From the NY Daily News:
The FBI has uncovered what officials consider a serious plot by jihadists to bomb the Holland Tunnel in hopes of causing a torrent of water to deluge lower Manhattan, the Daily News has learned.
Experts also said that even if the tunnel cracked, the Financial District would not be flooded because it is above the level of the river.

Stupidiest people on the planet. Maybe they hoped that Allah would make the water run uphill and flood NYC.

But you know what, the only people that would really drown in the streets are the cab drivers. And we all know who they sympathize with.

There are people out there who believe the Peaceful Religion of Islam did not attact on 9/11 and that another such "incident" will not happen.
The terrorist have consistently said they plan to attack again. I believe them.
To those who disbelieve--go home and drink your dhimmi koolaide.

According to the 'science' found in the Koran, the Earth is flat, so of course the water should spread evenly, flooding the financial district and paralyzing the infidels' economic center.
And the country of Holland (from which the tunnel takes its name) is flat as a pancake, perhaps reinforcing this theory in the jihadisrs' minds?
I'll bet the NY Times is working up a defense for for the accused right now.

Right on, eloivsdiablo. First thing I noticed too is that the columnist used the term "jihadists." Now if we could just get our political leaders to do the same and bring this fight out into the open.
It also raises a sad memory, what with this being the anniversary of the London murders. I can remember thinking after the '93 attacks on the WTC how foolish it was for arabs to try to use a bomb to destroy the Twin Towers. As if the joke was on them for trying to blow up such a huge construct. Well, they got it eventually 8 years later. When it comes to destroying all that is non muslim and taking innocent lives, jihad does not give up.

Are you recommending that Muslims be deported to Mars?
(True, they're so full of bullsh*t and hot air that they could probably have the Red Planet terraformed in months, but it does seem a bit expensive. I favor free tickets to Mecca. And all the honey-roasted peanuts they can eat. Maybe show them the Afghan film "Osama" - about a Yentl-like little Muslim girl who has to shave her hair and dress like a boy to get a job in Taliban Islam- on every flight, too?)

I think we need to learn something from this. We need to learn that the huge number of people ignore unsuccessful plots. That is, people won't learn a damn thing from this. For this reason, I'm hoping for some competent muslims--if there are such creatures--to actually succeed in committing atrocities now. It's better that atrocity happens now when it is simpler to do something about than later. And it a jihadist atrocity will ultimately happen, anyway.
Luckily, we don't have to do a damn thing to help the jihadists commit some heinous act. The "Human Rights" crowd and the "America is Satan" leftist crowd are working extremely hard to help the jihadists achieve their goals. Standing on the sidelines and whining about this may be the best policy at this point. We should of course have a coherent agenda when the survivors finally wake up to leftist/islam alliance has wrought.
In short, we should stay bluntly that a disaster is inevitable given the current political climate & be clear about who are to blame. After the disaster, the West will be more open to treating Islam like Communism was treated during the Cold War. And the fellow travelers of Islam on the left should be treated just as the Muslims are.

It will be hard for them to compete, they kill all the teachers and the only course currently availiable is Koran 101 and Koran 102. Real education involves history and other courses that demonstrate the Koran actually had nothing to do with anything in the world except death.

I hate to say it but anything less then a wmd attack on U.S. soil will largely be dismissed by your average American citizen because it probably won't effect them on a personal level.
Our government that we elected is steadfastly remaining to the illusion that Islam is a legit religion and any retaliation from the citizen masses will be declared illegal and hence be called criminals.
So it will be a double win for Islam, just as before with 9/11 and such attacks.
Do you honestly think there could ever be a open season on muslims?, I don't think so, but that is something the muslims will have to take into consideration if they ever detonate a nuke on U.S. soil.
You see, muslims will never take to our streets raping and pillaging like they do in third world countries, because if they do, they would get their @sses handed to them(and because they are Cowards).
I'm sorry to say, but our dhimmi leaders aren't actually looking out for us $8 dollar an hour keep the country going folk. But they better wake up soon because there are alot of us that won't wait for another strike and will take the horse by the reins and steer it in the proper direction, whether we be called criminals or not.
Didn't early Americans defy the British?, what were they called?, I forget, and apparently alot of other Americans have too!

