This one is for those who do not yet understand that Israel is facing the same jihad as the rest of us. From AKI, with thanks to Sr. Soph:
Jakarta, 3 July (AKI) - Indonesian Muslim cleric Abu Bakar Bashir, considered the spiritual leader of the al-Qaeda linked militant group Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), has called on Indonesia to send holy warriors to fight in Israel in response to the recent airstrikes by the Israeli forces on the Palestinian territories. The Associated Press reported that Bashir called Israel the "enemy of Allah" and said that is why Indonesia "should send holy warriors there." He was addresssing hundreds of members of the Muslim-based Crescent Star Party in the Indonesian capital Jakarta....The United States and the United Nations have listed JI as a terrorist organisation and both Malaysia and Singapore have already banned the organisation. Despite JI's connection with such violence, in Indonesia the group hasn't been banned or branded a terrorist organisation. The main aim of JI is to create an Islamic Caliphate in South-East Asia.
On Sunday, thousands of people from a Muslim group known as the Islamist Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), were reported to have gathered in front of the US embassy in Jakarta to denounce the military offensive by Israel and to show support for the Palestinian people. The protestors also shouted anti-American slogans and accused Israel of human rights violations. They condemned Israel's military operation in Gaza and demanded the release of Palestinian officials who had been arrested.

These news quickly become boring. They're always the same. Of course Muslims around the world will complain about Israeli aggression while utterly ignoring everything the Palestinians do. What else is new?

Why do they protest in front of our embassy when their beef is with Israel? Is it because that's the usual meeting place?

No, not their usual meeting place:
Collective guilt!
Mohammedans will go out of their way to explain to you that "we can not punish all Muslims for the actions of a few"- but you will always find that in times of Koran rage or Cartoon-rage or Pali-kidnapping rage, the ummah goes on the war-path to spill the blood of any western national since we are all the 'enemy of Islam..."

should send holy warriors there….
Hamas doesn’t need more holy warriors to destroy Israel.
The scowling countenance of Condi Rice can stop the IDF dead in their tracks just as they enter Gaza; and the sound of her high heels stamping in the deep pile carpets of certain posh D.C. offices, followed by her wagging finger -- can do more damage to Israel than a gazillion Islamic suicide murderers!
Surrender Israel! Its slightly more honorable than the suicide you are committing now!
Either that, or find another Golda Mier asap!

"Why do they protest in front of our embassy when their beef is with Israel? Is it because that's the usual meeting place?"
-- from a posting above
The obvious answer is that there is no embassy of Israel in Jakarta, though Wahid (the head of one Indonesian "moderate" Muslim group, once spoke wistfully of establishing such relations --don't know if he quite meant it, or if he was doing so for Wolfowitz's benefit when the latter was becoming so milseadingly informed about Islam during his stint as the American ambassador to Indonesia).
The only slightly less obvious answer is that the United States is the leader of the Infidel camp. It is truly the "Great Satan." It is the most powerful Infidel country, the country that is most resolute and whose people are least inclined to have lost faith in themselves. It is an anomaly in many ways, including the most important: the central role not only of Christianity, but of an Old-Testament infused Christianity, that can be seen all the way from the early settlers of Massachusetts Bay creating a new Zion, a City Upon a Hill (who were these Puritans, if not Old-Testament prophets, future roundheads rather than cavaliers, early exiled to Leiden until setting out for the New-Found-Land as their own Promised Land?) to the gospel music based on those Old Testament tales? Europe always had high-style, hifalutin' versions of Christianity, too sophisticated by three-quarters, unable to cope with things as they now are. The American version fits the bill, and will endure, and should prevail.
Muslims everywhere know that they must work to weaken America using the same techniques, in part, used to weaken Israel. As Israel has been under steady propaganda assault that has helped turn even normally sensible, but grossly misinformed, Europeans against it (and made them sympathetic to the shock troops of the disguised Jihad), so in Western Europe Arab money, Arab and Muslim agents, and non-Muslim Western hirelings and congenital haters of what they devoutly believe to be the United States, all holy-rollers and cowboys and Klan members and plutocrats, rolled into one, but which is an absurd caricature, now works to separate Europeans from Americans. And with success.
If they succeed, and if Europe continues to be islamized through Da'wa and demographic conquest, then those too-sophisticated-by-half Europeans, including those who participated in, or did nothing to oppose, the fashionable, by now almomst mechanical, scoffing at the poor, misunderstood, generous, inarticulate, well-meaning United States, will realize, as Kurt Tucholsky fleeing Nazi Germany for Sweden realized with a pang, that their own misunderstanding had helped to undo them, and that American common sense, and that Christianity's role in American history and American life. so mismunderstood in Europe, was not to be mocked but to be understood as essential to its ability to withstand the Muslim mental assault.

