The Times presents this as a "new mission," when in fact it has been his mission all along. "Bali terror chief’s new mission," from the Times, with thanks to JE:
THE venerable preacher named as a terrorist leader by the United States had a twinkle in his eye as he talked of his new mission to convert Indonesia, the world’s biggest Muslim nation, into what he calls an “Allahcracy”.Abu Bakar Bashir is a free man after serving just over two years in jail for participating in the conspiracy to bomb two nightclubs in Bali in 2002. The suicide attacks killed 202 people, including 88 Australians, 38 Indonesians and 26 British citizens.
He was in fine form, sitting with his lawyer, Akhmad Michdan, and six followers round a table at Jakarta airport strewn with the debris of a copious, if sober, lunch consumed at the expense of the infidel press.
“Bali was a reaction,” said Bashir, who has learnt to measure his inflammatory words with care since our last interview at his Islamic boarding school, three weeks before the bombings on the holiday island.
“With regard to the bombings everywhere, these are reactions by Muslims to defend themselves. Muslims are being tortured everywhere from Afghanistan to the Philippines. So these reactions against America are global.”
Bashir, 68, was flying to Sumatra on the latest stage of a celebrity preaching tour that has hardly stopped since he was released from jail last month, to the fury of the American and Australian governments.
His followers murmured in indignant approval at the words of their ustad, or teacher, several of them typing busily on BlackBerrys or mobile phones as they did so. They chuckled when he joked that he had turned down a speaking invitation from a mosque in Australia “because I’m not 100% popular there”.
“George Bush is trying to rot Islam from within,” Bashir continued, sipping a milkshake, “and America is attacking Indonesian Muslims — with ideas. That’s why I’m fighting America — but only with preaching and ideas, of course.”
Of course. And on that front Americans are not fighting at all.

Surely that's a typo? Shouldn't it be "Allahcrazy" and why the stating of the obvious, it's already happened.

If there was anyone who ever needed an untimely death, it is Abu Bashir. He would welcome his death, and most of the world would welcome his death as well. His death is a win/win situation. Camus, where is Meursault, when we need him? Let's take up a collection for cognac and gauloises for Meursault.

One of the most maddening things about Muslims is that they are 100% incapable of placing any blame on themselves or other Muslims, no matter what happens. They're always the victims. They could kill every other inhabitant on the planet and they'd still be victims.

The answer is simple: we need more christian and jewish babies to be born. We need a larger next generation in order to offset the muslim boom that happened while the world was sleeping. We may need to make war in the near future, but we should be making love now. :)

Why should we infidels be expected to change our habits, our way of life, just because of these vermin? Why should we have to become breeders? There are a lot of people who don't want children at all, or just 1 or 2. Why should they be expected to create more, when the various governments show no sign of recognizing the problem.
The solution to this is for us to recognize that we are in a war, and start a ground war against dar ul Islam. Viewed correctly, this would be joining a war already declared on us. In the context of this story, it would mean bombing Indonesian cities, levelling places like Aceh (obviously the tsunami wasn't enough) and following it up with a land invasion that destroys Islam and establishes an infidel regime.

uh, why "christians and jews"? isnt simply non-muslims (whether that be atheist, hindu, sikh, buddhist or whatever) good enough?

I wonder what fate awaits the people of Bali who are 85% Hindus..
Another genocide in the making I guess this time the non of the Western world would react becoz those that would suffer in the Isalmisation of Indonesia will be Hndus of Bali,...
East timor won freedom becoz it was Christians mainly, but bali wouldnt see that liberation happening.....

Its time HCina and India join hands and redrwa the south asia map..
Indonesians persecuted the chinese people and Malaysia also did, its time China liberated the chinese with a new country for them from the Malaysian land, and Bali decaled an Independent country to protect it from Allah Cracy....

What a novel idea! Attack all the the crimes, toxicity, primitive hates of Islam with ideas. How does Bashir respond with his 'ideas'? He has none, only to parrot Quranic anti-freedom regressive nonsense, and preach hate. He's certainly no Jefferson or Adams, is he?
The only Muslims with ideas are former Muslims, apostates, because they remembered they can think. Mo' put the other Muslims' brain neurons out of commission for 1350+ years. They're so brain dead ideas have no effect on them, wouldn't know one if it bit them. Reaon has no effect on the brain-dead.

Abu Bakar Bashir murdered 202 people, yet the so called government of Indonesia lets him walk free. We can see whose side they are on. A wake up call to anyone who thinks of buying anything made or grown in Indonesia.
