The sooner the world witnesses the rapid collapse of this criminal's regime, the better. More Hitlerian saber-rattling from the Thug-In-Chief, via Iran Focus, with thanks to JE:
Tehran, Iran, Jul. 12 – Hard-line Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Wednesday that the world will soon witness the demise of Israel, the government-run news agency Fars reported.“In the near future we will witness the rapid collapse of the Zionist regime”, Ahmadinejad told a crowd in the north-western city of Jolfa.
“The nations of the region will record the names of states that support the Zionist regime alongside the Zionist’s crimes”, he added.

Be careful what you wish for, nutcase.
Examine history. Those who threaten the existence of Jews or Israel, come to a very bad end. Dont let your stupidity bring a catastrophe on your own innocent people in Iran and the ME.

Something About Islam,
I've read that August 22 date elsewhere. Iran's stalling tactics the past few days give that date even more credibility, IMO.

Is anyone listening to him? I hope also Lulu, his citizens step in and take him down. If his people don't agree with his policies, they need to do something NOW and not let him succeed with his threats. If not, then the civilized world needs to take him out.

A secular coup in Iran? Not a chance. Only religious coups happen in muslim countries.
Madhat is intent on starting WW III to usher in the 12th imam. If you have stock, sell it. As soon as that bomb goes off, the stock exchange will plummet to nothing.
I hate to sound like a nutty survivalist, but it might be a good idea to stock up on canned food and water.
Madhat is not crazy. As a jihdist, he knows what he is doing and it will succeed. Not the 12th imam part, but the part about destroying the infidel society. That is clearly within his power to do.

So much for a proxy war in Lebanon (the real combatants are Hezbollah and Iran). So much for the policy of "disengagement" of that man of flawed vision Ariel Sharon. Think of U.S. "redeployment" from Iraq - just a bunch of political masquerade offal from fools like Kerry.
There is no disengagement from an enemy, there is only victory or defeat; possible safety or probable defeat.
Gaza and the West Bank belong to whomever can hold it, and that was Israel, but not Sharon and it isn't Olmert.
In this last incursion back into Gaza, we heard that the European Union was sending in 40+ millon to the "palestineans". What bullcrap. Israel has to tell the EU to take off, and enforce it.
We face the same type of decisions or defeat of the West. The choice is to live as free men and women or as fear ridden Umma slaves.
Tough choice isn't it.

I hope the US spy satellites are closely watching every inch of Iran, Looking for missile launch sites and signs of probable intent to launch missiles. I agree that missile launch attempts are near. Should such sites be detected, it must be reasoned that a test launch in not the order of the day.
I would also be watching for missile launch sites in Syria, Jordan, Yeman, Egypt. Never can tell which one of the Israel hating places will launch.
The mad man in Iran seems determined either to die in victory or die trying.

The Sqeezing of the Muslims and and the Arab countries by the US led the shift of focus of the jihadist from a hard target like US and Isreal to soft target like India, Thailand and other south asian countries.
This fouc was deliberate to fasten the Islamification of India and thus arm themselves with the necessary material that is abundant both millitary and economic, to wage an open war with the West...
If the West insists upon Human rights implementatio in India and elsewhere then it is to their demise..
Forget abt Huma rights until the scorge on Humanity Islm is wiped out from the World..

This guy's view of reality is like looking at a fun-house mirror. He does more projection than a movie theater camera. What's very likely to happen (my guess-within 2 years) is that he'll be doing the Jihad Martyr thing and doing his best to take as many Muslims as possible with him into paradise. He reminds me of the leader of the Heaven's gate cult. He even looks like him.

Somebody would need to wipe out our entire legislature, judiciary, executive, like in the movie 'Mars Attacks' before an effective counter-attack can be launched. Remember how in that movie, it was left to some average folks to figure out their achilles heel, and act on that? Everybody - from President on downwards, was dead. That's the sort of thing we'll probably need - not just in the US, but worldwide.
No governments, anywhere. Just each of us, with our plain old common sense, left to handle these vermin. Then you won't hear anything like peace process, diplomacy and the like. "What, you called for a Jihad against me? Off with your head!"