Christian heritage and culture is all fine and dandy, but I don't think we should rely on it in order to combat Islam. There are people who would love to see a fundamentalist Christian Europe. I'd rather live in a secular world.
Why do we need more Christianity to keep Islam at bay? If people don't care that their entire civilization is being destroyed, I don't see how talking about Jesus is going to make any difference whatsoever. We've made a lot of progress, and we shouldn't piss it all away by reverting back to religious fundamentalism (Muslim or Christian).

What is worse than condemning actions of one side while totally ignoring the actions of the other is this big pretend about being civilized. These Moslems pretend to be civilized or pretend to care about the other person as a person. Is not a psychopath or sociopath someone who gets off on torturing or mistreating the other? Freedom of religion is not a freedom to criminality.

Straight out of prison old bucktooth doesn't waste any time:
Right back to the Jihad!
"Bambamg Yudhiyono (many spellings be upon him!) doesn't dare touch him, the police doesn't dare touch him, (they are Muslim, they are ALL muslim!) so old Bucktooth will continue spreading his poison, he will find many willing 'martyrs'- (not that he himself would ever blow his ass up for Allah...)
but for the stupid, the illiterate, the simple minds, (and there are many among the 300 million Indonesian muslims) he is a hero, a great 'mujahid' a warrior for allah, and so the reign of terror continues...
Sorry Bali! Sorry Balinese!
Sorry, sorry to Indonesia: You have truly gone down.....down...going...still going....

This should give Israel free leave to deal with this bashir in their own way, given the right time and opportunitiy. This viscious cockroach is almost demanding that someone dispatch him to hades. The Aussies should have first dibs, though.

First Comment
I don't know Indonesia geography very well, but didn't they just have a terrible earthquake which killed and displaced hundreds of people? Shouldn't they send their "holy" warriors to build shelter and tend to their fellow displaced muslims before they run off on some
Second Comment:
Regarding Secularism versus Christianity to combat islam, I don't see how you can really combat islam with anything but Christianity. It is a theological battle as much is it is an ideological one. Most Christians I know are not calling for the forced conversion or killing of "non-believers". I don’t think you need to worry about the so called "Christian Fundamentalist" movement taking away your "right" to reject God if sadly thats what you really want to do. Sure their are a few extremists, which are roundly discredited by the larger Christian community unlike in the muslim community.
Second, it seems that many secularists feel Christians are the real enemy and not muslims. This is in full throttle in Europe and news of it is everywhere and easy to find. The few Christians left in Europe are under constant attack for their beliefs and moral values. Possibly more to come:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060629/ap_on_re_eu/vatican_family
"We worry especially that, with current laws, speaking in defense of life and the rights of families is becoming in some societies sort of a crime against the state..." Cardinal Alfonso Lopez Trujillo
I appreciate the contributions secularists make against islam, however the secular press and media seem to heavily attack and mock Christianity while showing the greatest "respect" (read fear) of islam. If the popular secular movement put as much effort into fighting islam as it has in fighting and mocking Christianity, its efforts would bear greater fruit.
Many Europe countires are clearly secular/neo-pagan cultures, and in places such as Sweden they have almost fully rejected Christianity, taking it out of their society at large. Moral values are considered hate crimes, well, if your Christian that is. That rule doesn't seem to apply to muslims. Its safe to say that this has contributed to the atmosphere in which islam has thrived.
Asking a muslim OF CONSIENCE (read: non-fanatical who you can do nothing with anyways) to reject God is a hopeless task, asking them to reconsider who God is and reevaluate what they believe is how to ultimately fight the ideology of islam.