FBI Busts 'Real Deal' NYC Terror Plot Aimed At Underground Trains
Friday , July 07, 2006
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,202518,00.html
WASHINGTON -- FBI agents monitoring Internet chat rooms smashed a possible Al Qaeda-linked terrorist plot to attack New York City's underground transportation system, law enforcement officials said Friday.
"We're here today to discuss what we believe is the real deal," Mark Mershon, former assistant FBI director in New York, said during a press conference Friday. "We believe we intercepted this group early in their plotting and in fact,
the plan has largely been disrupted."
FOXNews has learned that the main target of the plot was the heavily-traveled underground PATH train system that connects lower Manhattan and New Jersey's suburban communities. The system carries more than 215,000 commuters daily. Mershon said the plot was supposed to be executed in October or November of this year but was still in the "planning stages."
Click here to check out a PATH map.
http://www.panynj.gov/CommutingTravel/path/html/map.html
The plot was intended to disrupt several of the city's vital transportation networks and strike a blow to the city's economy, possibly by flooding the Wall Street Financial District, one official said before the press conference.
The planning was not far along, one U.S. official said, but authorities "take aspirations of that sort seriously."
"At this time, we have no indication of any imminent threat to the New York transportation system or anywhere else in the United States," Richard Kolko, Washington-based FBI special agent, said in a statement early Friday.
Mershon and other officials would not elaborate on the details of the plot during the press conference Friday. But Mershon said there were at least three suspects in custody around the world on three continents, including one in Lebanon who said he was a member of Al Qaeda, and that there are up possible plotter suspects.
"The principal players are not in this country," he said, adding there are no charges pending in the United States and that the investigation has been ongoing for a year.
Mershon noted that although news reports said the Holland Tunnel was targeted, he said the PATH train was more likely the target.
"We have had a number of threats over the months and years, frankly, that would target all of the conveyances across the river," he added.
"We certainly share concerns with the Port Authority police about the transportation
facilities in Lower Manhattan," said New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly, who added that additional police resources had been deployed to Lower Manhattan in the past few weeks.
"New York still remains in the crosshairs of the terrorists," Kelly said.
Added New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg: "This is one more reminder that in today's world, our safety can be menaced from any corner of the globe."
FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in an earlier press release that "a significant development in this investigation was the arrest of a key suspect by Lebanese authorities."
One of the alleged plotters was arrested a month ago by Lebanese authorities at the request of U.S. law enforcement agencies, one Lebanese security official said.
The suspect is identified as Amir Andalousli, the other official said. But the Lebanese security official said his real name is as Assem Hammoud, and that the native of Beirut admitted to the plot.
"Hammoud is a member of Al Qaeda and he confessed to this (plot) information frankly and without coercion," the Lebanese security official said.
The New York Daily News reported Friday that the attack was to focus on the Holland Tunnel, said the would-be terrorists allegedly had a pledge of financial and tactical support from Jordanian associates of top terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi before he was killed in Iraq.
"We know Al Qaeda continues to have an interest in attacking the United States," the FBI and DHS said in their statement Friday. "At this point in time, there is no specific or credible information that Al Qaeda is planning an attack on U.S. soil."
Mershon blasted whoever was responsible for the leak to the press about the investigation
is "clearly someone who doesn't understand the fragility of international relations." Because the investigation is ongoing and no formal criminal charges have yet been filed, authorities could not detail on specific of the plot or the investigation.
"The release makes the investigation more difficult for us, it has greatly complicated what otherwise would be a very smooth relationship, a very smooth partnership, with a number of overseas allied agencies," Mershon added.
The U.S. Embassy in Beirut would not comment, but a spokesperson said both Lebanon and the United States are developing solid cooperation in the areas of law enforcement and counterterrorism. "Preventing terrorist attacks is in the interest of both of our countries," the embassy official said.
"This is one instance where intelligence was on top of its game and discovered the plot when it was just in the talking phase," said Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y.
Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., said that federal law enforcement and New York police have been monitoring a plot to attack New York's mass transit system for at least eight months.
"There was nothing imminent, but it was being monitored for long period time," said King, who said he has received regular intelligence briefings on the alleged plot as chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.
King said he had been unable to publicly disclose the plot because to do so would risk the investigation.
"This is ongoing, that's why I've said nothing about it until now," King said. "It would have been better if this had not been disclosed."
Lebanon's government was asked by the United States to hold off announcing the arrest of Andalousli while operations to disrupt the plot were continuing, the Daily News quoted sources as saying.
The most recent terror arrest in the United States came last month, when seven men were arrested and charged with conspiring to blow up the landmark Sears Tower in Chicago and FBI buildings in Miami and four other cities as part of a pledge to
Al Qaeda to wage war against the United States. Officials said the plot never went beyond the earliest stages.
Need for More Homeland Security Funds
Lawmakers and others said the reports of the plot highlight a major need for metropolitan
areas such as New York to get a bigger portion of security funds handed out by the
Department of Homeland Security.
"More than anything else, if true, these news reports offer incontrovertible
proof that the federal government's homeland security strategy is flawed in its
rhetoric and in its application. Let me be clear: Americans who face the greatest
risk should receive the greatest amount of funding," said Sen. Robert Menendez,
D-N.J. "How anyone, at any level of government, could argue otherwise is beyond
me and shows a flagrant disregard for the realities of protecting our homeland."
He continued: "For too long, the federal government has distributed security
grants in a manner that seems to be based merely on whim. It certainly is not based
on risk. It defies common sense that a would-be terrorist in Beirut with an Internet
connection recognizes that the New York region is rife with significant landmarks,
yet Homeland Security Secretary [Michael] Chertoff doesn't."
"We just need to do more. We need to give cities like New York the money they
need to get things done," Gavin said.
"These are plots still aimed at tunnels, bridges whatever," added counter-terrorism
analyst Steve Emerson. "The jihadists, no matter where they are located --
and this includes homegrown cells -- are still going to be looking to the Northeastern
corridor to make an impact."
FOX News' Ian McCaleb, Liza Porteus and The Associated Press contributed to this