If by some miracle he succeeds then he has won anyway.
If his country is destroyed this will signal for the 12th Imam to appear...and then Israel would have to a pay a heavy price.

Come to think of it, why would Iran need to launch from Iran when they could easily do so from Syria or Lebanon?
I can't believe this is happening. Ahmadinejad is way past the line of anything Hitler ever got away with saying in public as far as I can reckon. And his threats continue to grow and grow and the world doesn't do a damn thing about him. World leaders just write him off like psychologists write off a violent criminal. as "a victim of the social ill's of society." Like its our fault.
This whole situation is like a dream--or something worse. So freaking bizarre.

The Bush Administration has completely run out of ideas as to what to do now. Richard Clarke's 2001 fantasy about the Tiny Minority of Extremists Who Hijacked Peaceful Islam died when the Palestinians elected Hamas in a landslide. And now Bush has come up with no alternative vision or strategy to replace it.
Neither has anyone else. We hear separate proposals for piecemeal attempts here or there--Lebanon, Gaza Strip, Iraq, Iran, India--but no longer is there a grand strategy because we keep ignoring the jihadist philosophy and movement driving all of this.

GreatShaitan writes: "Ahmadinejad is way past the line of anything Hitler ever got away with saying in public as far as I can reckon. And his threats continue to grow and grow and the world doesn't do a damn thing about him."
There are two reasons for that.
First, the West wasn't dependent on oil exports from Nazi Germany. Today, the lion's share of oil consumed by Europe comes from Iran. A cutoff of oil from Iran would likely send the price of gasoline in America past $5.00 a gallon. Yet every time the price of gasoline rises even a few cents, our politicians start bleating and invoking conspiracy theories. Until our elected officials start telling Americans the truth--that they have no God-given right to cheap gasoline and that high gasoline prices may be part of the sacrifice we must make to win the war against terror--we oil addicts won't be able to stand up to our pushers.
Second, no matter how threatening Germany was, it had few allies in the world at the time. Whereas Iran and the other jihadists always have a trump card--the worldwide umma of 1.3 billion Muslims in a hundred countries, including most Western countries. These Muslims feel a strong sense of solidarity to each other that often transcends any sense of loyalty to their host countries. If all Muslims worldwide rose up in violent jihad, they could plunge this planet into a world war that could last for a hundred years. In Britain alone, there are now enough Muslims to tear up the entire country in civil war--if they got sufficiently riled. The West is terrified at that prospect.
Back in World War II, the number of so-called "enemy aliens" living in Western countries could be counted in the thousands or tens of thousands--yet only a few hundred "fifth columnists" did significant damage. Now we're talking about not thousands but millions of Muslims tooling around Western countries, all with strong opinions about the Middle East. If even 10% of them rose up in violence, the entire West could be plunged into civil war.

I agree. And this fact is giving them the audacity to increase their violent attacks. The Islamic world feels they are in a position of strength.

Well, anyway, Ahmadinejad's good at speeches...for a neanderthal anthropoid. I understand the Red Chinese are potty over him too.