From article: Bashir called Israel the "enemy of Allah" and said that is why Indonesia "should send holy warriors there.
Allah hates the guts of apes and pigs. He also hates any non beleiver. This is reason enough to not only send 'holy warriors'(what a joke that is) to Isreal, but everywhere non beleivers and the dreaded apes and pigs reside. Enemies of Allah must be defeated/killed wherever they are found. Thats nearly everywhere.
I wonder if Bashir is going to pay transportation costs for thousands of these 'warriors' (call a cab) or are they all going to hitch hike to Israel and points beyond.
I think in reality, Bashir is like lots of other noisy clerics...tooting his own horn and feathering his own nest...Allah knows best...dont forget that Gabriel blows his horn for Allah...a tuba. Requires lots of hot air to play it...

duh_swami,
bashir only has to provide encouragement to jihadis. The ones who want to go there will always have sponsors who will do their bit for the jihad against infidels. They will get transportation all right.

David England-
Kudos!
"Freedom of religion is not freedom for criminality."
That would be the end of Islam, as we know it.

The 'cause' of the "Palestinian people" is the biggest scam on the planet. All the 'Palestinians' are in fact is Arab jihadists squatting on Jewish-held land and saying theit territory is being "occupied" by the Jews.
The Muslims all know this too. They do not deserve any sympathy.

Here we go again. I pray we can get angry enough in the United States to finally start turning tincans into tanks and do what must be done. Not 10 years from now. Not 5 years from now. TODAY.
If the U.S.A. really supported a war because we understood our future and the lives of our children swing in the balance, we could field a military the likes of which has never been conceived of by the world. I just don't know if we have the backbone any more, and that gives me too much room for consternation.

FOEHAMMER: I would like to agree with your prescription but for one small problem here: the United States is not and would NOT be getting the amount of international support it would need to conduct an all-out war against the Muslim world in a manner that would be fair to Americans (should we allow the entire burden of this to fall on our people ALONE??think about that). At the moment, it appears the United States would be faced with the prospect of having to take out the Islamosphere all by itself. What would the total economic costs of that be for the United States? Say we won, would we have any allies on the global front remaining--what might the cost of that be?? I suspect that this is probably why the United States government is so hesitant at the moment. America stands to lose a lot if it took the approach you hope for (not that I wouldn't like to see Islam eliminated by Americans, I absolutely would love to).
Now I ask you, could the United States successfully conduct an all-out war against the entire Islamic world and defeat Islam and win? I think it probably COULD. But if it is not able to do so, should we take a chance on finding out? Imagine if we started a war of such magnitude and couldn't win. I think this explains Washington's recent timidity with regards to Iran et al. Washington is probably waiting for the Muslims to make the first real move towards war--and then will let the bastards "have it." (Hopefully with the EU, India and others on board as should be).
One more thing: standard American weapons and combat against Muslims should be ruled in this case. The most if not only beneficial tactic I can see to effectively eliminate the Islamoshere would be the detonating of EMP weapons over the airspaces of the Islamosphere nations. That would put a much-deserved end the Islam's weapons chest and plans for global jihad. That is what we should be hoping Washington has the nerve to do. And BTW, THAT is what Islam is planning for us. We don't want them to get there first.

The military said Faqih had illegally removed medical supplies, cooking stoves, tents, clothing, medicine and cigarettes donated by the wives of military officers to the tsunami survivors. Some military officials claimed he was stealing the aid on behalf of Aceh's separatist rebels.
Faqih was arrested with three members of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), who allegedly assisted in the removal of the supplies but were never brought to court.

I think the simpler question is: "What will be the cost if the United States never chooses to fight Islam?"

I don't think anyone is doing deep enough analysis of the jihadist preacher's exact words.
Since such Islamist madmen consider Israel equivalent to perdition on Earth, this homicidal mucky-muck Bashir, in effect, is telling the Jihadists to Go to Hell.
I heartily second the motion.

Notice that the PKS demo complained about human rights violations allegedly by Israel. But the PKS does not believe in human rights, nor equality nor the value of non-Muslim life [or of Muslim life]. So what right do they have to complain about Israel's alleged HR violations? How does Indonesia treat Hindus on Bali or the Chinese minority or the Christians in the Moluccas? How about their human rights?
Sheik pointed out the typical hypocrisy of our Muslim HR campaigners [and of their non-Muslim supporters]. They like to complain about "collective punishment" of all Muslims. But Muslims themselves very much endorse the notion of collective guilt. That is, all Jews everywhere are responsible for anything that Israel does that they don't like. That is how they have justified attacking Jews in France since October 2000. What's worse is that part of the "peace camp" and the "Left" in France justified their position.
