Matthias Küntzel notes that yesterday,
...the Berlin daily the Tagesspiegel published a letter-to-the-editor from Dr. Mounir Herzallah, a Shiite from the South of Lebanon. Dr. Herzallah reports on how Hezbollah-terrorists came to his town, dug a munitions depot and then built a school and a residence directly over it. He writes:“Laughing, a local sheikh explained to me that the Jews lose either way: either because the rockets are fired at them or because, if they attack munitions depot, they are condemned by world public opinion on account of the dead civilians.” Hezbollah, he says, uses the civilian population “as a human shield and then when they are dead as propaganda.”Just how indifferent the lives of their fellow Muslims are to the Shiite Islamists was already made clear during the Iran-Iraq War, when Khomeini sent thousands of Iranian children into the mine fields. Still today, this mass murder is defended as “martyrdom” by people like Ahmadinejad and Nasrallah.
In April, The New Republic published an abridged version of Küntzel's article on these “children of the minefields.” He has now made available the unabridged version. The particular role of Hizballah is also touched upon in the text. The English translation is by John Rosenthal. You will find the article here.

The Israeli government should protest the Muslim use of women and children and other civilians as human shields-thus Israel protests making them martyrs via Hezbollah's choice for them. Israel should make this an issue at the UN and elsewhere. Yell loud about it-and keep yelling-till everybody gets it. Hezbollah must lose the perception war too. The truth must prevail that Hezbollah is an opressor to all.

Frank:
Nothing the Israeli government does or says will have any positive effect at the UN. As Abba Eban once quipped "If Algeria proposed a resolution that the Earth was flat and that Israel has flattened it, it would pass by a vote of 120 to 3, with 27 abstentions."
No, until the world comes to understand the incredible cynicism behind the boast "We [Muslims] love death as they [Israelis, Jews, etc.] love life." the world view will be one of Israel's brutal act of retribution against a hopeless population who have no choice but to turn to suicide bombing, and we are a very long way from that at the moment.

The Kuntzel article is certainly worth reading closely, grimly, horrifiedly.

here is the full letter-to-the-editor by Dr. Mounir Herzallah:
"Until 2002 I lived in a small village in the south near Marjajun which was mainly populated by Shiites like myself. After Israel left the Lebanon (2001)it took not long until the Hezbollah was taking over our village and all others in the vicinity. Greeted as successful liberation fighters they appeared armed to their teeth and installed rocket arsenals in bunkers in our village too. The social work of the "Party of God" consisted in building a school and an apartmentblock on top of these bunkers. A local sheik explained to me laughingly that the Jews will loose in any case, either the rockets will be fired on them, or if they attack the arsenals they will be condemned by world opinion because of the many civilian dead. The lebanese (Hezbollah) population is not interested in these people, either they will use them as a shield, or for propaganda if dead. As long as they (Hezbollah) exist there, there will be no quiet and peace."

Speaking of anti-Semitism at the UN, why are so many countries anti-Semitic, countries that aren't Islamic and should have no beef with Israel? Kofi himself isn't Muslim, right? So what's his beef?