How many equally deadly terror attacks currently being plotted by Muslims are the feds NOT finding out about?
Americans have unfortunately been losing their nerve of late and the sharks are now circling us with newly-inspired confidence that they'll get a tasty meal.
The fact that North Korea's drag-king of a dictator could lob ICBMs in the direction of Hawaii with the Bush Administration protesting like pantywaists does not look promising.
What will it take for America to get on the offensive where it belongs?
And when are we going to strike our enemy aggressors with EMPs over their airspaces to both save civilian lives and eliminate their electronic infrastructure to attack us with?
After our third Pearl Harbor (9-11 was the second)???

Well let me tell you pythagoras as to what it will take. It will take some common sense. Sense to get out of Iraq when you have these stupids right where you want them - fighting between themselves. It takes the sense to realize that having all the American military in Afghan is not going to help you guys capture that SOB UBL. It will have to be strong intelligence and targeted bombing or assasination. US and all other Jihad affected countries should seriously start thinking about infiltrating the enemy camps. Say a few right words and I think, these stupids will think you belong right among them. Once you start doing this, you will have all your armed forces where they need to be - well positioned to give swift and strong reply to any country even daring to cast an evil eye on you guys.

Dog, you're right on about America not waking up till a massive attack. I mean, reading reports every day in here has been a surreal experience, cuz, indeed, our politics have gone surreal.
But if the do Moslems nuke Israel, look for the public discorse on Islam finally being released from at least part of the Fictive Reality that now constrains it. And probably a good Old Testament eye-for-an-eye to boot.
610 * 623 * 732* 1066* 1215 * 1453 * 1492 * 1683 * 1928 * 1938 * 1948 * 1996 * 2001
But have the Israeli Jews revived from their surreal reverie? American Jewry has not. What's it gonna take.
