I think I started posting around the time of the cartoon fiasco. Is it my imagination or are we getting more and more newer members? I think I am seeing lots of new names each day.
If that is the case it is a GOOD thing!
The message is getting out there.
Let's make sure there are many,many more Independence Days to celebrate,,even for us non-US citizens.

Happy fourth of July y'all. This is the only holiday that I actually celebrate and I am misty eyed as usual with joy because I live in the greatest country in the world. I've trailed quite a bit of this country including Alaska and everywhere I've gone I've met other Americans who fiercely love this country like I do. Those of us who love our country understand how lucky we are to live in the land of the free.

Yes, I'm new - I'm glad to see that people are paying attention to what is happening before our eyes in Europe and - gasp - right across our border in Canada.
Although I have faith in America's ability to not let subservience spread in the name of political correctness, it's important to us to open our eyes before it's too late.

Last week the U.S. Supreme Court frivolously extended the rights guaranteed under the Constitution upon our worst enemies -- an action done so trivially, but depicted as if it was a noble thing -- as if it was the Right or Just thing to do.
Why would these enbittered savages have any respect for our society, for our laws, for our beliefs when we value our citizenship and privileges so cheaply? This 4th of July we celebrate America's 230th Birthday, and I do it with great joy. But more than ever I know we must learn to esteem our freedoms and rights more than some of us have done. Our other friends in the West may want to consider something similar. Whether you're religious or not, we in the West are the inheritors of a sacred legacy -- consecrated by the blood of our ancestors good and great. Some day I hope you all have the privilege of visiting the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. There inscribed on the wall is a secular prayer for America which sums up the American Project in my mind -- it's Lincoln's immortal speech, the "Gettysburg Adress":

Know why we are American. To do so will give rise to rejection of all things that stand against the great ideas inside the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
As Islam is against these things, it should be the outlaw here. Not legal, period. If you follow Islam, follow it back to where it came, and take it all with you. And this day is comming.
The only way, for anything else is to reject the founding of this great country and way of life, and would lead to it's death.
Hope for all to open their eyes and see, allow islam and we will give up being free.

According to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Declaration_of_Human_Rights):
"The proclamation was ratified during the General Assembly on December 10, 1948 by a vote of 48-0, with 8 abstentions (The entire Soviet Bloc, South Africa and Saudi Arabia)."
Most of what's in the declaration is contrary to and hence anethma to Islam.

The amazing thing about the first two quotes above is that not only was the hideous one urging execution for fornication and sacrilige and a different standard of "justice" for Muslims and non-Muslims written *almost two hundred years* after the first quote, but was written as rebuttal to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights!
Kudos to Robert for not just reminding us what we are fighting against, but also what we are fighting for.
I was not raised to love the United States, or indeed the West. Although I am American born, my mother is English and *hated* the West (not a comment on Brits in general, this--just my mother). I was constantly told how unjust the US was, and how plucky the USSR and China were to stand up against the West (and this was during Mao's murderous Cultural Revolution). When I was a very small child, I often echoed this view.
I soon began to notice, though, just from watching the news and reading the paper, that life was much better and freer in the West, in almost every way--economics, human rights, freedom of speech. Even where there was injustice--with institutionalized racism, say--there was possiblity of redress, something entirely lacking in unfree nations.
I use the term West here broadly--nations such as Austrailia, Japan and Taiwan are hardly geographically western, yet have adopted many western laws. Nations that adopt more western mores quickly become much better places to live--Taiwan and South Korea, while always much better than their communist counterparts, went from authoritarian, borderline third-world nations thirty years ago to first world democracies today. Even coountries which only partially institute Western laws are much improved, such as constitutional monarchy Thailand.
Often Westerners seem almost embarrassed to extoll Western virtues--the rule of law, secured property rights, freedom of speech--or even worse, quick to attack them. When we can stand up proudly for our principles we will have a much better chance against horrors like Islamofascism.

After 9/11 I went to Barnes and Noble and bought a copy of the quran in an attempt understand what's going on. I made it through cover-to-cover.
First observation: it reads like a book by a semi-literate that has some familiarity with the Bible and a burning desire for attention.
Second observation: I kept looking for references to virgins for martyrs. I found none.
My question is: Are the qurans sold in the US edited? Or is the guidance promulgated somewhere else?