An interesting speculation on the date chosen by Iranian designated madman Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to respond to the latest EU-US proposals Why August 22?
Iranian leader Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has rejected Western demands that he respond to a new proposal regarding the cessation of Iran’s nuclear efforts by the middle of this month.
To the consternation of officials in Europe and Washington, Ahmadinejad promised only to respond by the end of the Iranian month of Mordad (August 22).
Why that date? Why so long to look over a simple package of incentives and give either a negative or a positive reply? Finding the answers to these troubling questions may require America and Europe to come to terms with a reality Western liberalism has done its best to ignore - that Islam remains engaged in a clash of civilizations with the Judeo-Christian world.
You see, Ahmadinejad is a strong believer in the Shi’ite tradition of a 12th imam, the so-called “hidden” Imam Mahdi who Allah has miraculously kept alive since his disappearance in 874 AD. As the story goes, Imam Mahdi will return at a time of great global chaos, oppression and bloodshed and usher in an era of (Islamic) justice.
Ahmadinejad sees himself as Allah’s instrument to pave the way for Imam Mahdi, and constantly uses public appearances to urge his countrymen to prepare to back him in this task.
Rumor is, Imam Mahdi could be returning this August (or shortly thereafter), just around the time some military experts believe Iran will be ready to construct its first nuclear weapon. Go figure.
Ahmadinejad has made clear his confidence that he and other true believers can affect this apocalyptic timetable, and will use all means at his disposal to do so.
Also of note is that August 22 of this year corresponds with the Islamic date of Rajab 28, the day Saladin conquered and entered Jerusalem.
Taken in conjunction with Ahmadinejad’s stated desire to see Israel destroyed, it hardly seems a coincidence.

GS replies to my post:

Try this. get a compass and a world map. now using the know data of the range of the test launches, take the compass and set it to the range on the map. Then take the compass and center it on Israel , the encompassing circle gives you a circle that could show the territory from which a missle of North Korean design could be fired and assured of hitting Israel. You will see Iran does not need to use Iranian territory to launch missiles. I would use this circle as a minimum gage of land to look for missile launch sites.

BigCatgirl, I disagree that WW III happened already. If it did, I must have missed it. It wasn't much of a war. You can't compare the Cold War, which was not a war at all, but a preparation for a war that never came, to World Wars I or II. Preparing to fight a war, is not the same as fighting one. Nor is fighting a war by proxy in the third world an actual world war.
Incidentally, the cold war is still on as we continue to prepare to fight World War III. American and Russian nuclear subs continue to stalk each other in the world's oceans. It is happening right now as I write this. Espionage continues to take place. That is the cold war right there. But it is not a shooting war. World War III will be a shooting war, like World Wars I and II.
What some people mistake for the cold war was the "arms race". The arms race is essentially over, and it was won by the west. But the arms race was not a war.
When nuclear war breaks out this summer, the Cold war will be but a footnote at the bottom of the page that only future historians will talk about.
World War III has not happened yet. But I think it will happen shortly.

Iran doesn't have to rely on missiles to deliver a bomb. Whatever bomb they make would most likely be too big to fit on a missile, nor would they have access to the sophisticated guidance system for the warhead. Remember, that the west and the Russians mastered making bombs BEFORE they mastered how to deliver them by missile. It took about 15-20 years to go from being able to make an atomic bomb, to be able to load a nuclear warhead on top of a missile and have it delivered with reliability and accuracy.
For Iran right now, they would just need to fly it in, or even drive it in. Smuggle it in. That is how the bomb will get to Tel Aviv.

somethingaboutislam,
From my own reflection, when we had the old Soviet Union with its nukes looking at the USA straight in the eyes, not knowing if the button was going to be pushed, and being a very small child during the Cuban missle crisis, had the world on the brink. Once the end of the Soviet Union came, in the library of my mind, it was thought to be WWIII. Since the attacks on 9/11, a whole different type of war became a reality as well as enemy. That is why I say WWIV.

