have no literary or historical underpinnings, and would be unlikely to understand any references other than pop cultural.

- Why is the term "brain washing" used when the subject's noodle is filled with all sorts of dreck?
- And why does Brother Corey describe his group as "peaceful" yet comprised of "soldiers?"
- And if his group studies the Bible, why do they declare they have given their lives to Allah? Are there other English-speaking Christians who also express their devotion so?