Wars don't change, Bigcatgirl. Wars involve lots of shooting and millions of deaths. At least World Wars do. The last time we had that was WW II. I believe we will have that again. And when we do it will be WW III.
The word "war" can be used to describe any conflict, including the rivalry between Pepsi and Coke - the cola wars. But when the issue is World War, that we have only seen twice.

somethingaboutislam: The Cold War has already been labeled by some historians as being the third world war. You do not have to agree with them. But it is not incorrect to call the present war against Islam WWIV.
ps-the Cold War included the Indochinese war and conflicts in Africa and Central America. The Cold War thus was not strictly about the nuclear arms race. (It is also possible that the KGB murdered JFK which we will not get into here).

the idiot of tehran doesn't know what the Bible has determined will happen.
the Bible says in Ezechiel that the land of the uttermost north [no nation is more north than russia from Israel] will invade Israel with 6 allies of which persia (iran) will is listed as an allie of russia. the Bible says that the invasion will be from the north, and no nation is going to assist Israel. the Bible then says that GOD will use nature (example 100 pound hailstones etc), and the invading armies will start to fight each other and kill each other, and Israel will be delivered and the dead bodies of the invaders will be eaten by the birds. the idiot of tehran is wrong no one is going to nuke Israel. this is written somewhere like Ezeciel 37-38.
in addition the Bible says that there is going to be a leader that will sign a peace treaty with Israel allowing the Jews to build a third temple. precisely 7 years after this peace treaty is signed, JESUS will return. furthermore the man who signs this peace treaty with Israel will 3 and a half years after signing the treaty will go into the thrid temple and declare himself as god, and cause the murder of all those who refuse to worship this man.
at July 14, 2006 12:33 AM
first of all the Bible never gave the name of who the person is it just said that in world history it will occur
since i grew up as an evangelical protestant, i heard about the peace treaty allowing the Jews to build a 3rd temple etc all of my life. in fact i found it surprising myself that others, such as mainline protestants and catholics haven't heard of these things. but it's right there in Bible prophecy.
listing some more of what the Bible says in regards to what events shall occur in world history.
in Revealation, it says that because 2 people in Jerusalem who will witness about Jesus, when they are murdered by the person who makes the 7 year treaty with Israel mentioned above, that the people all over the world will view the bodies of the 2 dead people in Jerusalem and will not let them be buried for three and a half days, and the people all over the world will give gifts to each other because these 2 people are dead. now we all know that Revealation is written in the 1st century when no one was aware of electrons and protons and nuetrons until the end of the 19th century. however in the 21st century everyone in the world had the opportunity to watch the winter olympics february 2006 on television made possible by satalite. in fact the funeral of yassir arafat in november 2004 close to Jerusalem was also broadcast via satalite all over the world. people once made fun of the Bible when it was discovered the world was round because they asked how can everyone on earth look at 2 dead people in Jerusalem, now we know the answer it happens by satalite.
another Bible prediction: the Jews are in their ancient homeland forever and consequently will never be driven out [this is said by the very last 2 sentences in the Bible book called Amos]

I get drunk with ted Kennedy, Others,
Those of us who are Catholic, Orthodox, Mainline Protestants do know about that passage of scripture, but more often then not, in our worship services do not have end times related scriptures read until the end of the Christian liturgy year, which is in November ( the church calandar year begins four weeks before Christmas called Advent ). We are told to simply "keep watch" and go about our business.

hello bigcatgirl13106
i didn't know that the scriptures are read according to a plan. i do know i've heard from several who are protestant that some think that there is a first Isaiah, a second Isaiah, and a third Isaiah because some believe the future isn't predicted. the problem is some of these predictions occured in our time of the 20th and 21st centuries thus giving confidence that those who say the future isn't predictable is incorrect.
since i mentioned the fact that scripture is read according to a plan, at my church we go thru specific topics in depth, week after week.
as an example we started in october 2005 and ended in june 2006 on the topic how GOD was revealing his character as found in Exodus, and we did that week after week with occassional exceptions for Christmas and several other detours form the main topic.

“The nations of the region will record the names of states that support the Zionist regime alongside the Zionist’s crimes”, he added."
In other words, Israel is just the start, they won't stop attacking non Muslims until they are stopped and there is only one way to do that. Of course our useless leaders are blind, deaf and dumb.
Besides, we really need to sort out our liberal human rights operatives, they need to be sorted out first.
